8. Chapter 8

Moon and sun return chapter 8 -father's reminiscences

This chapter will be the greatest divergence from the source material

It will cover the episodes 14-16

But will be told more through the letter rather than Viren's story. But I will also use this chapter to do more world building as well with the new element as the king understood them

Then after that, I will go back closer to the main story

Callum pov

It was while resting on the ship, I worried about the feelings I was having about Viren and about why he wanted me back. I hoped he wasn't trying to spend the human kingdoms to war, and I worried about the voice in my head and who she really might be. She seemed to be on my side, but I still wondered why she spoke in past tense. But it was after that sleep fully took me.

Then the next day came, and the captain made us think we were close to land but then said we weren't that close. I knew I had to hope the other kings presented voices of descent. It was then I thought to read the letter my stepfather left me.

The letter started with "Dear Callum, there is so much I have to tell you have neither your mother nor I had a chance to." Then it said "the first thing I must tell you is about your birth; you were born shortly after a falling star and under a strange sign. Such a sign, that made Viren fear your potential. One he didn't fully understand but claimed was connected to a red dragon. He claimed that you want desire the throne, but I knew you wouldn't try to take it unless your brother offered. I am not sure what your signs meant but you may have to truly learn from dragons themselves."

Then he went on to tell me how my mother died and that it happened saving to the kingdom of Duren from a famine. She was willing to help do something stupid to help keep him alive. He was willing to use dark magic to save others. They had to try and get the heart out of a rock giant and managed to even kill the beast. But the fight took too long, and my aunt Amaya was hurt with the dragon king close to waking up. He told me with that point, that I shouldn't rely on strength alone. Then he went on to explain how three queens died that with one being my mother. The dragon king killed all three with blasts of lightning. But the heart of said giant did save both kingdoms from famine.

He told me to not to try and avenge him and to that the glowing cube was known as the Key of Aaravos, ancient elven grandmaster of all magic. I then wondered just what the cube was and then came up to give my brother a huge as I wondered if something was equally special. Then after I asked the elf girl, "when were you born?" she then said, "July thirty first the white dragon's moon." With that I knew our births were so close we had to have ties. It wasn't much longer after that we saw land and a giant shadow that Rayla seemed to know.

Rayla pov

It was after we made landfall, I saw Callum playing with the cube near bait and asked if he was playing a game or practicing magic and he seemed to hint he was very close. But then asked me how I used my magic, but the way I described it didn't really help him. I knew he needed to make a breakthrough but wasn't sure how. He then muttered maybe I need to pass another test. But then changed the subject to getting into Xadia being hard but I said, "there is a secret path through the lava that only moon shadow elves know.

It wasn't long after that, we heard a dragon that was clearly not happy. The dragon started to attack the town and I didn't know why but the voice in my head said "that thing was clearly provoked, likely by a stupid human. But to be fair it may have been trying to start a fight as well." it wasn't long after that, we saw a bolt seem to follow and then hit the dragon likely due to a magic spell. It was after that, the dragon crashed pretty close to the cliff we were on. Then Ezran went after the dragon and Callum, and I chased after.

It was after that, we checked on the dragon to make sure it was alive but before we could help it more the human soldiers came, and we had to leave to help the dragon prince. But when we made it to the prince, I wanted to go back and help the dragon. I wanted to help the dragon to break the cycle of violence but without magic Callum wasn't sure he really could help. It was as I wanted to go and help; I felt a fire starting to burn within me, it was like something in me was starting to wake up.

Sorry for shorter chapter but I want to keep this story mostly to the pov of the main trio and didn't have nearly as much time this week

But promise epic season end chapter next week without break between the two seasons

The next chapter will close out season 2 with two of the trio gaining new power as the third gains new destiny and responsibility '

But first Emilia and Izuku will have to make it overhaul and prepare to face him and his final servant once and for all.
