12. Chapter 12

Moon and sun return chapter 12- crossing the sands and changing of guard

This chapter will have the pair of elf and human with dragon in tow enter the next leg of their journey while the new king has trouble at home with the dark mage

Callum pov

as we traveled through the woods, it took me a while to get used to my mount. During said ride, I was also trying to get Rayla to open up about her feelings, but she seemed to not want to, if I had to guess her assassin training was causing issues for her. I decided to leave her alone until, the elf girl felt somebody coming. Then in front of us landed a winged elf named Nix.

She came claiming to offer help fly the prince to his mother, but Rayla knew the best chance of ending the war between elves and humans would require the two of us making the delivery. I then mentioned dragon emperors, but this elf clearly didn't know but still offered to get us through the desert faster.

The faster way was through the midnight desert instead of around it but said desert was very dangerous, but she did have a way via riding on a giant beast. As we road, Shirayuki told me our ride seemed like a dinosaur and with that I had a flash of a place with giant bones until, Rayla snapped me out and I noticed she was still in a funk. But snapped us both out was the beast getting its foot stuck in a soul fang related sink hole. Then the winged elf went to get the leg out while I stared at a strange thing until she freed the leg and we continued to move.

she then guided us to an oasis to rest from the soul fangs at night. Then she gave us blankets to keep warm in the cold but the offer of a single blanket or two made us both blush as we choose two. it was that night, that Rayla's feelings came out in tears, and I tried to chase her down and soon caught her crying and offered to help the elf girl and tried to reassure her and tell her all that self-doubt was wrong. it was after that she gave me a kiss and with that, we both felt a spark, I knew I was filled with memories of a life well live but unfulfilled, I knew in that life I was a woman that made the wrong choice. I was sure Rayla was hit by similar memories as she seemed to not want to talk of the kiss again. it was on getting back to our camp that we found out that the elf has taken Zym.

Ezran pov

It was the next day as I sat on the throne, the prince of Neolandia came in with a treat of three armies waging war on my nation. I then wondered if others in my kingdom were trying to manipulate things behind the scenes. It was later that day and the advisors told me about war, but I knew many lives would be lost if we went to war. When I asked a number, it was way to high for me to risk. It was while I thought of the numbers, one of the advisors offered me a way out.

I then went to the baker to aid me in my choice as I told him to guard Bait and make sure to feed him. I knew I couldn't handle the current situation, so I had to give up the throne as dark forces began to circle. I then prepared to give up the throne with the price that soldiers get the chance to not have to fight. With that the former royal soldiers took me off to the prison cells and freed Viren on the way. I then wondered if he was manipulating all of this. It was after that; I sleep in the cell and had a dream about the female elf in pure white armor and the male human in red armor. But before I could see more, I was woken up by the grunts of Bait and lots of tarts from him, after that he pushed through and into the cell with me.

Rayla pov

It was after I planted unplanned kiss on Callum, memories flowed into me of being a boy that went through many hardships, then a man that made a choice out of convenience and what society wanted me to do. But I knew that boy I used to be really didn't want to make said choice. But before I could fully process that, I figured that Nix took Zym and untied our mount beasts. I managed to get one of our mount beasts back but the other was trapped by soul fangs, and sadly I lost the mount beast leaving us with only one and me having to divide one of the soul fangs with my gear to escape. It also made me wish I could use the wing part of my sacred gear to fly but I never got a chance to really practice flight yet. Since neither of us could fly we knew we had to wait for the sun to rise to go after the winged elf. While we waited Callum used a few things in the oasis to make some ramen, while I hoped out shapeshifting friend could offer some help.

When morning came, I ended up sharing the mount with the human boy and in time I had to tell him to grab on onto me, i wasn't embarrassed since I was used to sharing riding with other male elves. We then crossed the sands while trying to find the giant beast via its footprints. Then thankfully it didn't take that much longer for us to find the giant beast stuck in the sand again.

After the beast was freed from the sand, we had to use the powers of our sacred gears to speed up and climb the giant beast. But when we thought we caught her, the winged elf took flight again. but what the winged elf didn't know was that the dragon prince liked us much more that her and soon flew back to us as the winged elf was trapped with injured wings by a horde of serpents. But we soon used our sacred gears and magic and weapons to save her and get back on the mount beast with her.

Then Callum said so many good things about me and after that planted a kiss on my lips, in turn I brought the boy close to me and did the same over and over and with that. I think we both knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

Ezran pov

It was the next morning, and I was woken by shouts of "all hail the king". It was after that, Soren set me free and helped me through a well and promised to help me out through a bundle of hay. But thanks to the good-hearted idiot's high rank we managed to get far without any issues. But I wondered what else Viren could be trying to do. But soon Soren brought me to a safe place so I could proceed further. I also wondered what Viren could be doing before we made it to our next destination. It was soon the adults packed me supplies and then Lujanne arrived riding the moon phoenix so the bird could get me to Callum and Rayla to help get Zym back to his mother before it was too late.

Chapter end

The next chapter will have the trio reunited once again but now have to deal with the new problem of Viren's united army heading their way.

But first I will tell a new story of Shirou Emiya reborn as the ashen demon fem byleth eisner with the new job as teacher and goal to learn why she only regained her former memories now.
