Author's Note: In this chapter, the story deviates from the main(OG) storyline. So if you do not like that, I politely ask you to turn around and leave now because I don't see the point in wasting your time and mine.
There had been a loud bang before the lights had gone out. In the chaos that ensued, only a few people heard the feminine scream and glass breaking. And only a handful of people witnessed the kidnapping of Kagome Higurashi by Senri Shiki, aka Rido Kuran.
No surprise showed on those faces until two streaks of red, one right after another, shot out the broken window. Giving chase because they only knew one of those giving chase was supposed to. And were unsure as to why the other was?
"Do not worry; this actually benefits our situation a bit more."
Several sets of eyes turned to the person who spoke—allowing them to see the small smile playing at the edge of thin lips. At the same time, red eyes flashed in unabashed amusement.
"Lord Kuran?"
"He's right. Let Shippo do his part. As for the boy, he'll not hurt my ward."
This has the last person whipping their head around to look at Lord Sesshomaru. The knowing look glinting from the depth of amber eyes had the last person in their group frowning. Kaine Cross was unhappy to be left out of the loop. But he knew not to push it.
She could feel Shippo giving chase. But the other made Kagome's mind go blank for a few seconds. She was unsure as to why he had followed? There'd been no prior sign of interest in her that she'd noticed.
A sudden jump had Kagome bouncing painfully on the shoulder she'd been unceremoniously tossed over. The still ribbing of the dress's corset bodice dug into her ribs, making Kagome hiss. She felt anger begin to flood her since Sesshomaru had 'made' her wear this damn torture device.
Squirming to get comfortable, the hand on her thighs holding her in place tightened.
"Cease your movements, woman."
With the sudden tic under her right eye, Kagome took a deep calming breath. Those words were spoken in her friend's voice grated on her nerves. Kagome had long guessed Rido had taken over his son, Senri's body. The man was a poor actor, totally giving suspicious vibes and clues.
"Sicko," Kagome muttered. She knew he'd hear her easily.
The low growl she got in response had Kagome smiling with dark intent, letting her body go limp, so she was dead weight, earning an annoyed grunt. Slowly and carefully, Kagomel et her Horeiki gather and coat her hands. A small part of her moral conscious felt terrible for what she was going to do.
"Senri Shiki, I am sorry for this," Kagome whispered. Then she lifted her hands and slammed them down on Senri's butt, releasing her Horeiki, burning him.
The result was instant. Kagome felt her body flying through the air as she was tossed away. Twisting her body, Kagome scrunched her nose at the smell of burnt flesh reaching it. The male screams and curses of pain rang in the night air. Then Kagome felt the impact of her body hitting the ground and bouncing.
Her vision flashes white as the steel ribbing bend, digging into her flesh. Yet she could not cry out since all the air had been forced out of her lungs upon impact.
"Get her and head east. There is a trappers cave. I'll give pursuit to that bastard as I have a personal score to settle with the man behind him."
The sound of Shippo's rich baritone voice filled Kagome's ears as strong arms scooped her up like a princess. The scent of heat filled Kagome's hazy senses.
I had no clue why I had followed after witnessing Kagome being kidnapped by Senri. Though I was partly glad I'd paid attention to his odd behaviors of the past few days. But running alongside the human called Shippo, I could confidently say he was no human.
Glancing down at the wheezing(and much smaller than I thought) woman in my arms, I noticed how pale her face was. That typical, clean scent I associated with her was laced with pain. So with another burst of speed, I rushed towards where Shippo said was a trapper's cave.
In short order, I arrived only to frown. The inside was damp, and the wood and bedding smelt slightly moldy. It was less than ideal, but having no other choice, I entered with my companion, who was no longer wheezing.
"Down, please."
Blink as I looked down at her, I realized the dark glint in her blue eyes looking back at me. Not wanting to deal with an angry woman, I set her down and went to the small blackened fire pit. Knowing the wood was damp and moldy from being unused for however long it'd been there, I knew a fire was needed for the duration of our stay in this place. She was a human and was weaker. But to start it safely, I'd have to use my pyrokinetic ability.
"Gods be damned, man-made, evil fucking torture device."
The softly muttered curses had me looking back at my companion only to feel my go hot. Unable to help myself at the sight I saw. The picture of Kagome in nothing but an undershirt, and corset, which she was trying to remove, was a bit of a shock. However, I could see why she wanted the corset removed. The ribs on one side were bent inwards toward her rib cage.
"Hey, quit staring and help me remove this damn thing. It'll make great kindling for the fire you were thinking of starting."
Feeling shocked at her rude and blunt behavior as she commanded me. I moved over to her side as she spun, showing her back to me, with her long black hair over a shoulder. The feeling of my breath sticking in my throat at the sight before me made me glad I'd taken a few blood pills before the ball.
Not wanting to keep tempting myself, I lifted my hands and quickly snapped the corset's laces. The corset fell unheeded to the ground. And revealing a deep purple design under Kagome's left shoulder blade that felt wrong. While on her right shoulder was a small flame curling up toward her neck struck me as familiar.
Before I could ask, Kagome'sbody stiffened as she slumped forward unconscious.
