It was 8 in the morning and Remus and Tonks had just arrived back at Hogwarts. They were currently on their way to see Harry before they could get there they heard a Scottish voice from behind them. Quickly turning around they saw McGonagall walking towards them. "What are you two doing here," she asked them.
"We are here to pick up Harry from the hospital wing" Remus spoke. If it was possible she stood up straighter.
"And what is Mr. Potter doing in the hospital wing" she looked at them. They both shared a look before Remus decided he would be the one to speak.
"Harry was injured in the forest so Ms. Bell brought him here," Remus told his old Professor, she chuckled, "well that certainly explains where the others went, well we better get to the hospital wing to see if Mr. Potter and the others are awake yet" after walking for a few minutes they finally made it to the hospital wing. They walked in right as Madam Pomfrey walked out of her office.
"They are all still sleeping but they should be up in an hour or so," she told them as she started to collect some potions for some of the other students. "Mr. and Mrs. Lupin why don't we go to the kitchens and get some breakfast, we can talk and then come back afterward and see if they are awake," McGonagall spoke. After a short walk, they finally found themselves at the entrance to the kitchen. When they got in there they noticed the elves working at putting things back together. One of the elves saw them and told them they would get them food, they walked over and sat at one of the few tables in the corner. One of the elves brought them tea and they sat there in silence.
"Minerva I have a few questions that I hope you can answer" Remus spoke. "Of course Remus, I will answer to the best of my ability" McGonagall responded, putting down her tea.
"Poppy said something earlier about how Harry's team knows him better than Ron and Hermione, how can that be though? Those three are so close" Remus asked as he took a sip of his tea.
McGonagall took a second to think about how to go about explaining the little family that formed. "You have to understand that while I am ashamed to admit, the staff here all failed Mr. Potter" the Lupins didn't say anything knowing this was a time to just listen. "Year after year something would happen with Mr. Potter and we would do nothing about it. The school would constantly turn on him and something would happen that he would have to fix and we would turn a blind eye. Though those six besides the one incident back in his first year they never left him. In his first year they were close but just teammate close, then after the incident at the end of his first year when he woke up something just clicked. When they got back for his second they were like a family."
"Now throughout those years whenever something would happen they would always stand by him. You would not believe how many detentions those kids got for cursing another student for him. I think we all realized it though after the quidditch accident that year, when they wouldn't leave him and ended up sleeping on the beds with him. They were there when Ms. Granger went behind his back and had his broom taken from him for inspection. Or when Mr. Weasley left him when he believed Mr. Potter put his name into the goblet in his fourth year. I think along the way there they wanted to give him some sort of family he could depend on. I also noticed that Mr. Potter doesn't do well with physical touch but with those six he almost seems to crave it for comfort."
"But all six of them seem to have a different type of relationship with them. The Weasleys well apparently they met Mr. Potter first. They treat him like he's just another one of their brothers, they know exactly how to take 's mind off things when stuff is getting hard. The two chasers and would treat him like a younger brother, fiercely protective, tease him, help him with problems from girls to homework. , well I think he knew immediately that something wasn't right, he took every opportunity to compliment on his performance, give him advice and just try to be the best big brother. They raised him as best they could in a way." She spoke with a smile on her face, thinking about the Gryffindor dream team.
"What about Katie," Tonks asked, noticing the member that was left out.
"Ah , well that one is quite different. They never had a sibling relationship, being close in age and joining the team at the same time they became close friends. Whenever something happened to you would find her there. She seemed to be the one he warmed up to the quickest. Then as time went by they became closer. It was in his fourth year that their relationship changed, not that anybody was surprised, he had asked her to be his date for the Yule Ball, then the next morning they were dating. They've been together ever since, I know some girls were jealous over the years. Ms, Weasley, and sticking out. Though they never let that stop them. In fact, if I remember correctly got detention when she came back for hexing in response to the love potion she tried to give . Luckily she was able to graduate still so she didn't have to come back here when the school was taken over. So to answer your question Remus, yes those seven are closer than anyone I have ever seen, even you and your little group. Those kids would go through hell for that boy, they gave him a family, not only were they fighting for the war to end but for it to end so could finally live his life " the couple sat there stunned at what they just heard.
But how had they not notice this, especially himself, Remus thought? But as they thought back to their conversations with Harry they never really asked him how things were going with him besides quidditch or how he's holding up under pressure with the war and stuff if anybody was giving him any trouble, and it's not like he got to go out in the summers. The one who usually did ask all that stuff was Sirius, no wonder Harry felt so close to him, he was the only one that really tried to get to know Harry and not just The-Boy-Who-Lived. Before they could continue their thoughts they heard a voice speak up. "I think it is best if we head back to the hospital wing now, and the others should we awakening soon." she continued as she led the couple to the kids.
When they got back to the hospital wing they saw a unique sight. Harry sitting up in the bed trying to get up with the girls trying to stop him and Oliver sitting there laughing.
"Ollie stop laughing and come help me over here" Harry shouted. As Oliver started to walk over Angelina glared at him "If you try to help him Oliver Wood you'll be in the bed right next to him" she growled.
Oliver immediately backed up from the angry chaser "Sorry kid, you're on your own for this one"
" I think it would be wise for you to listen to the girls if you ever want to leave here today" Pomfrey spoke from where she stood by the three adults with a small smile on her face. That automatically got Harry to lay back down and put a smile on the three chasers faces.
"But Madam Pomfrey I feel fine" he half whined, but before he could go any farther he saw the other three standing at the door with amused looks on their faces.
"Hello , must you always be in here" McGonagall spoke. Getting half a smile in return. Remus and Tonks walked up to the bed.
"Hey, Harry" and "Hello prongslet" were said at the same time.
"Hi Remus, hey Tonks," Harry said from where he was laying down with three protective girls watching over him, "as you can see I can't really get up to greet you" he spoke with a cheeky smile.
"So how are you feeling Harry," Tonks asked him.
"I feel fine, Poppy said I'm allowed to go after she checks one last time, but I need to come back in a couple of days to make sure everything is alright"
"Then you should sit still so you can get done with this" but before she could step up to the bed the doors swung open showing three redheads and one with bushy hair. The twins ended up jumping on the beds with Harry while Ron and Hermione stood on the other side opposite of Tonks and Remus.
"So Harry I thought we told you-"
"To not do anything stupid again" the twins spoke from where they were laying at the end of the beds.
"In my defense, I was feeling fine, Katie is the one that made me come here," Harry told them from his spot.
"Well excuse me for being worried, you had another scar that looks like the last one, which do I need to remind you, you got from getting hit by the killing curse" Katie glared and crossed her arms at him as she spoke. Harry just raised his hands in the surrender position and mumbled a "right sorry" under his breath. Though before anyone else could say anything Hermione shouted, "what do you mean a matching scar" Harry looked away feeling uncomfortable "I don't want to talk about it, Hermione" he told her in a quiet voice. She was going to speak again when she noticed the looks she was getting from a certain girlfriend, siblings, and a certain couple.
Deciding now was the best time as any Madam Pomfrey stepped forward and waved her wand in some patterns that even after all these years Harry still did not understand. After a few minutes she walked to go grab some potions. She came back with two that Harry stared at wearily at them. Pomfrey walked over the Lupins and gave them to Tonks. "Make sure he takes the purple every morning and the red one every night for the next three days then I want to see him back here" Tonks nodded along as she listened, then turned her head as she heard a deeper scottish voice "make sure you watch him swallow it though, the kid likes to get out of taking 'em" Oliver spoke to which Harry pouted at.
Katie chuckled and patted his cheek "don't try to deny it love, we all know it's true" Harry just let out a dramatic sigh "alright fine, but can I go now Pomfrey?"
"Yes you may Mr. Potter I'll see you in a few days" with that she walked back into her office with McGonagall leaving Harry with the other. Katie helped him off the bed and wrapped her around his waist while Hermione occupied his other side, but before they could make it out of the hospital wing both girls were pushed out of the way and instead two red headed twins took their place. Indigent cries could be heard coming from the two girls. The twins just innocently smiled and Harry was too tired to do anything. After a few minute walk they had all made it to the floor in the headmasters office.
Oliver, Angelina, and Alicia were the first to leave, giving everyone a hug before they all flooed back to their respective homes. Next were the Weasleys and Hermione who of course didn't leave without fussing over him.
"I'll be staying with the Weasleys for now so I'm not far if you need anything alright" Harry laugh, "I know Hermione don't worry I'll be fine" she just nodded and he could tell she was still worried. After reassuring her multiple more times the three brothers were finally able to get her to leave also.
"Come on Harry, we should go, Katie could even come so that way she knows just in case she wants to come over"Remus told him. Harry just nodded and followed the couple while holding Katie's hand. Tonks grabbed the floo powder first, "just say Lupin cottage" Remus said as Tonks disappeared in the green flame. He then went next leaving the young couple by themselves.
"Are you ready?" Katie asked him, giving his hand a small squeeze.
"As ready as I'll ever be" with that the couple hopped into the floo.
