Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas, Circles! I'm your Secret Santa!
And Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this too~ ;D
May you enjoy!
"WE HAVE TO WHAT?!" The blue-haired visitor from afar slams both hands on the large oak table with so much force that the mugs shifted and the drink tremored inside.
Unfazed and understanding, the light blonde Snow Queen of Arendelle, Elsa, simply stifles a sigh and nods. "It is as the scriptures say – you and Miss Chisato here have to overcome one or more trails to get home."
"Guess we're in this together if we want to get home, Yohane-san." Chisato's wavering scarlet eyes betrayed the enthusiasm she poured into her voice.
Yohane purses her lips as she glared at the yellowish-brown scroll that instructed the both of them to get into danger for a chance of a way home.
The Snow Queen's sister, Anna, who was the current queen of Arendelle, had her eyebrows scrunched together as she not so discreetly covered her mouth and loudly whispers to Elsa. "Why do they say this san thing at the back of names?"
Elsa gave Anna a look that it was rude to ask in front of the guests like that but she still answers. "It is probably a culture thing."
"So. Your majesty…er, your highness…?"
"Elsa. You may call me Elsa."
"Was she not referring to me?" Anna leans forwards with a hopeful smile.
Yohane does not mean to ignore the actual Queen of this foreign land she dropped into but she had more pressing matters at hand – rather literally as she lifts her hands – bright light was swirling around them. "Could you explain a bit more on this, Elsa-san?"
Anna snorts before stifling her laugh with her hand. "Elsa-san! Hahaha!"
Elsa shakes her head at her sister's chortle before giving her attention to Yohane. "As mentioned too, you have an affinity with Light magic. Whereas Chisato here has an affinity with wind and…"
Chisato gulps and nods as she remembers how she magically willed her hair to grow an extreme amount to provide warmth when both Yohane and her was stuck in the snowy mountains and about to freeze to death. The hairy look they took was not too helpful but that prolonging of frostbite and hypothermia bought them enough time to be found by Elsa and brought to warmth in the castle.
"Light magic… How is it not dark magic which would be much more fitting of this Fallen Angel?" Yohane huffs.
"Perhaps the reason for your fall isn't because you dabbled in black magic?" Chisato suggests as she picks up her mug of hot chocolate to drink.
"Of course not!" Yohane picks up her hot drink to intake as she was reminded of how cold it is to be in her school idol training gear on a wintry day in Arendelle.
Elsa nudges her sister and Anna quickly gets to her feet. "Well! In any case, unexpected guests are still unexpected and guests. Sooooo, let's get you a room or two so you can get warm and rested before your journey to take on gole- mmnn!"
Elsa covers Anna's mouth and simply shoots an apologetic smile to a surprised Yohane and Chisato who exchanged a look before staring at the two sisters again.
"There is no need to frighten them, Anna. What if they lose the courage to try for home?" Elsa whispers at Anna's ears.
The Queen responds with, "Mmm hmmfrrmmpphh hmmpphh!"
Elsa releases her hand and Anna sucks in a deep breath of good ol' oxygen before clapping her hands together. "Shall we?"
Yohane and Chisato shrugs. "Also, we don't mind sharing a room. Might as well get to know each other before having to fight a fight we might die in."
Chisato nods quietly, hoping there will not be the death part.
Morning came, provisions were taken, Yohane and Chisato rode horses for the first time in their lives as they left the castle walls, the town and headed into the unknown.
"Wow... I never thought I'd be riding a horse..." Chisato admires the healthy mane and the galloping sounds as they advance at a speed that would not throw beginners like herself off.
"I have." Yohane grips the ropes tightly as she reminded herself over and over to not get overly excited and attempt to go faster.
Reaching a cavern which light did not go too far into, Chisato swallows some nerves though her hands still shook. "Never thought I'll enter a cave to face who knows what."
"I have." Yohane stood her ground, a face of determination before she crossed her arm and posed her signature Fallen Angel pose. "Kukuku...It would seem that the time has come for the Fallen Angel to lead the lost ones towards salvage!"
"..."
All eyes were on Yohane and she could not help but freeze in position, not used to being uninterrupted or given a retort. Or simply, no reaction. Back at home, she could at least count on Ruby to be excited for her!
Yohane clears her throat.
Anna uncapped a bottle. "Some liquid for the...er, thirst that...requires some...quenching?"
Yohane sighs, the quirky queen was trying. "Thanks."
"I feel the wind stirring. We should proceed onwards." Elsa gazes around the surroundings with a raised hand.
Chisato chuckles. "Elsa-san is a natural at this."
A laugh bubbled out of Anna again.
And the four of them stepped into the eerily silent cave.
"WAAAaaaHHhhHHHHHHH!"
"Hya! Ah! Waah!"
Various screams echoed through the cave that shook and moved as the moment Yohane, Chisato, Elsa and Anna ventured deep enough to be unable to turn back and escape, the cave came to life and separated the four.
"Anna!" Elsa grabbed her sister's hand in a hurry just as the earth split and sent tumbling rocks from above them. With a swish of her hand, she barely managed to shield them as the rest of the rocks covered their vision and chances to help their foreign friends.
"Elsa..! W-What do we do?"
"... We can only fight our fight and hope they win theirs." Elsa nods towards behind her where two golems stand tall and angered.
Anna nods nervously, gripping her sword. She has not been diligently practising but she will do her very best to support her sister.
"HOLY-"
"Kanon..."
"What!? You and I must be seeing different things if you're murmuring the name of the person you like right now!" Yohane fumbles in her desperate run for cover. Except, she had no idea where was a good cover when all around her was rubble and rock and she's faced with three massive, scary-looking golems.
"No, I... I couldn't help it!" Chisato calls back as she holds onto a hopefully not moving rock.
"Elsa?! Anna!? Ugh, I think we got separated..." Yohane laments the fact that the seemingly all-powerful ice casting magician just had to be barricaded away when the battle begins.
Chisato checks her surroundings and saw the rockslide. "100% separated!"
"Okay...okay...we just got to somehow survive this... ahh...what can we do though?"
"GRRROOAAAAARRRRRR!" The golem with glowing red gems for eyes gleamed with killing intent as it let out a horrendous cry.
Chisato whimpers and Yohane frown further.
"Maybe if we buy enough time, Elsa and Anna could find a way to come back and help us?" Chisato gulps as she could no longer tell if it was the ground that was shaking or was it just her knees.
Yohane nods slowly, looking from the menacing approaching rubble to her newly made friend who was as frightened of the present situation as she is. Yohane clenched her fists tightly. "Heh... heh heh heh..."
"Yohane-san...?"
"Magically transported into an unknown land... Finding out we've got magic... Made to journey to dangers and now... this! Let's just use whatever magic we can to get through this... Chisato!"
"GWEAARRRGHHHH!" The golem bellows and crashes its arms down where Yohane once stood.
"Yohane-san!" Chisato screamed.
The bluenette was already running an arc of the circular space they were trapped in. "It's intimidating but it's not fast!"
Chisato smiles relieved that the self-proclaimed Fallen Angel was still in one piece and smiled further that they had at least an upper hand in one stat. Chisato dodges another golem's swing, leaving dust and shattered ground behind her.
Getting a good position, Chisato wills her hair to grow an incredible length that she tied on a sturdy looking stalagmite before she takes a deep breath, mumbling to herself that she can do it, she then makes a mad dash to get from one end to the other, circling two golems and reaching another stalagmite tugging it tight. She shuts her eyes tight and clenches her fists, reinforcing her hair which caused the golems to break at its ankles and come crashing down.
"I… I did it…!" Chisato opened her eyes and blinked tears of fear away. "I did it!"
Yohane grins from ear to ear. "That was intelligent, Chisato!"
"I just ran with it!"
"Ha! That's the way to go!"
But it was too early for celebrations as the golems collapsed on one another rumbled and started compacting together as one ginormous golem.
"Er… Is that allowed?" Chisato asks, retracting her hair back to its usual length.
Yohane shrugs. "I'm starting to think anything goes in this world."
The Golem raised one arm out, its blockish rocky fingers pulled parts of the caves over to it like a magnetic pull, the sounds of earth crumbling together, compacted into one ammunition before it threw it right at Yohane.
"Gyah!" Yohane ducks and it barely misses, the Fallen Angel's heart drummed painfully in her ribcage as she thought about how she could've died from that. "I think we just entered Stage 2 of this…! And we just lost the speed advantage!"
"That…" Chisato murmurs, almost dreamily.
The Golem compacted another perfectly round rock to throw at Yohane once again.
"Ugh…!" Yohane uses her Light Magic to catapult herself from her current position to anywhere but there, dodging another attack in the nick of time. "Two can play at your game of compact magic, you big block of dirt!"
"Haa… It's so…round…" Chisato had stars in her eyes as she admired the work of the Golem.
"Chisato?! What are you dazing about! Run!" Yohane shouts across the cave as the Golem was building another beautifully round and smooth rock to throw.
Chisato is the captivated audience.
"Ahh, sheesh! Yohane has to do everything!" The Light Magic-User blasts the light magic on the ground sending her flying at the snow-coloured hair daydreaming girl to get them out of range.
Ground crumbling where the rock smashed in behind them.
"Chisato! Snap out of it!"
"But… it's so round… I love round things…~" Chisato peeked over Yohane's shoulder to see the Golem making yet another round stone.
Yohane was dumbfounded. "Please. Focus on surviving first!"
"GWOOAAAHHHH!" The Golem roars, its sharp ruby gems for eyes looks right at Yohane.
"Oh come on! I didn't do the most damage just yet!" Yohane sweeps her hand right to have a magic circle bring Chisato away and she propels herself upwards just as the rock smashes behind her, the broken pieces grazing her and she grits her teeth together, enduring the pain.
"T-The perfect circular rocks will break when it hits the ground…" Chisato sounded genuinely sad about that fact.
Yohane realizes that Chisato's starry eyes return to normal when those circular things get broken and act fast, chipping those boulders the golem created.
"OR OUR BONES WILL BREAK FIRST, CHISATO!" Yohane yells.
"T-That's true." Chisato blinks back to her sense and executes a flip, drops to her knees and bends her back just in time for a barrage of not-so-perfectly-round stones to miss smashing into her stomach and ribs and she rushes behind the hostile golem to will her hair into whips she used to slice at the golem's ankles.
"GUUUOOAAAHHH!" The golem cries as it falls slow and noisily.
Yohane whistles, proud to have her battle partner back. "That would be perfect in an MV."
Chisato chuckles sheepishly. "A little help?"
Yohane grins. "On it!"
Yohane and Chisato were not sure how long they had to fight, whether they will survive through this. But one thing is for sure, they were getting the hang of their powers and was determined to win to get home.
