Diego and Shira were walking around the island together. They first went to check in on their friends from the herd to see if they need anything. As they approached to their friends, they noticed some sort of commotion around Sid and the hyrax. Since they were speaking on their weird language, they couldn't get what was going on. Diego approached Manny and asked: "What's going on, buddy??"

Manny rolled his eyes and scoffed. "Just Sid and his usual crazy ideas that will problably end up in disaster." The mammoth said in a annoyed tone.

Diego chuckled. "What is it this time??"

Manny sighed and said: "Well... It seems like since winter will be coming soon, Sid wants to throw a feast to celebrate the passage of the season." He told his tiger friend.

Diego couldn't help but let a laugh out. And so did Manny. "I know!! It's riddiculous, right?!" Manny asked. However, Ellie came to them and gave them both a stern look. They immediately stoped laughing.

"Well, i think it's a great idea. We'll get to enjoy the last days of summer with our family and friends, eat and have fun!!" Ellie said with her usual optimism.

Sid seemed to hear what the mammoth said and he turned to his friends. "Oh dear Ellie, that's not all!!" Sid said excidetly. "Every mammal who's coming to the feast shall bring a partner to accompany for the rest of the Ball." Sid said as he brought a hyrax with him and pretend that they were dancing together.

Even though most of the ideas Sid has were super dumb, Diego couldn't help but be impressed by his friend's idea. It was actually brilliant. Now that he thinks about it, it would be the perfect way to ask Shira out on a date and even have some quality time with her. But then he thought: What if she doesn't like the idea?? However, his doubts were answered when Shira entered the conversation.

"I agree with Ellie. This sounds like fun to me." Shira said smilling at her mammoth friend.

Diego was smilling on the outside and inside. He couldn't wait to ask Shira to be his partner at the feast. Sid became even more excited when the others agreed with his idea.

"Alright, everybody!! This will be the most beautiful celebration you'll ever seen!! I'll call it, a Winter's Ball." Sid said excidetly. He and the hyrax going on planning everything. The others had different reactions to it. Manny was still not impressed. However, the rest of the herd seemed very excited about it.

"Did i heard it right?? A Ball?! Oh my!! I better do something with my hair so i look nice." Said Peaches excidetly.

"Sweetie, your hair already looks nice. You got it from me, right Manny??" Ellie said trying to cheer her daughter up.

"Uh?? Oh, yeah!! Of course, honey!!" Manny said nervously.

"Sid said that we have to bring a partner with us." Pointed Crash.

"Yeah, we gotta find some other female possums to go with us!!" Eddie said in a mild panick.

"Well, i already have my partner right here." Ellie said nuzzling on Manny. Who did the same to his mate.

"Yes, honey. We'll have loads of fun during this Ball thing." Manny said even though he wasn't really sure of it. Then, the mammoth looked at his saber friend and asked: "What about you, Diego?? Are you going to the Ball??" Manny asked with a wink. Like he knew who the saber would be bringing with him.

Diego was surprised by his friend's question. But he tried to play along with him. "Me?? Well, i'm still not sure. Maybe yes, and also not." The saber said acting like he doesn't have any intentions. "Anyway, Shira and i will be at the forest. If you need us..." Diego said and the mammoth noded.

The sabers turned back and headed into the forest looking for a nice spot to relax. Soon, they found a good spot with some sun rays on it. Shira quickly ran towards the spot and stretched herself before laying there. "C'mon, softie. It's warm and cozy in here." Shira called him.

Diego smiled and followed her. Laying on his belly beside her. The sun warming his fur. "Wow, this place is very nice." The saber commented.

"Yeah, you're right. We should come here more often." Shira said on a calm tone. "Hey" She called him and he looked at her. "What do you think of Sid's idea??" She asked him.

Diego looked at her and then said: "Well, honestly, Sid had came up with lots of ideas before. I can count on my fingers how many ended up in disaster." Diego told her and she giggled. "However, i am willing to give it a chance. Maybe we'll all have some fun before the end of the season.

Shira noded. Agreeing with his opinion. "I've never been at a Ball before. It must be fun." She said on a saddened tone. Diego felt like it was his chance. His chance of asking her to go with him.

"Well... I was just thinking that i might go to the Ball." Diego said. Shira's eyes widened.

"Really?! But who will you take with you??" Shira asked curiously.

Diego smiled and said: "I was thinking about taking a very beautiful female as my partner." He said mysteriously.

Shira's curiosity grew even more.

"Really?? And who would that be??"

"I'll give you a tip. She's a saber." He said smilling.

"Oh?! Really?? And who's that?? Tell me how she's like." Shira asked.

"She's a very beautiful saber. Her fur is like snow and has some gray accents. She used to be a pirate, but eventually she joined our herd and i like her very much." Diego told her and her eyes widened.

"Diego... Do you mean...??" Shira asked, speechles.

"Yes. Would you like to go to the Ball with me??" Diego finaly asked.

"Oh Diego... I don't even know what to say..." Shira said with a shy smile.

"I mean, if you're not going with any other saber..." He said worriedly. Shira scoffed.

"Diego, c'mon. Let's be real. Are there any other sabers in this island beside us??" She asked on a jokingly tone.

Diego chuckled and noded. "You're right. We're the only ones in here." He said agreeing with her. She was right. It was kinda sad that they were the only one of their species in the island. But it was also good, since they don't have to worry about sabers invading their territory.

However, while the two sabers were relaxing under the sun, a strange form was emerging from the forest behind them. And it was slowly approaching. Diego's sensitive ears capted the movement and his instincts immediately kicked in. The saber quickly got up and turned around on attack position.

Shira got startled as well. "What's wrong??" She asked worriedly.

"I don't know. But there's something or someone in there. I can feel it." Diego said as he sniffed the air. It was the scent of a... saber?! 'Impossible!!' he thought. "Who's there?? Show yourself now!!" He demanded.

Shira tried to put herself on defence position as well, however, when she got the scent in the air, she stoped. "Wait... This scent... I know it." She said as she sniffed the air a few times to be sure. The strange saber approached from the shadows, Diego snarled and tried to defend Shira from whoever was it. But she steped i between them. "Diego, wait!! I think i--" She tried to protest, but the saber came from behind the bushes and tried to face Diego. However, his full attention turned to Shira. The two sabers looking straight at eachother for a few seconds.

"Shira?!" The saber asked.

"Nick?!" Shira asked back.

Diego stoped snarling and put his guard down. Looking at both of them confused. "Uhhh... Do you know each other??" He asked. Only to be ignored by the other saber who looked very happy.

"Shira!! It's really you!!"

Who is this Nick?? Is he a friend or an enemy?? You'll find out on the next chapter. It'll be coming soon, don't worry ;)
