Adrien layed on top of the couch in Marinette's room. She was already asleep, it was pretty late anyway. Adrien couldn't sleep because couldn't stop thinking about the fight from that day. The severity of the villain's power, and how she used it with complete disregard to all the civilians around. He pictured their terrified faces that were clouded with smoke, how if he didn't have his cataclysm, people could have died and who knows if the lucky charm could've brought them back. Hawkmoth was getting worse, no doubt because he was angry. Angry at him. If anybody had gotten hurt, it would have been his fault. He had to do something about it. He lifted his head up to look at Marinette, she had been so kind to him in all of this mess. He walked out of the room as quietly as he could, and snuck his way outside. Adrien transformed into Chat Noir next to the bakery.

Chat Noir used his stick to propel himself up onto a nearby building. He started to run. The air was cool, and felt much colder as it brushed against Chat Noir's face while he leapt across the rooftops. He found himself a roof with a view of the Eiffel Tower, it was still glowing. He sat in his usual cat-squat position and pondered his options. I don't think Hawkmoth- my father is going to hold back anymore. This is all my fault, I've made him angry, he thinks that he has nothing left to lose. Chat Noir sat down and dangled his feet over the edge and looked wistfully in the distance. Why does it have to be me? Why do I have to choose between protecting the city, or getting my mother back? He looked down at his feet hovering over the street below. This decision probably would be much easier if my father actually cared about me. The Eiffel Tower's lights turned off, he blinked and a few tears escaped his eyes. His bright green cat eyes, the tears swelling inside of them looked like the liquid from a melted lime popsicle. Chat sighed, and turned his weapon into a phone.

"Hi Ladybug," he laughed- an uncomfortable sort of laugh. One you could really feel the emotion from, the easy mixture of a laugh and a cry. "So I, heh, I have somebody here. He's got to tell you something. I know it's late, you're not even transformed I bet. It's important." He paused and tilted his head up towards the sky. "Check this message in the morning. Meet him in the park, 3:00. It's about Hawkmoth." As he said his last sentence, his voice broke a little bit.

Chat Noir shut the phone and rested his elbows on his things, and put his head in his hands. It was a good thing that his father had a strict sleep schedule, if it wasn't 1 am at the time, he would have definitely become akumatized. The weight of the night's darkness surrounded him.

After some time of being alone, Chat Noir hopped down from the rooftop and heard his feet tap onto the pavement. He ran back towards the bakery and de-transformed. Adrien sighed and looked at the door. Sneaking in was much harder than sneaking out. Especially when you don't have a direct window to your final location. He didn't have a key to the place, so he had to go in through the back, where Marinette's parents put the ingredient deliveries through. Usually the door was shut tight, but there was an expected delivery early in the morning, so it was open slightly, and Adrien squeezed his way through. He snuck up the stairs as quietly as he could, and tried to come into Marinette's room without waking her up.

Marinette heard rustling around in her room and woke up. Groggily she called out, "Adrien?" Her eyes barely open more than a squint.

"Oh! Sorry Marinette. I didn't mean to wake you, I-I was just going to the bathroom. Go back to sleep." Adrien sniffled, "...I'm sorry."

Marinette thought that there might have been more to his departure than what he was saying, but she was too tired to ask. She rolled over and went back to sleep. Adrien went to sleep soon after he laid down, must've been pretty tired after all of his rough emotional decision making.

The next day was pretty normal for the most part. Adrien kept looking around nervously, as if he was at his own surprise party, waiting for everyone to jump out and yell "surprise!" The school day seemed to drag on, Adrien He zoned out in the middle of class and thought. Will Ladybug even have a chance to transform and check her messages? Maybe she'll go on a hunt for an akuma? …Maybe this wasn't a very good plan after all. How am I going to explain why I need to go to the park to Marinette? God, I was being so stupid last night, that's what I get for being all emotional. He was staring at the wall behind the teacher. He continued to space out until he started to hear someone calling him.

"Adrien… Adrien?" The entire class was looking at him, after his teacher had called his name repeatedly.

"Huh? Oh, sorry." He said, looking into her eyes.

"So, what's the answer?"

"The… answer?" He made a sweet innocent face, one he thought might prevent him from getting in trouble. The class laughed.

"Yes, the answer to the question that I asked you, number 23 in our book."

"Oh… right." His face grew red. Adrien looked in the book and answered the question. After the teacher started talking, Nino turned to him and asked.

"You ok dude?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Ok, just checking. You usually pay close attention in class. And you did this the other day, you know you can talk to me, right?"

"No, I'm fine, I've just got a lot on my mind."

"Just know that I'm here for you." Nino said, looking at him. Sincerity in his eyes.

"Thanks. I really appreciate it man." Adrien said, truly meaning it.

Meanwhile, Marinette was busy thinking about their relationship, or well, the impending nature of it. She was waiting to tell all of her friends at lunch. She couldn't stop watching the clock. The watching must've been effective, because as soon as she knew it, the bell rang.

As she walked out into the hallway, Marinette pulled Alya to the side.

"I have news." Marinette said, smiling.

"What kind of news?" Alya was starting to get excited.

"News about Adrien!"

"Tell me now!"

"Ok, well he said that he thinks that he has feelings for me too."

"Really? I'm so happy for you, girl."

"But we're not in a relationship yet, he said he has too much to deal with right now. He said our relationship is on hold, it will happen after I think."

"Oh… I'm sorry about that Marinette. But at least you know that he likes you back!"

"Yeah" She said, swooning. Alya went her own way and Marinette was about to go to lunch, until she heard crying somewhere. Oh no, someone's getting akumatized. Maybe this time I can help before the akumitization happens. She went into the bathroom to transform. As she shot out of the window, she looked around and spotted the crying person. She was going to go over to protect them, but quickly realized something. The person was in a medieval costume, and surrounded by ten other people dressed the same. This wasn't someone experiencing a real tragedy, they were just an actor.

Ladybug let out a sigh of relief. She turned around to go back, but realized that her yo-yo had a message on it. Who would have sent me a message? It couldn't have been from Master Fu, he knows my identity so he could've contacted me without it. She looked at the yo-yo: Chat Noir 1:27 am. What does Chat need at that time of night?! She put it up to her ear and listened. What's he so upset about? It's not like he's the one affected by Hawkmoth. Unless... Ladybug snuck back into the school and transformed back. It was 12:30, she still had a while.

"Wow, Tikki, who in the world do you think knows anything about Hawkmoth?"

"I don't know! I guess we'll find out today."

"I hope it isn't anything too awful. I can't imagine what it would be like to know him as a person."

Adrien stood in the corner of the park, off to the side by a tree. He looked at the time. 2:57 pm. Not yet. He was nervous to see Ladybug. Partially because of his love for her, but mostly because he was terrified to tell her about his father. And to make matters worse, he needed to be careful because she could suspect him of being Chat Noir based off of the message from last night. He felt so stupid about the whole situation, he knew he could've handled it better if he just gave a little bit of thought into it, instead of acting like an impulsive idiot.

Ladybug was on her way, growing increasingly more curious. But, even though she was curious, she was also a little afraid, something that she'd never admit though, being Ladybug and all. She stood on a nearby building, overlooking the park, trying to figure out who exactly she was supposed to be looking for. Chat Noir didn't exactly give her very much information. She surveyed the area, looking for anyone who seemed to be looking for her, or looking suspicious in general. Finally, a little blonde spot caught her eye. Ladybug shot downwards with her yo-yo and approached Adrien Agreste.

"Hi… I was told to meet somebody here today, and I thought a good civilian like you, Adrien, would be able to inform me of any interesting occurrences around here?"

"Oh…" Adrien said, blushing. "Actually, I think you're looking for me."

She resisted the urge to say, "I'm always looking for you." Instead she replied in shock.

"Oh! I didn't realize. What… uh… what did you have to tell me about?"

"Well… Ladybug, do you think we could go somewhere... " He looked down towards the ground, "as private as possible?"

"Of course!" Ladybug said, as she picked him up. She needed to make sure not to draw too much attention to herself, considering she and Adrien were two of the most famous people in Paris at the moment. She found a dark and empty corner, out of sight from surrounding residences and businesses.

"Wow, thank you Ladybug." Adrien said, looking around. He took a deep breath, his piercing green eyes radiating in hers.

"I know who Hawkmoth is."

Ladybug looked back at him, waiting for him to continue. Adrien stood as if he was looking at a list of words that he could say, trying to pick out one to explain. His eyes welled up with tears, but they didn't fall just yet.

"I… I can't tell you though."

"What? But I-"

"He said he'd know, he said he'd punish me for telling someone, he said he'd find out." Adrien started to tremble. "I'm sorry Ladybug. I want to tell you, I want this all to end." He began to cry. Ladybug embraced him into a hug. He got close to her ear, as close as he possibly could. He whispered, "My father." And Ladybug understood.
