A/N: Changing the year chapter 24 happened to 2011 instead of 2010 so that it matched the TVD timeline better.

~Recap from Chapter 24~

Unknown to Klaus, Faith was never taken to the police station. Instead, she had been knocked out and taken to an unknown location. Around the same time Klaus was with Haley, Faith awoke and found herself tied up in a chair. She was in a dark room with only one lamp. Out of the darkness, her captor stepped into the light causing her to gasp as she saw who it was.

Chapter 26: Adam

SOMEWHERE. 2011 A.D.

Faith stirred from her slumber. Her eyes fluttered opened only to be met by darkness. As her eyes adjusted, she realized that she could not move. She was tied to a chair. She struggled against the ropes trying to break free, but it was in vain. She was stuck. She looked around hoping to see something that would shed light on her situation. The last thing she remembered was being arrested by the police and being driven away in the police car. After getting into the car, she must've blacked out because she didn't remember anything else.

Suddenly, a burst of light caused Faith to flinch and shut her eyes. She could hear footsteps walking towards her. Finally, she forced her eyes opened. There was a hanging lamp that had been turned on and revealed her immediate surroundings. It seems she was in some sort of warehouse. Out of the darkness, her captor stepped into the light causing her to gasp as she realized who it was.

It was a young boy. No older than ten. He had mousy brown hair, pale white skin, and grey eyes.

(Character is based off Gabriel Hayward from Person of Interest: /eDDKJNYlWK8)

"Who are you?" Faith asked.

"My name is Adam." The boy replied with a young accent. "Or, you may know me as Gaia, Mother Earth, Nature."

"What?" Faith asked in confusion.

"Well," The boy stepped towards her. He had an arrogant smirk on his face. "I am the personification of Nature. You know, the phenomena that dictates the laws and forces that govern this world."

"But…"

"But what? It doesn't make sense?" Adam cut Faith off. "You would think that after all that you've seen, vampires, werewolves, hybrids, etc. etc. Mother Nature would just be another add on to the list."

He circled around her as he spoke, gesturing with his hands to demonstrate his point. All the while, he examined her. In turn, Faith watched the young boy as he moved.

"No." Adam stopped to face her again. "What doesn't make sense here is you."

"Faith Mikaelson." His words dripped with dislike.

The surprise must have shown on Faith's face because his next words addressed it.

"Yes, I know all about you Faith. I know you come from another world. I know you don't belong in this world."

"How–" Faith tried to ask but was once again cut off by Adam.

"You see, every now and then, one of you pesky beings would enter my domain. What's the word they call you nowadays? Interdimensional beings."

"So, when someone like you comes into my world, it glitches up the system." Adam continued. "This is where I come in. Nature has to correct the glitch and so it finds someone like me to do so. I am Nature's vessel or avatar you could say. I am the epitome of nature encompassing all its characteristics."

"Why are you telling me these?" Faith asked skeptically.

Again, Adam stepped to take a closer look at her.

"I was curious." He stated simply. "I wanted to learn from your ways and ensure this never happens again." His serious eyes looking into hers, daring her to do something about it.

"And boy did I learn a lot from you." He stepped back and paced in front of her. "Do you know how hard it was to correct your mistakes? Balancing things out…trading lives for lives…Jeremy, Kol, even Esther. All because you had to interfere. I had to take care of the abnormalities you caused."

"Esther?" Faith asked surprised. "Esther's dead?"

The smirk on the boy's face told her the answer.

"You killed her?!"

"Ding-ding-ding! And we have a winner!" Adam exclaimed sarcastically.

"Why? How?" Faith still couldn't quite grasp what was happening.

"She had become too much of a…" He paused for dramatic effect. "…liability."

"She had used your blood for the Immortality spell and was supposed to kill you after and of course she failed for here you are." Adam gestured towards her then sighed. "So of course, I had to step in again. When Esther encountered you, her memories started coming back so she reached out to me again. I had already manipulated her memories before, so it was supposed to be an easy thing to make her forget you again."

Faith was speechless. It was unnerving to see such a young child void of all emotions and empathy

"But it didn't work. Somehow, whenever you are involved, things have a habit of "glitching". In the end, she confronted and attacked me. Can you believe her nerve? Attacking me for her mistake?! Sure, she might have mentioned something about feeling used or something. But who cares?! This was something bigger than what she can even imagine. So, I killed her."

He said the last line with an air of nonchalance that frightened Faith.

"Everything you touch just loses control. At least with the witches, I could somehow control those abominations you call Originals." He spat the word out as if it was something rotten.

Inside, Faith burned with anger. How dare he insult them?! She had a bad feeling about him from the start and now that feeling worsened as she realized that it was him who prevented her from saving lives.

"But you…congratulations, you're Nature's glitch. A glitch in the system. An annoying thorn in my side." He accused her sarcastically.

For a moment, there was silence. Then Adam turned to his men.

"Take her away."

MYSTIC FALLS. 2011 A.D.

Elijah felt restless, a sick feeling in the stomach. The last time he felt this way was when Faith had disappeared, presumably to betray them.

But now he knew that wasn't the case and he wondered if maybe something bad could have happened to Faith.

Faith.

The name still brought up feelings of melancholy in him. Even worst now that the truth had come up. He clenched his fist as he recalled the phone call from his sister.

"Elijah," Rebekah had called him sobbing.

"Calm down, sister. What happened?"

"It's Faith…"

"What about her?" Without intending to, his heart tightened.

"She didn't kill mother. Klaus did."

Rebekah broke into sobs again and Elijah had to wait for her to continue.

"He killed her Elijah," Rebekah repeated Caroline's words to her. "Then he made up this entire lie about Faith so that he wouldn't lose us."

"How do you know this?" It took everything in Elijah to control his rising anger.

"Ca-Caroline." She stuttered. "Caroline showed me Kol's journal. It seems Kol figured it out."

"So, you're telling me that Niklaus killed our mother then lied about Faith? That she didn't kill mother or abandoned us?"

"Yes, Elijah."

Coming back to Mystic Fall certainly didn't help. It was late springtime in Mystic Fall. Everything was blooming life. However, Elijah did not feel full of life at all. In fact, he felt quite the opposite. It felt like winter to him. He felt like everything had died inside him.

The last time he had confronted his brother, words were exchanged, angers flared, and it was then that an angry Niklaus confessed. He had lied about Faith betraying them.

The moment the truth was out of his brother's mouth, Elijah's heart sunk.

He had been angry at Faith for so long that he did not know how to feel.

Yesterday, he had arrived back in town. He had not seen her since and knew that coming back to town, he would have to face her.

If he was being honest though, he was ashamed to face Faith. He was still wrestling with the truth and deciding about what to do when he caught sight of the house.

He stood in front of the Mikaelson house and knocked on the door. Seconds later, the door opened revealing his brother, Niklaus.

Now was not the time to think about Faith. He had a decision to make between his brother and sister about the cure.

He stepped into the house leaving thoughts of Faith at the door.

Katherine had obtained a cure for vampirism and had given it to Elijah. With there only being one vial, it seems to be enough only for one person. He had come to Mystic Falls to offer it to his siblings and decide who best should receive it. Grievances aside, they were still his family and they deserved a chance to obtain the cure.

Being out of the loop for a while, he did not know that Faith's blood was actually the cure. When his siblings told him, he realized there had been no need for him to return. Now that he thought about it, it made more sense. Since it was her blood that turned them, it was only logical that her blood could revert them back to humans.

He got up to leave, buttoning his suit jacket as he did. He did not want to spend another second in this town that held so many bad memories for him.

As he headed out the door, he cast a backward glance at his siblings. He stood still as if deliberating something. Then he inquired as an afterthought: "By the way, where is Faith?"

Klaus and Rebekah answered at the same time but with different answers.

Klaus: "She's in jail."

Rebekah: "She's disappeared."

"No, she's not." This time they answered in unison.

Rebekah scoffed at her brother before correcting him.

"She hasn't been arrested you wanker. Matt's been helping out at the station and he hasn't said anything about anyone being arrested for murder."

"What do you mean?" Klaus stared at her.

Elijah remained silent as he observed the exchange between his siblings. All the while, his instincts screaming something was terribly wrong.

"According to the Mystic Falls gang, she's been missing for a week. It was just after we found about our brother's lies. They've been on the look-out for her since. I figured she just wanted to get away from this town and from Klaus for a while."

Rebekah turned pale as she started to grasp that direness of the situation.

"A week ago, she was in my house when she was arrested for murder by the bloody cops!" Klaus stood up in outrage. "You're saying those cops were fake?!"

They turned to each other then to Elijah.

Shock fell on all three Mikaelson faces as they realized Faith could be in trouble.

Klaus had made a mistake. He had been so caught up in the hunter business and being angry at Faith that he had not checked up on her at all.

Immediately, there was a flurry of movement as each sibling started to move in different directions.

"I'm gonna check in with Matt again." Rebekah moved hurriedly.

"I will go to sheriff's office and find out what happened." Klaus declared, unable to hide the anxiety from his voice.

"And I will get my people to look for her." Elijah sounded and acted calm, but inside, his stomach churned uncomfortably at the thought of Faith in trouble.

SOMEWHERE. 2011 A.D.

She licked her dry lips. How many days has it been? She can't even remember the last time she'd had some food or water. She could feel the dryness in her throat.

After Adam's confession, she had been locked away in a room with no window. At first, she had studied her surroundings, trying to find a way to escape. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do. In the end, without food or water, her body weakened. Feeling lethargic, she spent most of her time asleep on the cold, concrete floor. In fact, she had been sleeping just moments ago before being awoken.

There were noises outside her room. They drew closer and closer until the doors of her room opened. The boy Adam stepped in.

"Hello Faith." He greeted her then signalled the men behind him to drag Faith out of the room.

"Where are we going?" Faith managed to ask in a raspy voice. They had brought her into a hanger with a plane.

"New Orleans."
