Chapter 25: Davy back fight

They were relaxing around the ship. Shayla was sitting on the rail and looking at the ocean deep in her mind. Now that she was back, how was she going to look for the traitor?

If he really was after Luffy, she would meet him again. But he was a bit of a coward, she doubted that would Teach approach him while she was there. She had to find a way to find him because she couldn't just let Ace do it all.

He was already weeks ahead of her, but she had the advantage of actually seeing Teach. It was embarrassing that he got away from her and she hated feeling like that. At least she got to see his crew too, but they didn't look that strong.

Shay had this fire burning inside of her that was waiting to be released. She jumped off the ship and landed on the solid water that she froze and took a step forward before roaring every bit of fire out. Once everything was out, she turned around to see the small crew look at her surprised, "That was just like a dragon, Shay" Luffy cheered.

The young woman smiled as she walked past them, "I needed that" she almost silently, but suddenly a group of sea monkeys surrounded the ship. They easily towered over them, and Shay wasn't sure how they managed to chase them from inside a wave.

No matter how much she traveled, the grand line would always surprise her.

They tried to get away from them when a ship was sailing towards them. In the beginning, they looked so depressed, and then they started to panic when the monkey waves a lot closer. They started argued for whatever reason, "Someone take the helm" a man started.

"Where's the helm"

"Like hell, I know"

"Someone give orders. Navigator?

"He's gone!"

"Captain?"

"Not here!"

The crew was in total chaos.

Shayla had a hard time believing they made it so far into the Grand line without a captain and even more surprisingly a navigator. But it sounded like they had them at some point. How did they lose them? Whatever happened might be their end as the ship was flipped by the wave. There wasn't much for them to do.

Shay sat down and observed her new weapon. She didn't want to just keep carrying it all the time.

Not if she could help it.

Shayla split it up into smaller pieces and attached them to different places on her body. She wanted to form them into real accessories so they would look better. It somewhat worked; Shay made a few bands of gold and a beautiful head bad.

Guess drawing wasn't her only talent.

One was around her waist, one on her wrist, the other forearm, and the last on her biceps. It matched perfectly with her black dress and it held everything together. They would be easily accessible when she got into a fight.

Just in time to explore a new island. The silly trio was already on the land and the rest of the adults took their time, but suddenly a huge ship appeared and chained their ship in. Zoro and Sanji were ready to take them on, when, "Don't be hasty. We are the Foxy pirates, and we want a duel".

Some members jumped down to explain that their captain was challenging Luffy to a Davy back fight and what would happen if they lost or won. Which to her sounded stupid, "Who wants to be on a crew they were forced to join and vice versa?" she thought out loud.

Either way both were bad.

"When the captains decide. Every member has to participate" someone said. Nami wanted to stop her captain from accepting, "Don't bother, we all know that Luffy will accept" Shay sighed and at that moment two gunshots were fired.

The other pirate crew quickly started setting things up and it soon looked like an amusement park.

Both captains were on the stage, and they make some agreement over something. Three coins were thrown into the water and the battle suddenly started.

The foxy pirate explained the rules and one person could only participate in one game. Once they had chosen the players, they couldn't change that. Shay watched the crew argue about who would do what. At least until Robin just made a list.

Round 1, Donut race: Robin, Nami, Usopp, and Shayla

Round 2, Groggy ring: Zoro, Sanji, and Chopper.

Round 3, Combat: Luffy

Their opponent was a blue-haired girl and a fishman. They had a short time to build their boat before the race around the island began. The other team didn't really have a ship but a shark pulling them. An eternal pose was given as a guide.

As soon as the race started, a boulder was through at them. Shayla broke it in two and soon saw the other pirates were already long ahead. Loud noises were coming from the coast after Sanji kicked them.

The small pirate crew had an advantage. They had a girl that could control the water, "Guys, I got this" she said before turning the ship in the right direction. "Hold on, cause it's going to be a wild ride".

Shay stood up and quickly moved her arms back while leaning forward. The small boat almost flew through the water. When they caught up with the others, they tried to attack them, but Usopp and Robin already took care of them.

As they continued someone was following them by the cost-line. It was the other crew's captain, 'What's he up to?' she thought. Soon they arrived at a coral reef, with a current at its roots. "Shay, you can stop now," Nami said.

She stopped and the opponent quickly passed them and almost went down, "I knew these currents were weird. Everyone row" the navigator commented. An arrow was fired in front of them, and smoke came out.

But that didn't stop them as the boat was forced ahead by the currents. After that why came to a huge whirlpool and Nami told Usopp to use the impact dial to fly them over the long cape. The long-nosed pirate had almost passed out from the pain.

Meanwhile, a sign appeared, "Go, right?" Robin questioned, "Okay, go right" the orange-haired smiled but as they got closer, she punch the sign, "Or not!".

"Wow! She saw right through the boss's special bogus sign blitz. She's tough. Does this young woman have any trust in her heart" some guy that was the announcer of the games commented, "Shut up you!" Nami snapped at him, "She talks roughly too".

Shayla giggled and sat down while the rest of them rowed.

Foxy pretended to be an old lady and his monkey crewmate cried over 'her', "Oh, I'm dying. You, there! In the boat… will you help me?"

"Boss is using another evil trick"

Of course, they didn't stop and continued sailing away, "They completely ignored him. Navigator Nami is absolutely heartless". "Shut up! Who would fall for that dumb trick" She snapped again. "She's rough too".

"Look! The goal" Usopp yelled, and once again the navigator punched the fake sigh away, "Are you stupid? I told you it won't work. It's getting old!" she yelled. "They even saw though the bogus goal blitz. She's tough, too tough. I'd like to ask her; do you know what it means to have trust in your heart?".

But Nami would have none of that, "I don't care!".

"She's a brute! In the meantime, tragedy strikes. Porsche's team has stopped at the fake goal. Aw, her heart is so pure and sweet. You're mistaken, Porsche. It's up ahead." Shayla was now on the ground laughing, "That's a new level of dumb".

"What a bunch of idiots! If we lose to them, I'll die of embarrassment." Nami said angrily. It took them some time, but they quickly caught up to them, but Usopp shot down the bamboo and hit the fishman on the head.

The female shot rosery knives at them and damaged the ship. Shay froze that part before taking control of the boat again, "You can do this, Shay!" Nami and Usopp cheered. Foxy came riding the monkey next to them again.

The finish line was closing in, they ignored him because what could he possibly do now?

"Slow-slow beam" he fired from his fingers. Shay moved the ship away from it but somehow, they were still within range, and they got hit. It was like time stood still and they could only watch as the others crossed the finish line.

Everyone else started laughing over their victory, "Now, hand over one from your crew" the enemy captain smiled. The small crew was still confused over what happened, "It's a devil fruit power" Shay started.

"You have a good eye, girl. I ate the Noro-Noro fruit, so now I can emit photons from my body. I became a slowpoke human" he yelled proudly. He demonstrated his powers by having the monkey shoot a cannonball at him.

Foxy slowed it down with his powers, 'There has to be a limit to it' Shayla thought. After about 30 seconds he got hit by the cannonball. "We won the race, so the one we want is you, Shayla" he pointed his finger at her.

"Why, me?" she question curiously, "Because you got interesting powers" he smirked confidently, "Sorry split-head. You can't have me" her smirk was easily rivaling his, "Huh...?" everyone asked inclusive the small crew, "I'm not part of their crew."

She moved her shirt sleeve up and showed everyone her pirate mark, "If you really want me. You have to fight Whitebeard". The foxy pirates took a step away from him, "WHITEBEARD!?"

Luffy was the first one to laugh as he went over to her, and his crew soon followed. Luffy held his arm around her shoulder, "You're awesome, Shay".

"I-i-if you're a p-part of W-Whitebeard's crew. Why are you with the Straw-hat" he finally managed to say, "Do I need a reason to be with my brother and his crew?" she said and clapped Luffy's cheek.

The brother part didn't shock them as to who her captain was. It took a few moments and finally shook his head, "If you aren't a part of their crew you can't participate in the games." He managed to say.

"I already played my part, so… alright" she smirked. The enemy captain was surprised that she listened and switched his focus on something else. Or rather someone else, "The one I want then is you! The ship's doctor Tony Tony Chopper."

The small crew could only watch in shock as their crewmate was taking. The small reindeer started to tear up, "Help! I don't like this. I became a pirate because of you guys. I became a pirate you asked me to, Luffy. I can't be with these guys".

Shayla looked at him, didn't anyone tell him that he couldn't act like that especially in front of their enemies. "Stop blubbering, Chopper. It's humiliating" Zoro finally interfered and slammed his drink to the ground, "The choice of becoming a pirate was your own".

The swordsman started to stand up, "Where you end up is your own fault. We accepted this challenge. Usopp and the other did their best. Pirates have no pity for crybabies. If you're a man, then act like one and see this through to the end" Zoro finally looked at him.

Nami was about to scold him, but instead, Chopper removed his tears, "That's better. Let's start the next round" he said. Both pirate crews were touched by his words, and someone suggested that Zoro should be their new crewmate next.

He and Sanji stepped into the field, ready to win this game, "There two more rounds left. We could get our emergency food supply back and some to spare." Sanji said calmly. Since Chopper was gone now, they couldn't switch players.

That meant that Zoro and Sanji had to win this game by themselves. Not that Shay doubted they couldn't do it. The two just had a special relationship and they proudly showed it by arguing with each other.

"Who's the ball," someone asked, "Him" and the swordsman quickly pointed at his teammate. The cook obviously had a problem with that, "Why do you get to decide that. You should be the ball, Marimo".

It was then that their opponents entered the field. They were three big dudes towering over the two, "Bring it on" Zoro smirked before looking back, "Get to your position, ball-man". The blond still refused, "I can't wear something so uncool".

Zoro glared at him, "Stop whining" but then he looked at him again, "Oh, it looks good on you" it was worth a shot. "I wouldn't fall for that," the cook yelled. They kept arguing about who should be the ball-man.

Until "Sanji-kun that ball looks good on you" Nami said sweetly, and the cook suddenly change his mind, "I'm the ball-man. No one is more worthy than me". Shayla sighed, 'women were really his weakness'.

"You look like a prince… from moron-kingdom" the swordsman replied. The two started fighting, when it was time to play the reformer looked at Zoro and said, "No weapons allowed". The swordsman didn't have a problem with it.

"Oi, are you going to be alright?" the cook asked concerned, "What?" Zoro questioned, "A swordsman without swords is kind of pathetic" Sanji shot back. the two fought once again.

The game started and their three opponents jumped into action by one of them charged at Sanji. But the cook was faster as jumped over him and was ready to attack the biggest one with the ball hat. He was about to kick the half-fishman, half-giant when he swung his arm.

Sanji dodged that too and was about to run up his arm, but found himself unable to, "W-what the… His skin is all slippery". The giant slammed his other palm against him and Sanji went flying towards the goal.

Zoro tried to stop him, but the one that his nakama jumped over stood in the way now. He was now spinning and when the swordsman hit him, he flew back. The same went for Sanji when he was knocked into the sky.

The monkey was in the air too after his teammate used him as a volleyball and grabbed the blond, determined to finish the game quickly. The small crew was about to lose again if they haven't gotten control of it.

Shayla doubted they could defeat the other crew if they didn't work together. She was getting a little pissed. She didn't mind them arguing at normal times but when the times call for it, they should be able to help one another.

"You guys won't make it that far if you can't lay down your pride for a crewmate," Shayla said without hesitation as Sanji, and Zoro was getting beaten up. Their opponents were pulling out weapons. The small crew looked shocked when the referencer turned around when his crewmates obviously broke the rules.

"You guys won't make it if you expect pirates to play fair," she said and Luffy was about to punch if not Usopp and Nami holding him back.

The two have been smacked like a fly.

In the end, both of them laid on the ground looked like they were about to surrender, "Oi, cook. Lend me a hand for 10 seconds" Zoro started, "It sounds like a reasonable amount of time" Sanji responded.

The strongest man's daughter smirked, 'Oh, it's finally going to be interesting' she thought.

The two got up and Sanji flipped himself to kick the monkey in the face. He landed on the ground while doing a handstand while he kicked him in the jaw as he went flying into his giant friend's pan-like weapon.

The last one was about to attack the blond while spinning when Zoro interfered. He grabbed his legs and threw him up to the air and he was still spinning when he hit the giant, cutting him in the process.

The fish-man was about to fall backward when Sanji came and kicked him upright again. Zoro had a plan when the one with the swords stood in the middle yet again. But this time Sanji kicked him to the side hitting the referencer in the meantime.

The swordsman without swords was still running when the blond extended his leg and he jumped into it. Sanji then kicked his teammate towards the giant fishman before grabbing his teeth and slamming him into the goal.

Making them the winner of the game.

Everyone was cheering and Chopper was crying shamelessly.

When the referencer finally came to, Nami gave him the whistle so he could end the game. He looked shocked and was probably expecting to punish Sanji for what he did earlier.

Now it was the Straw Hat crew to choose their new member or maybe get their old one back.

"Okay, Cho-" Luffy started but the navigator stopped him, "Round three is one-on-one combat, right? The only participants are you and the boss. If you take their boss, they'll have to forfeit. There wouldn't be any more fighting and you can get Chopper back" she suggested.

The other crew started complaining scolding the girl mercilessly.

"I hate those guys" she cried on Robin.

"It may not be against the rules, but apparently it conflicts with pirate ethnic again," Robin said.

"Of course, it does. You got what you deserved" Zoro commented.

"I'm on Nami's side," Usopp said behind the captain.

"Argh I'm getting angry," Luffy said.

But the complaints didn't stop and the other crew kept going. That was until, "Shut your mouth already. Stop getting carried away" Nami said scarily. Shayla stood behind them watching everything amusing.

"Hey, navigator-san. If we go along with your proposal we could end it right now, but their boss would join our crew" Robin stated, "We don't want him" Luffy, Sanji, Usopp, Shayla, and Zoro said in unison while waving their hand in front of their faces.

Instead, they knew who they wanted, "Chopper" Luffy yelled. And the reindeer came running hugging his captain, "Don't cry! There's no way Zoro and Sanji would have lost" he said smiling to comfort his small friend.

Shayla turned to the enemy and Foxy was depressed on the ground because they didn't want him. His crewmates tried to cheer him up but, "Enough it this ridiculous farce. On to the next game" the cook complained.

It took a while, but he has finally gotten control of himself as he stood up and faced Luffy, "Feh, feh, feh are you ready for round three, combat? I should inform you that winning against me is impossible! Any crewmember requite in the final match can't be won back" Foxy bragged.

"What? I not going to lose to you" the young captain yelled, but foxy just giggled, "There's a difference between combat and playing a game".

The two captains went over to a big canon and apparently where it hit was the field for their game. They stood on each side to spin it around, but suddenly it stopped, and it fired toward the enemy ship.

The announcer explained that their battlefield was 50m in radius and any weapon within the circle was permissible to use. No one expect the two combatants to be were allowed and the winner would have to throw his opponent outside the ring.

Well, sounded simple enough.

The foxy pirates were just setting up a huge bench for the audience to sit on while watching the show. The sky was turning black from smoke while their two bounties were displayed above them.

The two captains came out looking like boxing champions, but when Shayla saw Luffy she smirked, 'That afro looks nice on you, bro'.

The battle started with Luffy punching Foxy, but he jumped up and used his beam to slow his arm down. He tried to pull his arm back, but his body was pulled forward. The enemy captain pointed his gloved hands at him pretending to use his fruit.

Luffy jumped up to avoid it and that's when foxy decided to use it instead. Once he was frozen in midair split-head jumped onto him and punched him many times. Nothing happened at first but when the 30 seconds were up, he felt the attack full force all at once.

The young captain almost fell off but stretched his arm to save himself. He then ran after his opponent further into the ship making it difficult for them to see. There was soon a big explosion shocking them all.

But Luffy was sitting on the mast all fine before jumping down. A small door opened on the side of the ship and yet again he almost fell into the sea. It wasn't long before the two fought inside.

Shay didn't know what was going on and used her haki to see what was going on, but with that many people, it made it hard for her to use.

She remembered that that bastard earlobe had a special way of combining his devil fruit with his haki. Shayla closed her eyes and calmly activated her lightning making everyone else nervous in the process.

For the first couple of minutes, there wasn't anything, but then she started hearing whispers. The voices inside the ship became louder and she smiled, "Have you seen an idiotic fox with pinhead that splits in two?" Luffy asked while catching his breath.

Shayla's concentration broke and she burst into laughter and fell to the floor. She didn't know how long it had been, but when she finally stopped laughing everyone was cheering for Foxy.

Luffy on the other hand was on the floor bleeding.

Shay suddenly got serious and returned to her seat. When she looked again Luffy was on his feet ready to fight, and no matter how many times he fell he refused to give up, "I won't lose a single member of my crew even if it kills me".

The fight became a boxing match and when Foxy tried to use his powers, he was the one slowing down when a piece of mirror fell to the deck. Luffy finished the fight with a strong punch and started walking away.

The audience started counting down, "ZERO" they yelled, and Foxy went flying as Luffy raised his hand with a cool pose.

Shay was definitely going to draw that.

"The winner of the game is Straw-Hat Luffy!" someone announced as Foxy landed in the ocean. Every Foxy-pirate jumped off the platform and was hurrying to save their boss. They were so many that they broke the leg of the entire thing.

Luffy passed out and Chopped treated his wounds. He woke up confused, but Zoro told him he won the fight. He leaned back smiled, "Good".

Foxy approached him after getting his wounds treated as well, "Straw hat. You dare to besmirch my legendary record? Well done, brother" and extended the hand and once Luffy grabbed it he turned around, "Yeah, right! Super vengeance shoulder throw!".

But it appeared that he forgot that Luffy could stretch when he bumped his head to the ground. Foxy snapped and told them to quickly chose a crewmember, "Give me your jolly roger" he said.

Shayla widened her eyes. She was very much aware of what a pirate's mark meant for somebody. Instead, Luffy drew an awful new mark for them, "They're so grateful" he smiled, but that wasn't even close.

"Straw hat we'll remember this" and finally they were gone.

The small crew and Shayla remained on the island before they went over to the small with the old man. Luffy gave him the pirate mark and Chopper began treating the horse. The old man invited them into his house when the door suddenly opened hitting him in the face.

A tall man with black hair came out, "Who are you guys" he asked while wearing his eyes mask, "Who are you" Luffy asked. Robin fell to the ground in shock, "Oh, you've turned into a pretty woman, Nico Robin," the tall man said as he removed the mask.

The crew became alerted, and Shay swore that he looked familiar, "Oh my. Now, now don't look so murderous, my friends. I'm not here on orders. The weather was nice, so I was just talking a stroll" he explained calmly.

"Orders? What organization do you work for?" Zoro asked nervously. "He's admiral from Navy headquarters" Robin informed.

Shayla began to smirk, "I've always wanted to fight the navy powerhouses".
