A/N: Hey guys. Slightly early update again, going to be on the road in a little so decided to post this for you all now. Apologies for any spelling and grammar errors.

Kari sat there, watching the Doctor weld parts of what was one Martha's laptop to three keys that were sitting on the table. "So, uh, TARDIS keys, right?" She said, wondering if he had realised that there was only three keys and four people.

"Yup." The Doctor replied, popping the 'p'.

"Uh, you have realised that…" Kari stopped when the Doctor looked up at her and smiled.

"What, that you haven't got a key?" He asked her, before pulling another key out from inside of his jacket pocket. "Did you really think I was going to forget about you, Kari?" He asked her, placing the key next to the others.

Kari couldn't help but notice that it looked different from the others. They were all silver, while the one he had just pulled out was more of a golden colour, and was hanging on a gold chain. "Who's key is that?" Kari asked, certain that she had never seen it before in her life, not even from before she met the Doctor.

He just looked at her like she was crazy. "It's your key, of course."

"Um, no it isn't. I don't have a key. I've never needed a key so you never gave me one. I have the Midas touch that gets me into the TARDIS without a key. So that can't be my key." Kari explained, which only caused him to roll his eyes at her.

"This, is your key." He told her, holding it up in front of her. "It has always been your key, even if you haven't needed it." He told her, before slowly lowering the chain and letting the key fall into her hand.

When it was in her hand, she could feel the warmth coming from it. It should have been cold, like the others, but it wasn't, and ii just confused Kari even more. "Doctor, why is it different to the other keys? I mean, just look at it."

All the Doctor could do was smile at her. "Each key is connected to the TARDIS. You're connected to the TARDIS more than anyone, and therefore so is your key." Kari just nodded at him, pretending that it all made sense when to her it really didn't. "Anyway, now that you have your key, I'm going to need it back." She complied and placed the golden key back in his hand. "Thank you." He said, giving her a quick peck on the lips before welding something on to her key.

Soon enough there were four keys laid out on the table, three with string through them, and one with a gold chain. "Four TARDIS keys." The Doctor said, finally explaining what he had been doing. "Four pieces of the TARDIS, all with low level perception properties because the TARDIS is designed to blend in. Well, sort of. But now, the Archangel Network's got a second low level signal. Weld the key to the network and Martha, look at me. You can see me, yes?"

Martha nodded at him. "Yes." She replied, not knowing what he was going to do. Only Kari knew exactly what the Doctor was up to and what he was going to demonstrate.

"What about now?" He asked, before he quickly hung the key around his neck. Martha looked at where he had been standing, before blinking and trying to clear her vision. It was plain to see that show was having trouble seeing him. "No, I'm here. Look at me." He said, waving a little to her.

"It's like, I know you're there, but I don't want to know." Martha told him.

But Kari was standing there with a frown on her face. "Doctor… I can see you perfectly." She said, which resulted in him pulling a rather silly face at her. "Oi! Don't poke your tongue out at me." She cried, going over to him and giving him a slight shove.

He just smiled at her as he took the key off from around his neck. "And back again. See? It just shifts your perception by a tiny little bit. Doesn't make us invisible, certainly not to Kari, just a little unnoticed." He told them all.

"But how comes I could see still you? Martha couldn't but I could. Why?" Kari asked him, wanting to find out why.

"Well, because you're you, Kari. I've found that perception filters tend not to work on you. Most of the time you can see straight through them. Plus, you wanted to see me, you really wanted to see me." He said to her, giving her a wink.

Kari couldn't help but blush a little, knowing that he was referring to how sexy she thought he was. "Oh, shut up and move. Come on, we need to get a move on now."

The Doctor nodded at her, and handed the keys back to their owners. Although he made a bit of a big deal about giving Kari her key. "So, my beautiful, brilliant Kari. This is your key, your key to the whole of time and space." The Doctor told her, while Martha and Jack got their things together. "The past, the future, but most importantly, to everything that we are and have." He said, leaning down and kissing her.

Kari didn't waste any time in reaching up and wrapping her arms around his neck. Everything that she was worrying about just seemed to disappear, just for that moment, everything was as she wanted it. But the moment she pulled away from him, they were back to reality. The Doctor took a tight hold of her hand as he led them all outside and into the night.

"Don't run, don't shout. Just keep your voice down. Draw attention to yourself and the spell is broken. Just keep to the shadows." The Doctor told them quietly, as they walked down the street. It was pretty deserted, so they hoped that they wouldn't run in to too many people.

"Like ghosts." Jack said at the same time that Kari did. He was still worried about her, about how she was coping with everything and the way Martha had acted. He knew that Martha had spoken to her, but neither of them had really said anything about it when they had come back inside.

The Doctor looked down at Kari and smiled a little. "Yeah, that's what we are. Ghosts." His grip on her hand tightened just a little, as they had to move out of the way for a few teenagers that were walking their way. None of them were noticed, and they could carry on their walk in peace.

"So, where exactly are we going?" Martha asked, completely unsure as to where they were heading to or even what the plan was.

Jack shared a look with the Doctor, before both of them looking towards Kari. Her attention was focused on anything but them, the ground, her feet, anything so that she didn't have to look at them. But that didn't mean that she didn't know they were looking at her. "Air Force One is going to be landing on British soil tonight. President Winters will be greeted by Prime Minister Saxon." Her voice was rather quiet, but they still heard her. They knew she didn't like having to tell them, but she knew she had to.

"Well, we better get a move on then, hadn't we?" The Doctor said, trying to get Kari to smile at him but having no luck at all.

Before they knew it, they were standing in the shadows, watching as two men met in the dark of the night. The only problem was, they couldn't hear a thing that was being said because of how far away they were from them. They needed to keep their distance, to avoid being spotted. "President Winters is telling him that the British Army will stand down, it's now under UNIT's control." Kari's voice was still quiet, as her eyes were fixed on the two conversing men. "First Contact policy, which he has ignored, means that the President is taking over, rebranding it all in his office seal. In other words, because of the policy, they will all be heading to the Valiant. They're all meeting there at, uh, eight am." She had to stop rub her head a little.

The Doctor had noticed, just as he had noticed every little thing that she done. He knew all of her little habits, all those little things that she would do and never really notice them. "Kari, are you okay?" He asked her softly, watching her closely.

She shook her head at him, knowing what was coming next now that President Winters was leaving. "I'm sorry, Martha. I am really, really sorry." It came out as more of a mumble, but they all still managed to hear her.

Before anyone could ask her why, most of the area had cleared, apart from the Master. He suddenly looked around, sniffing at the air, as if he was trying to find where an odd smell or something was coming from. Then he looked directly at the group, standing there, watching him. Everyone seemed to be holding their breath, until the Master was finally distracted by something else.

A police van came barrelling towards him, the lights flashing as it sped forwards. They all saw the Master's face just light up and he ran over to greet it. "Ha ha ha! Hi, guys!" The Master shouted, as Martha's mother and father were both forced out of the back of the van. The last person out was Tish.

"You can't just do this!" Martha's father shouted, his hands bound, as were the rest of the family. It was clear that the Master had no intention of letting them go any time soon, and it was going to gloat over his success as well.

"Oh my God!" Martha cried quietly at the sight of her parents.

The Doctor gently placed a hand on her arm, trying to stop her from doing anything stupid. "Don't move."

"But the…"

"It's going to be okay, Martha." Kari knew it would eventually be okay, but eventually was a long way off.

The four of them watched as the Jones family were bundled into another vehicle. "I'm going to kill him." Martha spat.

It seemed that Jack was on the same wavelength as Martha with his thoughts. "What say I use this perception filter to walk up behind him and break his neck?" Straight away Kari was holding onto his arm tightly.

She was about to speak, but the Doctor beat her to it. "Now that sounds like Torchwood."

"Still a good plan." It was plain how angry Jack was, and it wasn't just because of what the man was doing to Martha's family. He was angry at him because of how it was affecting Kari, his little sister.

"Not a good plan, Jack. Really not a good plan." Kari told him, getting his attention and causing him to let out a sigh.

The Doctor smiled at her. "He's a Time Lord, which makes mine and Kari's responsibility. We're not here to kill him. We're here to save him." Jack scoffed at that comment, while Martha just looked at him, stunned.

"Aircraft carrier Valiant. It's a UNIT ship at fifty eight point two north, ten point zero two east." Jack told them, looking down at his vortex manipulator strapped around his wrist.

"Set the coordinates, Jack." Kari told him, knowing that they were going to go there, and knowing exactly what they were going to find while they were on board. It wasn't just the Master and Martha's family that were there, Kari's home was there as well.

A moment later, and the four of them were no long standing there in the night. "Oh, that thing is rough." Martha complained, not particularly enjoying travelling by vortex manipulator.

Jack couldn't help but chuckle as he helped Kari to stand up properly. "I've had worse nights. Welcome to the Valiant."

The moment she was steady on her feet, she went and stood with the Doctor, looking out of the window and taking in the sight. Martha was quick to join them, seeing the sunlight stream in through the window. "It's dawn? Hold on, I thought this was a ship. Where's the sea?"

"A ship for the twenty first century, protecting the skies of planet Earth." Now all four of them were looking out of the window, the fluffy white clouds surrounding them and the blue sky up above.

"Come on, we have things to do." Kari told them, tugging at the Doctor's hand and pulling him away from the window. There was an awful feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she was starting to realise why.

Jack took a hold of her other hand. He was able to see through the façade she was wearing, just like the Doctor was. He knew there was so much more that was bothering her and that she was doing her best to try and keep it all together now.

The Doctor stopped suddenly, making everyone else stop with him as well. "We've no time for sightseeing." Jack called to him, watching as the Doctor looked around, as if he was trying to find something.

"No, wait. Shush, shush, shush, shush. Can't you hear it?" The Doctor asked, looking between Kari and Jack. Kari just nodded at him, already knowing exactly what it was that he could hear.

"Doctor, my family's on board." Martha hadn't forgotten about them, about the way that the Master had taken them by force. At least now she was finally starting to get past blaming it all on Kari, she was starting to see that it really wasn't all her fault.

The Doctor and Kari both glanced at each other. There was a twinkle in the Doctor's eyes as Kari gave him a small nod. She knew what he could hear. "Brilliant!" The Doctor cried. "This way." He ended up dragging Kari with him down some walk ways, finally yanking the door open at the end of one. "Oh, at last!" He said, spotting the blue box sitting in the storage area. Even Martha was happy to see it.

"What's it doing on the Valiant?" Jack asked, pointedly looking at the Doctor and not Kari as they charged towards the box. They all stopped dead the moment they set foot inside the box. The warm, welcoming, orange glow that usually occupied the room had been replaced by an angry red. "What the hell's he done?"

The Doctor just stared at the console, which was surrounded by mesh, protecting it, stopping anyone from tampering with it. "Don't touch it." He said, grabbing Kari's hand and giving it a squeeze. "It can't be. No, no, no, no, no, no, it can't be."

Kari just let out a sigh and closed her eyes. She couldn't take the pain that she was feeling from what she was seeing, knowing what the Master had done to their ship. The TARDIS was a part of her, and it was distressing to see what had happened to her. "He's cannibalised the TARDIS." She whispered, at the same time the Doctor told Martha and Jack.

"Is this what I think it is?" Jack asked, in absolute shock.

Kari nodded while the Doctor gave him a verbal answer. "It's a paradox machine." Kari then dragged him around the console, showing him everything else, making him take note of the pressure gauge on the side. "As soon as this hits red, it activates. At this speed, it'll trigger at two minutes past eight." The Doctor explained after having worked it all out.

"First contact is at eight, then two minutes later…" Jack trailed off, not really knowing what to say.

Martha was the only person who didn't understand anything that was going on. "What's it for? What does a paradox machine do?"

"More importantly, can you stop it?" Jack asked the Doctor in a bit of a panic. He knew that things were bad, very bad.

"Not till I know what it's doing. Touch the wrong bit, blow up the solar system." The Doctor told them, before looking at Kari. "Kari, are you all right?" He asked, noticing that she wasn't completely there. "Kari?"

She blinked several times and shook her head a little. "Sorry, what?" Kari asked, wondering what he was looking at her with a worried expression on his face. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Everything… okay?" The Doctor asked her cautiously, not exactly sure what had just happened or what Kari had been thinking about.

Kari nodded at him. "Uh, yeah. But isn't it time we go and stop… him?"

"Yeah. How are we going to stop him?" Jack asked, looking between the Doctor and Kari. Something seemed off to him, and he knew that the Doctor had noticed it as well. When Kari said everything was okay, Jack knew that she was lying.

"Oh, I've got a way." The Doctor told them, before looking up at the stunned faces of Jack and Martha. Of course, Kari was simply smiling at him, already knowing that he had a plan. "Sorry, didn't I mention it?"

"No, you didn't. Now come on, we need to head to the flight deck." Kari told them, before she started walking towards the TARDIS doors. But something made her stop, just like something had made her lose attention to everything that was going on around her. She spun on her heel and ended up charging through the corridors, ignoring the Doctor and Jack calling out to her. She only stopped when she made it to her room.

The moment she stepped inside, there was a hum, not a happy hum, but not as bad as the humming they had all heard from the console room. With a frown on her face, she opened up one of the draws on her desk. Her eyes set on a small red box, before she grabbed it and shoved it into her bag. She didn't know why she had done that, but it felt like someone was telling her to take it, like she was going to need it.

The moment she stepped foot back in the console room, the Doctor had his arms around her. "Kari, why did you just run off? We don't know how bad things are, or what else he has done to her." He whispered to her, his hearts still beating frantically as he worried about her.

"Sorry. I just needed to grab something. Sorry, I should have said something instead of acting all whacko and just running off like that." Kari was sorry, but she still couldn't explain why she had just ran off like that to him, not when she could barely explain it to herself.

It took the group some time to get to the flight deck. They had to try and be stealthy, to keep to the shadows and sneak their way through the ship. As they came closer to the flight deck, they heard President Winters speaking to the world. "… but that we learn to see ourselves anew. For as long as man has looked at the stars, he has wondered what mysteries they hold. Now we know we are not alone." The man said, while the Doctor, Kari, Jack, and Martha crept into the room.

"This plan, you going to tell us?" Jack whispered, his eyes focused on where the Master was sitting as they walk around and to the side of the room.

"… no longer unique in the universe…" President Winters continued to say.

With his TARDIS key in his hand, the Doctor started to explain everything. "If I can get this around the Master's neck, cancel out his perception, they'll see him for real." He told them all, watching the man that had stolen the TARDIS. "It's just hard to go unnoticed with everyone on red alert. If they stop me, you've got a key." The Doctor said, nodding to Jack.

"Yes, sir."

"I'll get him." Martha hissed, thinking about her family. With her free hand, Kari gently placed it on her friends arm, hoping that she would calm down a little from the act. Martha did smile at her, even if it was just a small one.

"And I ask you now, I ask of the human race, to join me in welcoming our friends. I give you the Toclafane." President Winters announced, just as four silver spheres appeared out of nowhere. "My name is Arthur Coleman Winters, President Elect of the United States of America, and designated representative of the United Nations. I welcome you to the planet Earth and its associated moon."

"You're not the Master." One of the spheres called in a male voice.

"We like the Mister Master." Another of the spheres said, this time sounding like a woman.

It was only Kari who knew exactly what they were, and that was why she could feel a mix of emotions brewing within her. "We don't like you." The third sphere then said.

President Winters looked at them with some confusion. "I can be master, if you so wish. I will accept mastery over you, if that is God's will." It was only now that Kari noticed that the Doctor was slowly creeping around the room

"Man is stupid.

"Master is our friend."

"Where's my Master, pretty please?"

"Oh, all right then." The Master finally said, grasping everyone's attention. "It's me. Ta da! Sorry, sorry, I have this effect. People just get obsessed." He told them, getting up from where he was sitting with his wife and addressing everyone. "Is it the smile? Is it the aftershave? Is it the capacity to laugh at myself? I don't know. It's crazy."

It was clear that the President was completely and utterly confused. "Saxon, what are you taking about?"

The Master just smiled at him. "I'm taking control, Uncle Sam, starting with you. Kill him." The moment he said that, Kari unintentionally took a step forward. She knew what was going to happen, and she wanted to stop it. But she found both Martha and Jack holding her back while the Doctor had wandered off, trying to get closer to the Master.

Before she even had time to process what she had been about to do, the spheres had fired a laser at President Winters, and turned him into nothing but dust. After that, the room fell in to utter chaos. People were screaming and guns where being pointed. But the Master wasn't in a panic, and neither was his wife. He was laughing manically.

"Guards!" He shouted, resulting in his men pointing their guns at the other occupants in the room. "Now then, peoples of the Earth. Please attend carefully." That was when the Doctor took his chance, and with his key in his hand, he made a move to run at the Master, to reveal him for what he truly was. "Stop him!" The Master called, resulting in two men grabbing hold of the Doctor. "We meet at last, Doctor. Oh, ho. I love saying that."

"Stop it! Stop it now!" The Doctor spat at him, being pushed to his knees and struggling with the men who were trying to restrain him.

Kari slipped between Jack and Martha, sneaking behind them, trying to keep herself hidden. She knew that the Master was going to notice them, she just hoped if she hid, then she could get a little more time to try and stop him herself.

"As if a perception filter's going to work on me." The Master told him calmly, standing on the stairs leading to the bridge, his wife close by. "And look, it's the girlie and the freak. Although, I'm not sure which one's which." That comment only resulted in Jack charging at him. But the Master was quicker, and he swiftly pulled out a device and shot Jack with it, sending him to a heap on the ground. "Laser screwdriver. Who'd have sonic? And the good thing is, he's not dead for long. I get to kill him again!"

Martha rushed over to Jack, Kari sticking to her like a shadow. The Doctor didn't understand why she was doing it, not fully, but he just hoped that she had a plan. "Master, just calm down. Just look at what you're doing. Just stop. If you could see yourself…"

"Oh, do excuse me." The Master said, addressing the camera and the world. "Little bit of personal business." He turned away from the camera and looked back towards the Doctor. "Let him go."

The Doctor saw Kari out of the corner of his eye, noticing that she was whispering to Jack and Martha. He could see that whatever she had said, neither of them was happy with it. "It's that sound. The sound in your head. What if I could help?"

"Where is she?" The Master asked him, completely ignoring what the Doctor had just said. But the Doctor didn't answer him, he kept his mouth firmly shut. "Tell me where she is!" The man ended up bellowing, clearly not impressed with the silence from the Doctor. "Oh, no. Wait a minute, she's here, isn't she?" The Doctor kept his face impassive, not giving anything away. The Master just sniffed the air, taking a few short and sharp breaths through his nose. "Smell that?" He asked, sniffing once again, only much longer and deeper. "Oh, the smell of honey and vanilla."

"Leave Kari out of this. This is between you and me. So stop this, stop this right now." The Doctor pleaded. He couldn't let the Master find her, he couldn't let him have her, he had to distract him from her, no matter what it took.

"No, no, no, no, no. No. You see this, this is always about her. You don't get it, Doctor, you just don't see it." The Master told him, starting to act just a little more crazy. "Come on, my precious Angel, time to show yourself." He said, bouncing around the room a little.

Kari was trying to keep herself calm as she slowly crept around the room, doing what she could to avoid the Master. The way he spoke about her, it really freaked her out. She was just glad that her perception filter seemed to work better against him than the ones that her friends were wearing.

"She isn't here. Kari isn't here." The Doctor said, hoping that he would believe him. "I swear to you, she isn't here. You took her, you had her in the TARDIS."

The Master just looked at him, what looked like a fire starting to blaze in his eyes. "No. She's here. I can smell her, the honey and vanilla. You wouldn't notice it, Doctor."

All the Doctor could do was look at him. "Her shampoo." He said, causing the Master to snap his head around and look at him. Even Kari was a little bewildered at what the Doctor had said. "Honey and vanilla."

Kari watched, as did Martha and Jack, as the two Time Lords seemed to be locked in a staring contest. "I will find her, Doctor. And when I do, she will be mine. Can you imagine it? The Master and the Angel. Has a certain ring to it, don't you think?" The Master eventually said.

"I'm telling you, she isn't here. And even if she was, do you really think I would let her anywhere near you?" Kari could see that the Doctor was getting slightly angry now, and that was never a good thing.

The Master simply rolled his eyes. "Oh, how to shut him up? I know, memory lane. Professor Lazarus. Remember him and his genetic manipulation device?" He asked, sitting down on the stairs in front of where the Doctor had been thrown on the floor. "What, did you think that little Tish got that job merely by coincidence? I've been laying traps for you all this time. And if I can concentrate all that Lazarus technology into one little screwdriver… but, oh, if I only had the Doctor's biological code. Oh, wait a minute, I do!" He said, jumping up from where he was sitting and opening up a metal case. "I've got his hand. And if Lazarus made himself younger, what if I reverse it? Another one hundred years?"

Kari held her breath as she watched the writher in pain. His whole body was convulsing, and she knew what was happening to him. Her attention moved when she heard a small gasp, knowing that Jack was now alive again. "Teleport." She heard him tell Martha, giving her his vortex manipulator.

"I can't…"

"We can't stop him. Get out of here. Get out." Jack pressed. Kari was the only one who really knew what was going on, she knew exactly what was going to happen and what would stop the Master.

Martha just looked at him. "But what about Kari?" She whispered to him. "I'm not going without her.

Jack quickly glanced over to where Kari was standing, watching them, listening to them both. He gave her a small smile. "She won't leave without the Doctor, you know that. Now go, Martha."

Soon enough, the Master stopped, and where the Doctor had once been, so young and healthy, was now an old man. He wore the same clothes, but he was so much older. "Doctor? I've got you." Martha said, quickly going to his side.

"Ah, she's a would be doctor. But tonight, Martha Jones, we've flown them in all the way from prison…" The door slid open and Martha's family were brought in, all three of them with their hands bound in front of them. Martha's mother was crying, sorry for everything that she had done.

While everyone was distracted, Kari knelt down beside the Doctor, placing a hand lightly on his arm. "I know how to stop him, Doctor, but so do you." She called to him, letting him know that she knew all about his plan.

It took everything he had for him to keep his eyes set on the Master and not turn to Kari. "You need to get out of here. Go with Martha, help her." The Doctor told her. "I can't protect you from him."

"I'm not leaving you. It's not that easy to get rid of me, Theta. Remember that." She told him, a small smile on her face as she slow stood up.

"The Toclafane. What are they?" The Doctor asked, his voice raspy now that he had been aged by a hundred years. "Who are they?"

"Doctor, if I told you the truth, your hearts would break." The Master replied, before two spheres appeared, asking if it was time, if the machine was singing. "Two minutes past." He noted, looking at the time. "So, Earthlings." He started, finally going back to addressing the cameras. "Basically, er, end of the world. Here come the drums!"

The room was suddenly filled with music, a song that Kari had once liked when it had been released, but now just reminded her of the Master. But that wasn't the only thing that had happened, Kari was finding it harder and harder to breathe. There was a pain in her chest, a pain like nothing she had ever felt before. Jack could see her, and gave her a worried glace. He didn't really know what to do, because she was the only one still hidden from the Master, and he didn't want to give her away.

While the Master was busy showing his wife Lucy the destruction of the planet, the sky being ripped apart with the Toclafane just pouring through.

"Valiant, this is Geneva. We're getting slaughtered down here. Valiant, report. Help us. For God's sake, help us! They're everywhere!" A voice called through the room, while Martha listened closely to something that the Doctor was whispering to her. Kari knew what he was saying, what he was telling her to do, but she was just trying to ignore the pain she felt.

"This is London, Valiant. This is London calling. What do we do? They're killing us! The Toclafane are all around. They're killing us."

Martha looked at her family, then quickly over to Kari, before she disappeared. There were tears rolling down Kari's cheek, which she was quick to wipe away. There were only three of them left with the Master now, but she knew that Martha could be coming back, she would be back, no matter how long it took.

Finally, the Master turned around, and straight away, his eyes locked with Kari's. He tilted his head to the side a little, just looking at her before a smirk took over his face. "Finally, she shows herself." He said, before bounding down the steps and heading straight for Kari. She went to run, she tried to run, but the Master grabbed a tight hold of her arm. "Oh no, you're not getting away from me this time." The grip on her arm tightened, causing her to wince from the pain.

"Let her go!" Jack shouted, getting up off the floor, only for the Master to shoot him dead with his laser screwdriver once more.

"Please, please don't do this. You can stop this. Please, just stop." Kari asked him, staying as strong as she could. She couldn't understand how he had found her, how the perception filter that had been keeping her hidden could have broken.

The Master smiled at her some more as he breathed in the scent of her hair as he wrapped a lock around his finger. "Honey and vanilla. My favourite smell. And now, I have everything." He said, before having his wife help to get the elderly Doctor up off and floor and over to the window. "And so it came to pass, that the human race fell, and the Earth was no more. And I looked down upon my new dominion as Master of it all, and I thought it good." He said, still latched onto Kari's arm. His grip was rather tight, and she was sure that he was going to leave a lovely mark on her arm.

Kari managed to reach over and give the Doctor's hand a squeeze. There was so much sadness in his eyes, and guilt, and Kari just wished there was something she could do. The pain she had been feeling since the paradox activated hadn't gone, but it was getting more bearable. She knew that the next twelve months were going to be terrible, not just for her, but for everyone. She knew what was to come, she knew what would happen to the Doctor and Jack, and Martha's family. But the one thing she didn't know, was what the Master planned on doing with her. And it scared her to death.

A/N: Okay, so I was really just a teeny tiny tad bit nervous with this chapter. I'm not sure that I really did it any justice. I hope I did, and that you all enjoyed this chapter.

Going to leave this short and sweet today. Thank you to everyone who has read the story, and then hit the favourite/followed. An absolutely massive thank you to every single one of you who has taken the time to leave a review. They really do mean a lot to me (especially when right now I'm driving a few hundred miles across England every few days).

Well, I hope it was a good enough chapter. Until next week.

Pippa.
