She had been wandering for quite some time, but for some reason her feet didn't hurt. She didn't feel tired at all physically, but emotionally.. that was a different story.
"Excuse me?" She asked a passerby, but she was ignored.
A woman, maybe she would help? "Hello, I'm looking for the police sta-" She was cut short by the lady clutching tighter onto her purse and hurrying away.
Why wouldn't anyone help her? It was starting to get late.. maybe they were just frightened? No. Maybe they were just jerks. She sighed and kept walking, feeling more defeated with each failed attempt. The sun was beginning to set, leaving the sky painted in a beautiful mixture of pinks, blues and yellows. She took a moment to appreciate it, questions and concerns had been plaguing her mind, but for a couple minutes she felt completely at peace. When someone bumped into her, she was snapped back to reality. Right. She had to keep moving. The darker it got, the less people would be out walking around.
A group of guys were tucked in an alleyway, between two buildings. Her first instinct told her that she shouldn't go near them. She couldn't see them very well but they looked like they were around her age, and they weren't too far from the main road. Everyone else had been older, in a rush, unwilling to stop with the hustle and bustle of their day. Maybe they would be different.
She tried not to look too nervous as she approached them. "Excuse me, can one of you tell me where the police station is?"
"What the fuck?" A dark haired guy stepped closer, face twisted into a confused grimace.
Her heart began racing. When he stepped closer she took a step back, hitting the wall of the building behind her.
Another guy, a blonde one, joined the other. He propped his elbow on the first guy's shoulder, smiling ominously in her direction. "Well well well, what do we have here?" The two boys gave her a once over, with twin amused expressions.
She should have listened to her first instinct..
"I- I think. You know, I'll just get help from someone else. Sorry to disturb you." Her pace was faster than it had been all night, as she scurried away from them.
She was stopped. The third guy appeared in front of her so suddenly, that she gasped, hardly able to stop from crashing into him. "Where do you think you're going?"
Blood red eyes bore into her, sending her heart pounding at an alarming rate. It was dark now, but she could see his eyes clearly, practically glowing with threat.
Yeah. Walk into an alleyway to bother three strange guys, in the middle of the night. What a great idea..
"You looking for a fight?" The dark haired one said from behind her. She didn't take her eyes off the crimson ones in front of her. He had moved so impossibly fast, she was scared to look away, afraid of what she might miss.
"Fight? Why would I-"
Fire shot out from the guy's hand, drawing her attention away from his eyes, away from the smirk that was spreading across his face. Her eyes went wide, and she finally whipped around, looking for a way to escape. Instead, the blonde lifted his hand, jolts of electricity sprang from his palm violently. She was trapped between them.
A blood curdling scream ripped from her throat. The three boys exchanged a very confused glance, before rushing over to her, to cover her mouth. Tears began to stream from her eyes without warning.
The raven haired guy uncovered her mouth, hoping that she wouldn't scream again. "Uh, I think something's wrong with her dude." He looked at the red one.
Through her crying eyes, she watched as he brought his hand closer to her. "Don't touch me!" She yelled, a little bite in her voice now. She was starting to get upset, her body felt strange. Her eyes felt strange. The red boy backed up, withdrawing his hand, and the three of them stared at her. "I just wanted help." She slid down the stone wall, until she was sitting. A mix of emotions were coursing through her, she was angry and confused and overwhelmingly scared. She stared down at her hands, wondering who she was and even more hot tears welled in her eyes. Then without warning, and obviously unbeknownst to her, a red beam shot from her eyes. It lasered into her wrists and she screamed again. More from the shock than from the pain.
"Blossom?" Suddenly one of them was kneeling down beside her, his hand rested gently on her shoulder and the beams died out as she relaxed slightly. Hesitantly, she looked up to meet his red eyes again, only this time they were softer. "Are you okay?"
She shook her head slowly, her wrist hurt but it was starting to feel better already. Oddly enough. What was going on? "Blossom?" She asked meekly. "Do I.. know you? I mean.. Do you know me?"
Another round of curious looks between the three boys, left them all stunned silent.
For a moment it crossed Brick's mind that she could be pulling his leg, toying with them. Maybe it was a distraction? A really strange one? Were her sisters going to pounce on them any second? He looked around, focusing his super hearing, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. If this was a plot, it was certainly.. creative. But he had never known Blossom to be the type to come up with a plan like that, and no way would Buttercup be able to hold back for so long. "I'm Brick, this is Butch and Boomer." He pointed to each of his brothers. "And you're Blossom Utonium."
Her tears had stopped, leaving her cheeks stained with the remnants of water. She no longer felt threatened, so her breathing was returning to normal. "So we're friends then?" Not waiting for an answer, she sighed in relief, throwing her arms around his neck and melting into him.
Definitely not a plot.
Brick was frozen. And it wasn't from the ice powers that she didn't remember she had. She was in distress, with no memory, and they had already upset her.. he didn't want to be insensitive and pull away. Besides, she smelled really.. Was that peppermint? He found himself hugging her back, taking in her sweet scent and the softness of her skin. For a moment it was only the two of them, cut off from the rest of the world. Then his brothers started laughing, tearing him from his temporary bliss. He hid the blush that swept across his cheeks, in embarrassment as he finally pulled away from her.
"We're not exactly friends." He cleared his throat. "We.. haven't seen each other in a while."
"Oh." She slumped down a little.
"Should we.. take her home?" Boomer asked.
Blossom's eyes widened again, "No!"
"No?" Butch asked, furrowing his brows.
"I don't- I can't remember them.." She admitted.
The three guys communicated silently for a minute. They knew what it was like to be thrown into situations where you didn't know anybody.. How hopeless it could feel.
"Townsville is kind of far." Brick said, a hint of suggestion in his tone.
"I wonder why she's all the way in Metroville anyway?" Butch asked.
Brick stood up and helped Blossom to her feet. She seemed to have calmed down a lot. Boomer and Butch looked to him for a solution, he was their leader after all. "Look, you can stay the night at our place if you want." He offered. His brothers nodded their agreement behind him.
Blossom wasn't completely sure that it was a good idea, but they seemed okay and they knew her. That was something. She wasn't ready to go home yet, seeing her family when she couldn't even remember their faces was just too weird.. What would they think? So she reasoned that staying one night with the boys wouldn't be so bad. Maybe they could help her get her memories back. She was more confused than ever, recalling their strange abilities, but she had shot a laser beam from her eyes.. they were obviously connected in some way. Right? This might be her best chance to figure out who she was.
"Thanks Brick." She smiled warmly at him. "Boomer and Butch." She gave them both a smile too, to show her gratitude.
"Come on, we live nearby." Brick said, leaving the alley.
Blossom grabbed his arm, clinging to him as they walked. It was bizarre.. but he didn't stop her.
Back at the boys place, the four of them watched tv for a couple of hours. Weirdly enough, Blossom could remember just about everything that wasn't directly related to her identity in some way. They mostly sat in silence, Brick and Blossom on one couch and Boomer and Butch on the other. When her stomach started growling, Brick admitted that they had no food in the house and that they really needed to go grocery shopping. Boomer laughed when he said it, revealing that they probably never had groceries in the house. Butch handed her a box of dry cereal to snack on while they waited for a pizza.
"This is really good." She exclaimed, popping a few pieces into her mouth. "I don't think I usually eat cereal. But I do remember it."
Boomer and Butch both opened their mouths and tilted their heads back. Rolling her eyes she took turns tossing them each pieces of cereal. Brick joined in eventually and they laughed until dinner arrived.
Blossom finished two slices, while each boy had nearly a whole pizza to himself. After they had their fill it was close to midnight and she was starting to doze off.
"Let's let her get some sleep." Brick gestured for his brothers to head to their rooms, then he turned to Blossom. "I'll get you some blankets." He was half tempted to give up his bed for her to get a better night's sleep, but the thought of a Powerpuff alone in his room was.. frightening to say the least. Especially when he didn't know she was coming, and had no time to clean up or anything. So the couch would have to do.
She was asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. It had been a hell of a day, after all.. from what she could remember.
End of day 1.
This idea came to me yesterday, and I couldn't wait to start it, idunno why. Anyway I plan on doing 30 chapters. Uploading one chapter every day hopefully, possibly every two days. Chapters will be pretty short to keep uploads possible. I might change the rating later. Thanks for reading! Please leave a comment (:
