The next morning was a particularly sunny one, indicating that it was going to be a nice day. The warm, golden rays shone through the half open blinds, filling the room with brightness. A brightness that Brick found extremely annoying, while he was trying to sleep.
After tossing and turning a few times, he let out a strangled groan into his pillow. "Damn it." He said aloud, rubbing his face and tired eyes heavily. There was no way he was going to be able to fall back asleep now. It was his own damn fault for forgetting to close the blinds all the way before bed.
He rolled over, pulling his phone off the charger and pressed his finger to the sensor to unlock it. He swiped away the notifications, most of them from girls, without bothering to read them. He wasn't interested. Instead, he went to the Townsville news page, to see if there was anything related to Blossom or the Powerpuff girls. There was a press conference being held live. He tuned in to see if he could find out what was going on with Blossom.
Bubbles and Buttercup were joined by The Professor as well as the Mayor.
"There was a terrible accident yesterday. During a fight with a new villain, Blossom was hit with a special attack. Although details of the attack are unknown, we're pretty sure she is suffering from memory loss. Possibly amnesia. If anyone has any information that could lead to her safe return please don't hesitate to contact the Powerpuff hotline. Thank you for your time."
There was more but that was enough for him to close the page. Amnesia? Made sense. She was definitely suffering from partial memory loss.
He still couldn't believe that Blossom Utonium was at his house, she hung out with him and his brothers and then spent the night. How fucking weird. He checked the time on his phone, it was nearly 11am, and he wondered if she was awake yet.
He carefully creaked open his door and crept into the living room. The house was mostly quiet, aside from Butch's heavy breathing. He floated over to the couch, where Blossom was still asleep.
Panties.
He didn't mean to look, but it was kind of hard when they were right there. He should have given her something else to sleep in, but it honestly hadn't crossed his mind. She was lying on her side, on top of the blanket. Her flowy pink dress had risen to her waist, twisting around her midsection, revealing her white satin panties. His mouth fell slightly open, as he accidentally noticed that she had a very nice figure. He felt his face flush, and tore his eyes away from her sleeping body. He heard Boomer stir in his bedroom and rushed to grab a second blanket to cover her with, so nobody else would see her.
Definitely not how he ever expected to see his old nemesis..
Blossom woke up when she felt the weight of something being laid over her body. Her rose pink eyes fluttered open to find Brick covering her with a blanket. He looked away, slightly embarrassed when their eyes met.
"Uh, sorry. Didn't mean to wake you." He rubbed the back of his neck, awkwardly, before taking a seat on the empty sofa.
She yawned and stretched, sitting up. "Thanks." She gestured to the second blanket, noticing that she was lying on top of the first one. He shrugged her off.
"So, your family held a press conference today for your whole town-"
"I'm sorry, I really have to use the bathroom." She jumped up, grabbing her purse and hurried off before he could finish.
He thought nothing of it, she did just wake up. Actually, he had to take a leak too.
She was lucky she had a purse with her. It had an extra pair of underwear as well as her toothbrush inside.
"So." Blossom said, when she came back out, "What's your favorite breakfast?"
He cocked an eyebrow curiously, watching as she started folding her bedding. "Umm, idunno.. Bacon?"
"Bacon isn't exactly a full meal." She laughed. "What else?"
"I'm not picky. Eggs, pancakes, toast. I don't care as long as there's some kind of meat."
"Huh, so you like meat?" She teased with a smirk.
Brick narrowed his eyes at her, but softened his gaze when she nearly busted out laughing at her own joke. He had never known Blossom to joke at all, let alone make dirty jokes. He was surprised, curious about her.. "Ha ha very funny."
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Is there a store near here?"
"Why?" He asked, somewhat taken aback.
"Well I just thought I'd make some breakfast, you know, to thank you for letting me stay the night." She fiddled with her hands in her lap.
His eyes widened initially at the idea but then, "Oh.. I don't think-"
She stood up then, remembering something, and grabbed her purse off the table. She pulled out a small pouch and threw it to him. "Don't worry, I have money."
He caught it, but paid it no mind. He scoffed, "I'm not worried about your money."
"Then.. what is it?" Her face fell a little.
"It's just.. well…" He trailed off, unsure of how to finish.
Blossom waited for him to continue but he looked lost in thought. "Oh, you're probably busy. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed-" She rambled.
"I'm not busy." He said, absentmindedly playing with the zipper on her money pouch. "Nevermind. There's a supermarket a couple blocks over. We can walk." He glanced down at the pouch in his hand, which was currently unzipped and he noticed a huge wad of money through the opening. "What the hell?" He said, pulling it out. "Why were you carrying around this much cash?"
Blossom raised an eyebrow and joined him on the other couch, as he fanned out her money. "I don't know." She said. "I didn't realize there was so much."
He quickly counted it. $2,350 in mostly hundreds.
"That's a lot of money to have on you at once."
She nodded her agreement. "You're right. I have no idea.." She didn't seem too bothered by it though, moving on. "So, bacon then?" She smiled.
"Did I hear someone say bacon?" Butch came out in his boxers, salivating.
Walking through the store, Blossom picked out a variety of things to make for breakfast, while Brick picked up a few other groceries for the house.
"Hey Brick?" She asked, checking to make sure none of the eggs in her carton were cracked.
"Yeah?"
"Before, you said we weren't exactly friends. But you know me.." She said it so casually.
He didn't know exactly how to tell her this kind of thing. It was a lot. But he wasn't about to hide anything from her when she was asking him directly. "We were actually enemies."
She snickered. "Enemies? What do we live in a cartoon?"
He chuckled too. "Sometimes it seems like it. But I'm serious."
"Okay…" Blossom gave him the benefit of the doubt. "Then.. Why were we enemies?"
He took a moment to think. "Well, that's where things get tricky.." She stopped shopping and stared at him expectantly. He sighed. "This is going to sound strange, but try not to get too freaked out. You and your two sisters were created in a lab. You're a superhero.. with powers." Blossom's jaw fell open, but she didn't say anything. Just stood there, listening in confusion. "Me and my brothers were created in a similar way, to… destroy you."
While what he was saying sounded absolutely absurd.. she didn't forget about last night. The fire, electricity, speed and of course the laser beams that had shot out of her own eyes and sliced her wrist. She looked down, it was completely healed, no sign that anything had ever happened.. So yeah, it sounded crazy.. but was it?
"Why would somebody want you to destroy us? If we're superheros.. doesn't that mean we're.. good?" She cocked her head, like a puppy, waiting for an answer.
He had never really thought about it before, it was just what he was born to do and had blindly followed for a good portion of his life. All his brother did. When he was a child he thought he hated the Powerpuff girls, as he got older he definitely disliked them.. but only because they had already been fighting for years. They had been bested so many times and kept fighting over the years, determined to win. Brick had found Blossom uppity, self righteous and annoying.. but he never really knew her.
"Well, we were created by villains.. so.."
"Oh." Blossom replied. "That makes sense then."
She smiled at him and started walking, to pick out bacon and sausage. "Are you coming?" She said over her shoulder, when he didn't follow.
He was confused by how easily she had accepted everything he told her. Didn't she have any more questions? He was still lost in thought, but walked after her.
"So when did you stop hating me?" She finally asked, breaking the growing silence.
"Huh? Oh, um. I guess… It's been about four years since we've fought, or really seen each other." He shrugged.
She nodded, setting a few items in her basket. "So you lost interest in me then?"
"Yeah."
She raised an eyebrow ever so slightly.
"Well, no! I mean.. not like that-" He stammered, struggled to find the right thing to say. It had been a long time since Brick was that.. flustered.
Blossom giggled lightly to herself watching Brick blush and decided to throw him a bone and pretend she didn't notice, continuing through the store.
"Wow, you're making all this?!" Butch asked excitedly, walking into the kitchen after his shower.
The house was filled with the delicious scent of food, a smell which the boys had never really known, but were definitely enjoying. Having raised themselves from a young age, they never had anyone to cook for them. They very rarely made actual meals, though they were pros when it came to using the microwave, and dabbled in easy oven meals. Aside from that, restaurants and takeout were the closest thing they'd ever had to a home cooked meal.
Needless to say, the three boys were really excited, crowding around Blossom as she cooked a heaping variety of different foods. Luckily for them, she really enjoyed cooking.
They didn't have a dining room table, so she piled all the plates onto the coffee table. Eggs, toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon and hash browns covered every inch of the table's surface. The four of them sat around the table on the floor, tv playing in the background. They praised Blossom's cooking, moaning as they ate.
"I could definitely get used to having you around." Butch said, while the others enthusiastically nodded their agreement.
End Day 2
