"Hey Brick?" Blossom was biting her lower lip and looking up at him in a way that made him a little nervous.
"Yeah?" He asked hesitantly.
"If you don't want to it's totally fine, I can ask Boomer or Butch, but.. I need to go shopping." She smiled cheesily at him, in an almost pleading way. Letting him know that she really wanted it to be him that went with her.
She would've gone alone, but the boys really preferred that one of them be with her at all times, lest something happen. She didn't mind at all, but she also didn't want to be a burden on them.
"Shopping? Okay, no problem." He shrugged. "I'll grab my jacket and we can head to the corner market." He started walking into the house but stopped when he heard her speak again.
"Umm actually.. I need to go to the mall." She confessed, twirling a long lock of her auburn hair around her index finger.
He was almost hypnotized by the way the sun caught her shiny hair, causing it to glisten. Luckily he was able to come to his senses and stop staring before she noticed. He absolutely despised the mall, but how was he supposed to say no to her?
"The mall, huh?" He crossed his arms in mock irritation.
"Yeah, if I'm going to be staying here, I need some… things." She told him, dropping her hair and joining him near the front door.
He raised an eyebrow, that to anyone else, would have been intimidating. "And it has to be the mall?"
"Yes." She smiled. "I know Boomer likes to shop, but I wanna get in and out. And for.. reasons, I don't really wanna ask Butch." She bit her lip again, not realizing how cute she looked when she did it and how she was unknowingly ensuring that he would take her.
"Fine then."
She smiled happily and Brick couldn't help but smile too.
"Thank you!" She squealed, dashing past him and into the house to get her purse.
"Don't thank me yet."
She turned around, confused by what he meant and saw a smirk pulling at the corners of his devilishly handsome face. "Why?" She was scared to find out the answer.
"You're going to try out one of your powers on the way there." He chuckled, heading to his room.
She was left in the living room speechless, wondering what the power was and how they were going to practice in public.
When they were both ready to leave, Blossom's heart was thumping away in anticipation. It would be her first time using one of her powers since she had accidentally hurt herself with her eye beams. Needless to say, she was a little scared to try again. But she trusted Brick and knew she would be safe as long as she was with him.
"Okay. Here's lesson one. In my opinion it's the most useful power we have." He slowly lifted into the air, hovering just a couple feet above the sidewalk, smirking as her jaw dropped. When he had her full attention, he shot off into the air and flew until he was completely out of her line of vision.
Blossom stared up above, eyes wide with a feeling she couldn't quite describe. They could fly? They could seriously fucking fly?
Brick flew up behind her before she had a chance to realize, tickling her sides while she was still paying attention to the sky.
She yelped, and whipped around to find him smiling stupidly behind her. "Brick! What the hell!" She punched his arm playfully.
"Sorry, I had to." He laughed. "You left yourself wide open."
"Not that!" She rolled her eyes. "Why the hell didn't you tell me that you could fly? That I could fly?!"
He took a step closer to her, very close to her, and leaned into her ear. "You never asked." He zipped away again, leaving her hair to blow in the wind that he had caused around her, with his speed.
Everytime his mouth was that close to her she felt a tingle in her stomach and goosebumps swept over her body. She smiled to herself, wondering what had gotten into him. Maybe flying made him happy? Because he was suddenly in a great mood, not that he was in a bad one before, but still.
"Ready?" He asked, holding his hand out to her.
She didn't have to think about taking it, she was overcome with an excitement that she had never felt before. "What do I do?" She asked. "Is it like Peter Pan? There's obviously no pixie dust, but do I just have to believe?" She laughed, knowing that it sounded ridiculous.. then again so did the act of flying in general, so who could judge?
Brick cocked his head. "What the fuck are you talking about?" He could barely contain his laughter. He grabbed her hand and pulled her off the ground, listening as her breath hitched. "It's in your DNA silly, just fly." He said, letting go of her, "Or, you know, float."
She hadn't even realized that he had let go of her, because she was staring down at the ground, way below her. "What if I can't do it?" She asked, finally looking up to meet his eye.
He smirked. "You're already doing it."
Sure enough, she was floating. Brick's hands were nowhere near her. He was right, the ability to fly was built into her DNA. As soon as she had gotten into the sky, her body acted on it's own, allowing her to float so that she wouldn't fall.
It was amazing.
"Now, what the hell is Peter Pan?" He asked, perplexed.
She was quite a bit slower than him, scared to fly as fast as she could since she was just starting out, but they still made it to the mall in record time. Well, a record for her anyway. Much faster than it would have been to take a taxi.
In Townsville, Brick would have been worried about someone seeing Blossom's pink steak in the air, thus giving away her location.. But he wasn't worried about that in Metroville. It was a ways away, with no monster troubles of its own. Sure, there were people there who knew of the Powerpuff Girls, but they probably didn't know that one was missing, since they didn't get Townsville news there. Even if they did know, the people of Metroville we're busy, they minded their own business. They also knew that they had a few supers of their own, so it wasn't a shock for people to be flying.
She was smiling the biggest smile that he had ever seen when they landed. The thrill of her first fly was practically glued to her face and it didn't look like it would be leaving anytime soon.
"Is my hair okay?" She asked him, running her hands through it quickly.
"Perfect." Brick replied, trying hard not to stare.
It probably wasn't perfect in her opinion. But she had asked him. Her hair was wild from the wind and would probably take forever to brush. That's probably why she had always opted to wear her hair up before. Why Buttercup kept her hair short and why bubbles kept hers short and pulled back. To Brick though, her hair really was perfect. She looked beautiful, like she was radiating life. But he would keep that part to himself.
The first store that Blossom had dragged him to, was an average teenage girl clothing store. It was colorful and upbeat pop music played throughout the shop. He hated the girly crap that his generation called music, in fact, he hated the whole store.
"I'll be waiting right here." Brick took a seat at an empty bench just outside of the store.
Blossom rolled her eyes, already figuring as much from him. It would be easier to get in and out on her own anyway.
Twenty minutes later, Blossom zipped out of the store with arms full of bags and straight over to Brick, who had his eyes closed. "Brick!" She beamed, joining him on the bench. "I used my super speed!"
He was startled, practically jumping out of his seat at her unexpected approach. "You did?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I was trying to hurry and it just.. happened." She explained, as cheerfully as a kid on Christmas morning.
When he noticed all the bags she was carrying, he knew she had mastered it. Only twenty minutes had passed, no normal person could pick out that many clothes and checkout in that amount of time.
He took the bags from her. She of course, wasn't struggling at all, she could lift a whole building, but she had more shopping to do and no free hands.
"Just two more places I need to go." She dashed off and Brick followed.
He waited outside again, while she went into a store that sold shampoos, body washes and lotions.
When she came back out she headed straight for the last place on the list. Brick was more than a little impressed with how quick she was being. Did she hate shopping? Or was she just trying to hurry for his sake? Either way it was much appreciated.
When Blossom suddenly stopped in front of the next shop, he recognized the name immediately. It was a lingerie store. She disappeared inside and left him outside, mind wandering with all kinds of images. Fuck, he couldn't help it. He tried to keep his eyes away from the entire place, but after a moment he looked up and saw Blossom holding up a pair of panties. A tiny, microscopic pair of panties… He gulped loudly and was thankful that nobody was around to notice. He was even more thankful that Butch hadn't been the one to take her. Annnd now he knew why she hadn't wanted to ask him.
He spent the rest of the time staring at his phone so that he wouldn't get another peek at whatever she was shopping for. As much as he couldn't stop imaging.. or remembering what her body had looked like when he accidentally saw her lower half that second morning.. it was none of his business and he was trying really hard not to think about those things.
She was blushing when she came back out with her newest bags. Brick didn't look her in the eye for the whole walk out of the mall.
"Hey Brick.." She started, as she lifted into the sky to go back home, "Thanks for coming with me. And you know.. for teaching me how to fly." She zoomed off, leaving him to carry her plentiful bags, but for some reason.. he didn't mind at all.
