She hadn't been expecting it, it honestly had never crossed her mind before that night. But once they slept together, she realized it really did make the most sense. It would stop either of them from having to worry about the other and they could both sleep well every night. The biggest surprise was how easily Brick had agreed to it. Well, he didn't actually agree, he just didn't disagree. Blossom didn't know if it would become an every night thing, but when she woke up that morning and saw how peaceful he was when he slept, she hoped it would. Instead of getting out of bed when she woke up, like she normally would have, she fell back asleep with a pleasant smile.
They were lying on the bed in a half assed kind of way. Brick was close to the edge of the bed, with no blanket, which was fine since he never really used one anyway.. especially in the summer. He was plenty hot on his own. Blossom was still wrapped awkwardly in the comforter from when she had taken it in the living room the night before. Neither of them were using a pillow, even though they were inches from their heads. Still, it was the best sleep that Brick had gotten in a long time, and not just the past two nights that he had been on the sofa. And if his guess was right, it was because Blossom was beside him. She was smiling in her sleep. Did she always do that? He wasn't staring at her.. He just had his eyes open and she just so happened to be laying right there.
It crossed his mind when she pulled him onto the bed, that she wanted him to stay. Only to keep him from sleeping on the couch, of course. But when she actually said it, that the bed was big enough for both of them, he thought his heart was going to jump out of his chest. Like he said before, he was done being a pussy. He was a teenage boy and he had teenage hormones, but he wasn't about to keep running away from her. Maybe sharing a bed with her would be beneficial. The closer he got to her, the less nervous he would be around her. She clearly didn't mind being so close to him, or she wouldn't have suggested it.
He didn't want to get out of bed and risk waking her, so he laid there for a long while.
Butch and Boomer stood in the doorway of Brick's bedroom, whispering like two teenage girls. The two of them woke up that morning and were surprised when they didn't see either Brick or Blossom in the living room, since they were always the first ones up. They assumed they might have been outside or maybe that they'd gone somewhere, but then Butch had spotted them in bed when he walked by.
"What the hell?"
"What do you think they were doing in there?"
Brick sighed. He should've known that his nosey brothers would be, well… nosey. But he couldn't really blame them, he was randomly in bed with Blossom after all.
"We were sleeping." Blossom said, launching a pillow at the two giggling spies.
Butch caught it with one hand.
"Yeah… together." Boomer teased, hiding behind his green brother.
Brick sat up and sent a look their way that immediately made the two boys retreat.
Guess it was time to wake up.
"You have a tinder?" Blossom asked, more than a little surprised, although she probably shouldn't have been.
"Yeah." Boomer shrugged, like it was no big deal. Because it wasn't. "Butch got me into it."
Butch grinned like a cheshire cat. "All guys have a tinder."
She couldn't help that her eyes automatically flickered over to Brick. His eyes had done the same, and they made brief, awkward eye contact.
"That's far from true." Brick rolled his eyes, and Blossom felt the slight tension leave her body.
"Well all guys should." Butch changed his tune, having been proven wrong
Blossom rolled her eyes now. Boys.
"Girls too." Butch sent a pointed look her way, with a sly smile. "Whatcha think Bloss, want me to help you set one up? Or do you already have your eye on someone else?"
She nearly choked on the air that she sucked in when she gasped. Her eyes were daring to dart over to where Brick sat, but she wouldn't let them. She forced them to stay far away from him, scared that she might give herself away.
Brick didn't look too happy about his line of questioning either, but he stayed silent, jaw clenched.
"Uh no. Well, I mean.. I'm not interested in that sort of thing." She kept her eye contact to a minimum, mosty staring at the floor.
"What sort of thing?" Boomer asked, confusedly.
"Dating?" Butch wiggled his eyebrows, suggestively. "Or boys in general?"
Her whole body got warm, completely flushed. What an awkward conversation to be stuck in when the guy she was crushing on was right there. She opened her mouth to speak but Boomer beat her to it.
"Wait, you don't think she might be.." Boomer's eyes moved from Butch to Blossom. "Bloss, are you les?"
Blossom's eyes went wide and Brick looked like he was trying really hard not to beat the shit out of his dumbass brothers. "You don't have to answer that."
God. How embarrassing. Not being a lesbian, of course! Just the whole conversation.. and the fact that Brick even thought it was a possibility, meant that maybe Blossom had been failing completely when it came to him. Did he honestly have no clue that she liked him? "I'm not!"
"That's too bad." Butch winked at her jokingly. "It would've been really hot." Boomer and Brick nodded in agreement, without even realizing it.
"Brick!" She scolded, and he quickly turned his nod into a disapproving head shake.
"I meant that I'm not interested in tinder."
"Ah, gotcha."
They knew she wasn't a lesbian. Because Boomer and Butch both knew that she had a thing for Brick, they were just teasing, trying to see if she would spill. Plus.. they couldn't help it if her being involved in some girl on girl would be hot.. Blossom was an attractive girl after all, even if they didn't look at her in that way.
"Anyway.." Boomer said, standing. "I have a date tonight."
Blossom smiled, happy for Boomer. He looked excited and she wanted him to have fun.
"A date date, or a fuck date?" Butch asked casually.
"Butch!" Blossom smacked him on the arm.
"What? I was just asking!"
Blossom sat on Boomer's bed, while he tried on a variety of different outfits, looking for the perfect one.
She walked over to his closet, and browsed through his shirt collection, pulling a few hangers down and adding them to the ever growing try on pile. One shirt in particular, stuck out to her and she reached for it automatically. It was red in a sea of blue. Her fingers grazed over it and she forgot that Boomer was still standing there.
"Blossom?"
She snapped back to reality, red probably wasn't his color.
"Ooh I like that one!" Blossom approved his outfit, as he smiled happily in the mirror.
"Good. I do too."
"So, what kind of girl is she?" Blossom asked, wanting some details. Boomer was the only one of the boys she could talk to about these kinds of things. Butch was so vulgar when it came to girls, and Brick.. Zero chance she was gonna talk to him about girls and she really hoped that he would never mention anyone else.
He ran his hands through his messy hair, trying to get it just right. "Well, she's pretty. Blonde. A waitress."
That's.. distinctive.
"Okay." She laughed. "What kind of girl are you looking for?"
He shoved his hands in his pants pockets. "Idunno. Someone who's cute and sweet, likes to have fun, determined, with a bubbly personality." He smiled down at his feet, sheepishly and then caught himself and quickly sprayed some cologne on.
"Someone like that sounds perfect for you." She agreed, handing him a pair of shoes.
Blossom was getting really tired, she couldn't stop yawning, but she didn't know how the sleeping arrangement was going that night and she was too nervous to ask.
Realizing that she was dozing off, Brick nudged her. "Hey, you ready for bed?"
Butch was still playing video games and Boomer hadn't returned from his date yet. She originally wanted to stay up and wait for him, but it was already 1am and she didn't know when or if he would even be back tonight.
"Yeah." She said, hoping that he would give her some sort of direction.
"Okay, I'll be in there in a minute."
She nodded and walked into his room, not alluding to the fact that she was more nervous than ever now. So they were going to be sharing a bed then? It's what she wanted, but that did nothing to calm the swarm of butterflies in her stomach. The previous night she had fallen asleep before she even realized it, tonight would be different.
She got ready for bed that night with extra precision. Sleeping next to someone you like was nerve wracking.. She had to make sure she smelled good and obviously looked good. Normally she wouldn't have spent so much time messing with her hair before bed, but girls with crushes didn't always do things that made sense.
Blossom wore a pair of short cotton shorts and a white tank top to bed, like usual. It was her favorite sleepwear.
When Brick walked into his room a few minutes later, he found Blossom sitting on the edge of the bed, scrolling through her phone. She was beautiful, and it made him even more nervous than he already was. What right did someone like him have to climb into bed with a girl like her? Even if it was specifically to sleep.
He just had to remind himself that they did it last night, so it would be no problem doing it again.
She noticed Brick standing in the doorway and smiled at him shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "So, which side do you normally sleep on?"
Blossom breaking the silence so casually, made him feel much more at ease. If she was cool with it then he had no reason to worry either.
"I usually sleep right in the middle, actually." He laughed. "But last night seemed fine.. I thought."
"I thought so too." She bit her bottom lip.
Now that they were talking about it, she didn't feel as awkward either, although her heart was still going crazy. Just knowing that she was about to be so close to him, in such an intimate way…
"So, I'm kind of a blanket hog.." She admitted.
"Thats fine, because I'm kind of a hot sleeper anyway." He ran his hand through the back of his hair.
She giggled. "I can believe that."
Brick turned off the light, thankful that he had night vision to help him move around the room without bumping into anything, like a klutz. That's the last thing he needed.
"Brick."
"Yeah?"
"Do you.. always sleep in your jeans?"
He chuckled in the dark. "Not when I sleep by myself, no."
"You're not sleeping in jeans!" She laughed in disbelief. "It's making me uncomfortable just thinking about it."
"I don't have like, actual pajama pants. I don't wear shit like that."
She for up and turned the light back on. "I know you don't." She rolled her eyes playfully. "Just wear what you would wear if I wasn't here."
Seemed simple enough.
"Uh, that won't work." He smirked, folding his arms over his broad chest.
She raised an eyebrow, curiously. "And why is that?"
"I usually sleep in my boxers."
"Okay. What the problem? Run out of boxers?" She laughed at her own joke.
Why was she so unbothered?
"No. I'm not sleeping in my underwear… with you. You're a girl."
Shit. Now there were.. certain images coming to mind.
"Boxers are basically just shorts. And anyway Butch walks around in his underwear all the time."
It was true. Butch hated wearing pants when he didn't have to.
Her face went a little pink. "I mean, I'm not trying to pressure you or anything. I just meant, if you wanted to, I wouldn't mind." Somehow she managed to sound even more embarrassing than she already did. Great going Blossom.
He had been in his swimming trunks around her.. so maybe it wasn't that different. "I guess you're right. Well if you change your mind-"
"Brick, that's not gonna happen."
"Okay then."
He flipped the light switch back off and Blossom crawled into her side of the bed, listening to the clanking metal of Brick undoing his belt and pants. She could have seen him, stripping in the dark, but she didn't look. She wanted to give him privacy, even if he was about to join her in the bed.
Brick kept his white t-shirt on. He didn't want to be completely naked in bed with her. Okay. That was a straight lie. But given the circumstances.. he was trying to be respectful.
Now that that debacle was out of the way, Brick got into bed with Blossom. Trying to ignore the sweet aroma of her shampoo, or was it lotion? that was wafting over to his side of the bed. She always smelled so.. enticing.
He had been trying as hard as he could to play it off cool. But he was too nervous to even roll over, and now that he had thought about rolling over, he couldn't get it out of his mind. Thankfully Blossom rolled over and he took the opportunity to do the same. Now they were facing each other, but neither were tuned into their night vision, so it was pitch black.
"Brick?"
He had always hated his name, but not when it left her lips. The way she said it was so sweet, she made it sound more beautiful than it really was.
"Yeah Blossom?" He swallowed hard, and the room was so deadly quiet, he was sure that she heard it.
"Thanks for letting me sleep with you."
He smirked in the dark, "That's.. a hell of a sentence."
She laughed. "You know, for being a "villain" or a criminal or whatever… you're not that bad of a guy."
Why was his chest pounding?
"I don't know about that. I've done a lot of bad things." He chuckled, trying to keep the mood light even though he meant what he said.
"Everyone does bad things. That doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad person."
He didn't really know how to respond, he didn't know if he even should, but she spoke again before he came up with a response.
"It's really quiet in here, huh?" She asked, in a low voice.
"Not with you in here." He rolled his eyes playfully, of course she didn't see him.
"Oh, sorry." She giggled nervously, knowing he was just teasing.
He only meant it as a joke, but when she stayed silent he still regretted it. He liked the sound of her voice. "Silence is overrated anyway."
He heard her smile and he smiled too.
"I'm surprised the fan isn't on. You seem like the type of guy that would always sleep with one."
"Why because I'm so hot?" He could hardly get it out without cracking up.
There was a few moments of silence.
"Yeah actually. You are really hot." She absolutely meant it in a flirty way, but was happy to have an out just in case. "You know, fire powers and all."
"You're really hot too."
Blossom laid next to him, blushing against her pillow. "I don't have fire powers.."
"I know." He said smugly.
She bit back her smile, trying hard not to look stupid, in case he was using his night vision.
"You seem like the type of girl that would like the noise from a fan."
"I think I might be." She told him.
"I usually do have the fan on. But I don't want you to get cold." He admitted. "You know, ice powers and all."
God, her heart. "I don't think I could get cold with you around."
"Oh?"
"You're radiating heat." She explained, "You're like a heater."
Without another word, she stood up and stretched to reach the ceiling fan. Brick put his hand on her leg instinctively, to help her keep her balance. Blossom smiled, as a shockwave of excitement ran through her entire body and Brick, realizing that he had touched her bare skin, without warning, was mortified. The last thing he wanted to do was make her feel uncomfortable.
After she pulled the cord, turning the fan on and filling the room with cool air, Blossom laid back down. This time she was noticeably closer to Brick.
End Day 10 (:
