A/N: Hello everyone! Another week has passed meaning it is time for another chapter. Once again I apologise for an spelling mistakes or grammatical errors that may have slipped through the net. I will try to knock them out once I've woken up properly. I hope you all enjoy the chapter!
Kari and Donna had both followed Metella when Quintus had taken his sister to her room and set her down on the bed. He was still angry, Kari could see that straight away by the looks that he kept giving his mother. But it wasn't really her fault, Metella had no idea what was in those vapours, she had no idea what impact it was having on her daughter.
"She didn't mean to be rude." The woman said, sitting down on the edge of the bed with Evelina with a cloth and some bowls of something. "She's ever such a good girl. But when the gods speak through her…"
Kari and Donna both stood there and watched as Metella began to unwrap the golden cloth that was wrapped around her daughters arm. They both noticed it, and Kari knew what it was straight away, she knew what was really going on in Pompeii. "What's wrong with her arm?" The red head ended up asking, seeing the grey skin of the young woman.
"An irritation of the skin. She never complains, bless her. We bathe it in olive oil every night."
"What is it?" Donna asked, even more horrified as she saw more of it.
But then the mother remembered something that her daughter had said. "Evelina said you'd both come from far away. Please, have you ever seen anything like it?"
Kari took a tight hold of Donna's hand and tugged her forward a little, knowing what they were about to discover. When they reached her, Donna gently run the tips of her fingers down the woman's arm. "It's stone." She didn't even sound sure of what she was saying and looked at Kari for help.
They swapped places, Kari now standing right beside the bed so that she could examine the woman's arm. As she run her hand along it, she was surprised at how smooth it was. She had expected it to be a little rough, but it really wasn't, but it was cold. "You're right, it's stone." She knew there was nothing that she could do about it, there was no miracle cure. "I'm going to go and make sure he is keeping out of trouble."
"Ask him about it, ask if he has seen anything like that before." Donna told her, hoping that there was something that they could do. All Kari could do was nod at her before leaving the small side room where Evelina was resting and heading back to the main part of the villa.
"Who thought of that?" She heard the Doctor asked as she got closer to where he was with Caecilius. Kari was actually relieved to hear his voice, she was starting to get really nervous in Pompeii.
"The soothsayers. After the great earthquake seventeen years ago." Caecilius told the Doctor, just as Kari stepped into the room. The Doctor looked up at her and gave her a small smile as she walked over to him. "An awful lot of damage, but we rebuilt."
The Doctor looked up from the vent that he was inspecting as Kari sat down on the edge beside him. "Didn't you think of moving away? Oh, no, then again, San Francisco." He was talking more to himself than anyone else.
"That's a restaurant in Naples, isn't it?" Caecilius had no idea what the Doctor was talking about, he had no idea that San Francisco was a place in another country.
"Everything all right?" The Doctor suddenly said to Kari, surprising her a little. She hadn't expected him to start talking to her, she knew he was thinking about other things, but he had.
"Uh, yeah, but… Evelina, her arm…" Kari didn't really know how to tell him that the young woman was turning into stone.
In the end she didn't have to, as the Doctor began talking again, only the time to Caecilius after he heard a very loud grumbling and growling type of noise coming from the hypocaust he had his head down. "What's that noise?"
Kari watched as Caecilius shifted a little, he was definitely showing all the signs that e was nervous about something. "Don't know. Happens all the time." He told the Doctor before glancing at Kari. "They say the gods of the Underworld are stirring."
But something was still bothering the Doctor, and he wrapped an arm around Kari as he turned to face Caecilius. "But after the earthquakes, let me guess, is that when the soothsayers started making sense?"
"Oh, yes, very much so. I mean, they'd always been, shall we say, imprecise." The man explained to them, the Doctor wearing his thinking face and Kari just trying not to give anything away. "But then the soothsayers, the augurs, the haruspex, all of them, they saw the truth again and again. It's quite amazing. They can predict crops and rainfall with absolute precision."
The Doctor knew it was time to ask the one big question that was burning not only in his mind, but in Donna's as well. "Have they said anything about tomorrow?" He quickly glanced over at Kari, and for the first time since that had arrived in Pompeii, he noticed the way that her eyes couldn't quite meet his.
"No. Why, should they?" Caecilius asked, starting to sound a little panicked. "Why do you ask?"
Once again the Doctor glanced at Kari, and this time she deliberately looked away from him. "No, no, no reason, just asking." He told the man, before shoving his head back down the vent, taking a look, and bring it back up again. "But the soothsayers, they all consume the vapours?"
"That's how they see." Caecilius told the Doctor, while Kari tried to think of some way to tell him about Evelina and her arm. Something was telling her that he was suspicious of how much she knew, so she really had to tell him something.
The Doctor simply put his glasses on and reached into the vent with his hand. "Ipso facto…"
"In fact…" Kari muttered, knowing that was basically what the Doctor was saying in actual Latin, meaning that Caecilius couldn't understand him.
The Doctor suddenly reappeared with a pile of grey dust in his hand. "They're all consuming this." He let some of it fall through his fingers so that Kari and Caecilius could see it as well.
"Dust?" The man questioned, wondering what it was that the Doctor was trying to tell him.
"Tiny particles of rock." He told them both, before actually tasting some of the dust in his hands. Kari rolled her eyes at him, knowing that he had a habit of putting things in his mouth. "They're breathing in Vesuvius." The Doctor concluded, finally managing to catch Kari's gaze and hold it.
He rose from where he was sitting, taking Kari with him, and headed over to a quiet corner of the villa. The Doctor just stood there and looked at her, waiting for her to say something. "Why are you looking at me like that?" She finally asked him, trying to keep calm, to keep everything under control.
The Doctor folded his arms across his chest and rested against the wall with his shoulder. "What's going on?"
"What do you mean?"
"I know you, Kari, and I know when you're hiding something." The Doctor told her, knowing that there was something she wasn't telling him. "So, what's going on?"
Kari let out a sigh as she looked at him. "I was trying to tell you something earlier, but you totally ignored me. It's Evelina, her arm is turning to stone. She's been inhaling the vapours, which contain the dust, the stone, and now she is turning into stone."
The Doctor frowned at her. "And how do you know that? You know what's going on, don't you?" Kari really didn't like the tone that he was using with her, it was more accusing than anything else.
"I know because I've seen her arm, and so has Donna. Her mother thought it was just a skin irritation, they bathe it in olive oil each night, but it doesn't help, because her arm is turning to stone." Kari knew that she had to try and throw him of the scent, she didn't want him to know that knew exactly what was going on, and what was going to happen. She wished that she didn't know, and she was determined to keep everything to herself.
The look that Kari was now giving the Doctor actually made him flinch a little. It was plain to see that she was far from impressed with the way he was accusing her of knowing what was happening. "I'm sorry, I just thought…"
"You just thought that I knew everything that was going on. Doctor, you know there are times when I don't know everything." Kari told him, hoping that he would understand, believe her, and just drop the subject.
He nodded his head at her. "Yes, but I also know that there are times when you know exactly what is going on but keep it to yourself." The Doctor reminded her, taking a step forward and gently resting his hands on the top of her arms. "So, is this one of those times?"
"No." Kari told him, keeping it together pretty well. "I don't know what is going on, and even if I did, I doubt I would share it." Once again the Doctor frowned at her, wondering why she would say something like that. "You don't seem to have any faith in me at the moment, why is that?" She was not happy with the way things were going, with the way he was accusing her of keeping things from him. He wasn't usually like that, and it made her wonder why he was suddenly like that.
The Doctor's eyes drifted from Kari a little, to nowhere in particular. "It's not like that, Kari. I'm just asking if you know what is going on. I know that there are times when you know but don't want to say anything, and that's okay." It wasn't that he didn't have any faith in her, it was because he was worried about her. She was being far too quiet for his liking, and that usually meant that something was wrong.
"Doctor, listen, right now there are more important things to be worrying about. Evelina is turning into stone. Some weird old man is making a circuit from marble, and this whole place is going to be smothered in lava in less than twenty four hours." Kari told him, being a little snappy. "Do you really think, given the circumstances, that this is the best time to be questioning me? If I knew something, I'd tell you." She knew she was lying to him, but she also knew that she was right. It wasn't the time to argue or start doubting each other, they had to figure out what was going on and get out of there.
"You're right, I'm sorry. I'm sorry Kari." He told her, his face softening as he tugged her towards him. She landed against his chest as he wrapped his arms around her tightly. "I'm sorry."
Kari knew that he really was sorry, and the guilt she was feeling for lying to him began to grow a little. "Well, since you're sorry, and so sexy when you wear those glasses, I'll forgive you." She whispered to him, knowing exactly what she was doing.
Straight away the Doctor blushed, having completely forgotten how often she would call him sexy. "What was that you once said? Oh, I remember, brainy is the new sexy."
Now it was Kari's turn to blush. "I have never, ever, said that." She ended up telling him in protest. There was no way that she had said that to him, she may have called him sexy and made a comment about how much she liked it when he wore his brainy specs, but she would never say that.
The Doctor just grinned at her and nodded his head a little. "Oh, right, of course. You have never, ever said that." He told her, leaning in a little closer so that his lips were almost touching her ear. "But you will."
Kari just blushed even more and lightly whacked him on the arm. "Oh, shut up. We've got work to do." She said, knowing that they needed to get back on track and stop wasting time. "Look, something isn't right here, we both know that, and I've got the strangest feeling that Lucius Petrus Dextrus has something to do with it all."
He frowned at her as he gazed into her eyes. "What makes you say that?"
"I don't know, there's just something about him I don't like, that I don't trust. You know what I'm like when I get my feelings, and he gives me a really bad feeling." Kari knew that she was still lying, and although she didn't like it, she knew that she had to. If she was to tell him that she knew what was going on, when the time came for a specific event, he would definitely not be happy. That was all Kari could think about, that one event that was to come that created Pompeii's history.
"Well then, maybe we should go and pay him a visit." The Doctor told her, smiling at her softly. He could tell that something was bothering her, something more than just what was going on, but she was right, they had other things to be worrying about.
Although Kari would have loved to run through the streets of Pompeii being chased by monsters, she knew that someone had to keep an eye on her super temp. "I… uh, I'd rather stay here." She told the Doctor nervously. "He creeps me out, and anyway, someone needs to stop Donna from saying something stupid."
The Doctor thought about it for a moment. "Well, I suppose that does make sense. You sure you're going to be all right here?" Kari just nodded her head at him, she had to be all right, there wasn't another option on the table really. "I best find out where this man lives then. Stay here, keep out of trouble, and behave."
"Hey, I always stay out of trouble." Kari protested. "It's everyone else that always gets me into trouble." That was partially true, most of the time it was someone else getting into trouble, but there were the rare moments when Kari did bring on the trouble herself.
He chuckled at her a little before reaching down and lightly kissing her forehead. "Of course, it's never you, is it? Just keep Donna out of trouble, make sure she doesn't say anything stupid."
"I'll try my best, but that woman has a mind of her own and a rather big mouth at times. I think I should be telling you to stay out of trouble." She knew he was going to get into trouble, but she knew it wasn't completely his fault. "Now, go and get all of this sorted already, I want to go and have very long bath."
"You always want a bath. Why exactly is that?" He had noticed a pattern in that, in the way she would arrive and then mention that she wanted a bath or a nice cup of tea. "Or tea."
She let out a small sigh. "Because I'm usually pulled before I have a chance to even get to my room and change, that's why. All too often I find myself tired and hungry from running around the universe with you on very little sleep, just adrenalin. You know how much I love my sleep, Doctor." He was stilling, Kari was pretty sure that the Doctor was stalling for some reason. "Anyway, will you just go already? I'm going to go find Donna." She reached up and lightly pressed her lips against his before making a hastily exit to go and find her super temp.
It wasn't actually that hard to find her, she was still with Evelina in her room. "Well? What did he say? Has he seen something like it before?" Donna asked the moment she saw Kari.
"He's… looking into it. There is a theory, but he's had to pop out to pay a house visit to someone to try and piece the puzzle together." Kari told her, walking over to the bed to check on the young woman that was lying there. "How's she been?"
Donna walked over to the edge of the bed where Kari was now standing. "Apart from turning into stone, she's been fine, just sleeping the whole time." The moment she said that, the dark haired young woman began to stir.
Evelina was absolutely fine, she didn't look anywhere near as sick as she had when they had first seen her. She was so fine, in fact, that she was able to poke fun at the clothes that Kari and Donna were wearing, resulting in both of them getting changed and Kari quickly tossing their old clothes inside of the TARDIS when no one was looking.
"You're not supposed to laugh." Donna protested as she walked back into Evelina's room wearing a purple dress and shawl. "Thanks for that. What do you think? The Goddess Venus." She joked, throwing the end of the shawl over her shoulder and posing a little.
Evelina laughed while Kari just stood there feeling awkward. Donna had forced her into an outfit that was the same colour blue as the TARDIS, but it really wasn't her kind of thing. Kari had strongly told herself that she would only wear dressed on special occasions, date nights, things like that, it was certainly not one of those times. Plus, it was ridiculously long, which made her worried about how much she was going to trip over the bottom of it.
"Oh, that's sacrilege." Evelina commented, just as Donna sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Nice to see you laugh." The moment she was sitting, she looked over to Kari. "Come on then, Kari, give us a twirl." The red head was eager to get her to join in, to get her to relax and just have some fun, because she knew that there was something bothering her.
With a heavy sigh, Kari pushed herself away from the wall and turned around with very little enthusiasm. "There, twirled." She said, before going back to leaning against the wall. The golden embroidery across the top part of the dress really made her feel uncomfortable. It was right around her ribcage, and it was not something that she found comfortable, in fact, she would much rather be wearing a corset than that dress.
"Blue suits you." Evelina told her, causing her to look up at her. "But you're uncomfortable."
Kari fidgeted a little. "Yeah, just a bit. I don't know, not the kind of thing I usually wear." She wanted to tug at it, to pull it about and try to get more comfortable in it, but she knew it was pointless. She was starting to regret letting Donna talk her into changing her clothes in the first place.
"Anyway, what do you do in old Pompeii, then, girls your age?" Donna asked, taking the attention away from Kari. Even she could see that she was struggling to contain her hatred for the dress and the way that it fitted her. The moment Kari had put it on, she had complained to Donna that she must have been getting fat because of how tight it felt. "You got mates? Do you go hanging about round the shops? TK Maximus?"
There was a sad look on Evelina's face. "I am promised to the sisterhood for the rest of my life." It was clear that she wasn't entirely happy with the comment, and both Kari and Donna didn't blame her.
"Do you get any choice in that?" Donna knew what it was like to not be able to control your own life, she had enough of it from her mother back home. Kari knew that her red headed super temp loved her mother, but she just resented her for some of the things she said, the way she treated her at times.
"It's not my decision. The sisters chose for me. I have the gift of sight." Evelina told them, before her gaze fixed upon Kari. "Your gift is different, it is stronger than even the Reverend Mother."
Kari did not like what Evelina was saying one bit. "Yes, my gift is different, because for me it is not a gift, but a curse. I see the most terrible things, and I don't want to see them. I don't want to know what is to come, I want to live happy in the moment, not in fear of the future." That was how she really felt now, although she done well to cover it up most of the time in front of the Doctor.
"But you don't just see the future, you see the past as well." Now Evelina was really starting to freak Kari out again. She knew the woman had managed to see who she really was, to a certain extent, but she had thought that it when she woke up it would all be over. "I can only see what is to come."
"Then what can you see happening tomorrow?" Donna asked, getting a very strong and scary glare from Kari. But she ignored her, and kept her attention focused on Evelina.
The young woman looked at Donna in confusion. "Is tomorrow special?"
That was where Kari quickly jumped in. "Nope, not at all. Tomorrow is just another day, the same as any other." She said, really wanting Donna to keep her mouth shut and not say anything else. She really did not want to be kidnapped by the Sisterhood and tied to an altar. 'Nothing special about it at all."
But Donna just ignored Kari completely. "You tell me. What do you see?"
Evelina closed her eyes and focused. "The sun will rise, the sun will set. Nothing special at all, just like the Angel said." Kari gave Evelina a soft smile, not actually bothered by the fact that the woman had called her Angel.
"Look, don't tell the Doctor I said anything, because he'll kill me, but I've got a prophecy too."
"Donna, stop it." Kari growled while Evelina clover her eyes with her hands, revealing the drawn on eyes that were on the back of them. "Don't you dare, it isn't just the Doctor that you need to be scared of."
Her words had no impact, as Donna carried on speaking. "Evelina, I'm sorry, but you've got to hear me out. Evelina, can you hear me? Listen."
"There is only one prophecy." The young woman called, not wanting to listen to Donna, not caring for her prophecy.
Kari grabbed Donna by the arm, grabbing her attention. "You need to stop this, right now, Donna Noble. If you say another word I swear the Doctor and I will just leave you here. Do you understand me?" She was starting to get angry, because she knew that it was Donna's words that were about to make things a whole lot worse. She wanted to avoid all of that, no one needed to be kidnapped for the Doctor to work out what was really going on.
The red head looked at her, not the slightest bit afraid of her, and yanked her arm free. "But everything I'm about to say to you is true, I swear. Just listen to me. Tomorrow, that mountain is going to explode. Evelina, please listen." It was clear from her tone that she was desperate, and she would do anything to get her to listen to what she was saying. "The air is going to fill with ash and rocks, tons and tons of it, and this whole town is going to get burned."
"That's not true." Evelina refused to listen to her, to believe what Donna was telling her, but Kari knew that it was too late. What Donna had said had been heard by others, and that was going to cause more problems.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, but everyone's going to die. Even if you don't believe me, just tell your family to get out of town. Just for one day, just for tomorrow, but you've got to get out. You've got to leave Pompeii." Kari knew there was nothing that should could do now, except wait for the Sisterhood to come and snatch Donna.
"This is false prophecy." Evelina cried, removing her hands from her eyes. There was a look of disbelieve on her face as she looked and Donna, before she quickly left the room, leaving Kari and Donna standing there.
As soon as they were alone, Kari snapped. "What the hell were you thinking, Donna? That poor girl has suffered enough and you just have to go and tell her all of that." It was very easy to see that she was far from happy with her friend.
It seemed the Kari wasn't the only one that was not happy. "I was thinking that maybe I could get her and her family to leave rather than die when that volcano blows tomorrow." Donna spat at her. "Seriously, Kari, how can you just stand there and watch all of this happen? The whole town is going to burn, every single one of them will die."
"Twenty thousand." Kari whispered, earning herself a strange look from Donna. "Twenty thousand people, that's how many people are going to die tomorrow, Donna. Do you really think I like all of this? Do you think I like any of it? I know what is going to happen, I just haven't told the Doctor that."
That seemed to do the trick, and Donna's mouth decided to hang open. "What? You mean… you… you know everything? You knew that man was going to sell the TARDIS, and that we were going to be running around looking for it?" Kari just nodded at her, an unreadable expression on her face. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"What good would that do? Would it stop you from being so determined to save everyone from Vesuvius? Would it stop that mountain from blowing? Would it stop all of these people from dying?" All Donna could do was look at her as she slowly shook her head. "Exactly. What I know changes nothing. And you have to promise me that you will not tell the Doctor anything."
Donna was still shocked when she nodded at head at Kari. "Yeah, yeah, of course." She ended up muttering. "So, what do we do now?"
Kari let out a rather long sigh as she sat on the edge of Evelina's bed. "We wait for the Doctor to get back from investigating something. Unfortunately, Vesuvius isn't our only problem at the moment."
The pair of them waited in silence. Kari was annoyed at herself for telling Donna that she knew what was going on, and she was annoyed with Donna for telling Evelina what she had. She had so badly wanted to stop that, to make sure that Donna wasn't snatched away from the Doctor so that he had to waste time finding her, but she had failed that as far as she was concerned.
It was only when Kari had a bad feeling that they moved back to the main area of the villa, where Evelina was sitting. All of a sudden there was a rumble, different to what they had heard before. But it wasn't the only one, it was followed by another short rumble, and then another.
"What is it? What's that noise?" Metella asked, entering the room with Caecilius right beside her.
There was a worried look on his face as well as his wife's. "Doesn't sound like Vesuvius." It sounded like it was getting closer, and only Kari knew exactly what it was and what was about to happen next.
That was when the Doctor came charging into the villa, Quintus right behind him. "Caecilius? Call of you, get out." He shouted, rushing straight over to Kari and instantly grabbing a hold of her, as if trying to protect her.
"Doctor, what is it?" Donna managed to ask him, knowing that something was wrong, hearing that thumping and rumbling getting even louder.
He looked at Donna while holding onto Kari tightly. "I think we're being followed." Before anyone could ask him how or by what, the grill that was covering the hypocaust suddenly burst off, landing on the floor with a crash. "Just get out!" The Doctor ended up shouting, trying to usher Donna and Evelina out along with Kari.
They weren't listening to him. They were too busy gazing at the hypocaust and the fact that it was not only billowing with steam, but that it was crumbling apart right before their eyes. It looked as if something was trying to break it, to break through from underneath it. Everyone was watching it, including the Doctor, and that was when a huge beast finally broke through, it's head almost touching the ceiling.
"The Gods are with us." Evelina cried, looking at the creature in complete shock. She was staring at something that looked like stone, but burned with an orange glow.
"Water!" The Doctor ended up shouting, trying to get everyone to focus. "We need water. Quintus, all of you, get water!" Kari and Quintus were both quick to rush off, but the Doctor grabbed Kari's arm to stop her. He was not going to let her out of his sight. "Donna!" She came to her senses and ran after everyone else to gather water.
One of the servants had been praying to the supposed god who was with them, saying how blessed they were. What he did not anticipate was the god breathing fire at him, turning him into nothing but a pile of ash on the ground. Kari had to quickly look away, knowing that he was only the first to die.
The only one who was ready to face the beast was the Doctor. He left Kari with Evelina while he stepped closer to the rock like fire breathing monster. "Talk to me, that's all I want. Talk to me, just tell me who you are. Don't hurt these people."
Kari noticed Donna returning with a bucket and saw the red cloaks of the Sisterhood. As they took Donna, one of them stopped and just stared at Kari, before holding out a hand, beckoning for her to go with them. She didn't hesitate, she knew that Donna would be safer if she was there as well.
She went without a struggle, she let them guide her to their temple, while Donna tried to kick up a fuss. If someone hadn't kept their hand over her mouth, the red haired woman would have screamed down the whole of Pompeii before that volcano had time to erupt.
The Doctor hadn't even noticed she had gone, unlike Evelina who had watched them take Donna and then Kari simply follow them. He was too busy now explaining why the monster had suddenly frozen and then crumbled into pieces when Quintus had thrown a bucket of water over it. "Carapace of stone, help together by internal magma. Not too difficult to stop, but I reckon that's just the foot soldier." He explained, still oblivious to the fact that Kari and Donna had both gone.
"Doctor, or whatever your name is, you bring back luck on this house." Metella told him, clearly shaken and not impressed with anything that had happened, even the fact that the man seemed to understand everything that was going on.
He seemed a little put out by her comment, but tried not to let it get to him and changed the focus away from him. "I thought your son was brilliant." He told her, commenting on how brave Quintus had been. "Aren't you going to thank him?" Straight away Metella reached out for her son and hugged him tightly. "Still, if there are aliens at work in Pompeii, it's a good thing we stayed, eh, Kari?" He muttered to himself, thinking that Kari was there with him. "Kari?" He ended up calling, when she didn't answer him. He quickly spun around and noticed that she wasn't there, and neither was Donna. "Kari, Donna!"
While the Doctor was panicking back at the villa, Kari was being rushed into the temple. All she could do was watch as Donna was tied down to the altar. In the end, the sisters had to temporarily sedate the woman, she was causing too much of a fuss. Kari was actually surprised that they were able to do it, but she was no historian, she knew nothing about the chemicals and tricks that they used in that time.
Kari didn't even bother to struggle when someone tied rope around her wrists and shoved her against one of the columns. Then another of the women wrapped rope around her and the column, making sure that she had no way to escape. It appeared that they had some interest in her, just not an interest in killing her, like she knew they were planning to do to Donna.
"Doctor, I know you're panicking right now, but please don't. I'm safe, well safer than Donna is at the moment." She ended up calling to him while she waited for Donna to awaken from her forced slumber.
"Kari, where are you? Why did you leave, you should have stayed here." Yes, he was panicking, but there was a hint of relief in his voice at hearing form her.
"Temple of the Sibylline Sisterhood. They took Donna, I wasn't going to just stand there and not go with them. I'm tied to a column, she's tied to the altar." She told him, being as calm as she could. "They shall be sacrificing her if you don't get her quickly." Kari knew he would get there in time, she knew nothing was going to happen to her or to Donna.
"I'm on my way. Just stay calm, I'll be there as soon as I can." Kari already knew that he would come, that he would be there as quickly as he could. "I'll get you out, I promise."
She couldn't help but smile to herself a little. "I know you will. Just make sure it's before Donna is sacrificed for being the false prophet." She wasn't worried, there was absolutely no reason for Kari to be worried, but she was still a little scared. Kari was scared of what the Doctor would say if he found out that she had lied to him, that she really did know everything that was going to happen. He was already a little annoyed with her because of the necklace she was wearing, because she had tried to hide it from him. She didn't want to make things worse, and she was starting to wonder if lying to him had really been a good thing.
