Riju and Gustav sit by the fire, discussing their most thought-provoking queries, "Hey, Gustav, I was just wondering. Why didn't you stay in Goron City? It is your hometown, is it not?"
"I'm still trying to find my Uncle. Wherever he goes, I go. I wanna turn him to the side of good. If the rumors we heard were true, then he's already causing destruction across the seven seas. Besides, I don't ever wanna go back to that awful training camp, *shiver* that place gives me nightmares."
"I don't blame you there; nothing good can come from being worked to the bone like that."
"Also, I just like tagging along with you guys—no shame in hiding it."
"Aww, that's so sweet. Thank you, Gustav. We appreciate your presence just as much as you do."
"Well, since we're getting things off our chest. I'd like to pester you with a few inquiries myself."
"Fire away, I'm all ears."
"From what've I heard from Tobias, you use to be the chieftain of Gerudo Town. Whatever happened to that occupation, I doubt they'd let royalty wander out of the palace so easily."
"My subjects treat me as a Gerudo ambassador. I travel all around the world to make alliances with other nations. They currently have a makeshift chieftain operating Gerudo in my stead."
"Hmph, that's interesting. So I suppose Link is your newfound bodyguard then."
"You know it! It took quite a bit of convincing from both sides, but Gerudo and Hyrule relations are stronger than ever."
"That's good to hear; I would never want you and the princess to not be on good terms."
"Ha, you'd be surprised. You need all the power in the world to sit me next to that bothersome goose. And don't get me even started on Mipha. She's quite the handful herself."
"Um, who's Mipha?" Gustav questions.
"A Zora with a real bad temper. Just another one of my countless enemies."
"Enemies? I didn't know you such a force to be reckoned with, Riju."
"Yep, it's true; it seems I have awoken multiple foul beasts along my travels, each one more toxic than the last. I just want people to use the good that's deep down inside them. Not to waste that good on trivial matters or underutilize it when viewing the bigger picture. For the villains of Hyrule to change their evil, destructive ways. To have everyone strive for a brighter future. However, this goal of mine has proved harder than anticipated. Neither Abdul, Thomas, or Guster could be swayed to the side of good. I'm a failure, and my duty as an advocate for human life is undoubtedly flawed."
"There's no reason to be so hard on yourself, friend. Changing someone's pathological behavior isn't just going to happen overnight. Things like that take time. I'm sure if we're diligent about it, we could eventually convert Guster to our side."
"You really think so. You really think he'd put aside his long-standing hatred to come and join us."
Gustav holds the gear-shaped jewelry in his hands, "My Uncle taught me a very important lesson when I was young: Everyone has a role to play in life. Some people play the heroes, the brave and noble, always aiming to make the world a better place. Some people play the villains, the selfish and greedy, always attempting to wreak havoc on poor unsuspecting citizens. Some stay within the confines of their respected roles for their entire existence. But most, and I mean a very high percent, tend to ride the line between good and evil."
"So, what does all that mean."
"It means Uncle Gus is one of those individuals. The kind that rides both sides of the line. Sure, you could consider Guster a villain, but who's to say he can't be a hero too. I think my Uncle was right. I believe everyone to own the ability to ride the line."
"Wow, that's pretty thoughtful of you, Gustav. It seems you and your Uncle tend to share the same worldview. Turning villains into heroes must just require a lot of time and patience. And like your Uncle said, it's not for everybody. Some people are just stuck in their ways, and that's fine. I've come to accept that. But if I feel the slightest glimmer of hope, the slightest inclination that someone can change, you're sure as hell I'm gonna take that opportunity."
"That's the spirit! Don't let a few bad eggs get ya down. There's still plenty of people out there looking for growth."
"I know, but sometimes I wish everyone could be that way. Abdul and Thomas's journey to the dark side still haunts me to this day. And now Guster, ugh, I just pray that he's a hero deep down."
"Don't worry, I know Guster is more of a hero than a villain. I'd bet my life on that. Now let's get some sleep; we have a full day ahead of us tomorrow. You wouldn't wanna be half asleep during our excursion to Port Timblin now, would ya?"
"Is that my cue to leave."
"No, no, you can do whatever you want; I'm just going to go to bed myself. Hey, where's Link? I'm sure you two could enjoy some quality cuddling time together since you've both made up."
"He's practicing wielding a mighty sledgehammer in the late dusk. It's going to be his new weapon from now on since Guster took his sword and shield away."
"He should be careful. Those things aren't exactly the most durable of tools."
"I'm sure he knows. He is my boyfriend, after all. Like I would date someone who isn't knowledgeable about weapons."
"I'm glad you two finally made up; I was getting kinda worried there. And you came back stronger than ever, now in a full-fledged relationship."
"You don't have to tell me twice. I feel like the luckiest gal in the world."
Riju looks over to the dual lynel swords lodged in the ground, "Speaking of change, I don't know what it is, but..."
Riju then glances over to sweat-drenched Link, "I feel like he's changed too."
