"Caleith, who's that?" Riju queries.
"Oh, sorry, I uh, must be mistaken. You're clearly not her, but for some reason, you feel so... familiar," Quark reminisces.
"Ew, gross. You're old."
"No, no, you misunderstood me; I meant in a fatherly daughterly kind of way. Jeez, these kids."
"Have you heard anything about Captain Quark, Gustav?" Riju interrogates. "My search turned up fruitless."
"Uh, here he is, Riju, in all his drunken glory."
"Riju, was it? What can I do for you?" Quark utters, trying to maintain a calm and collected nature.
"We need you and your skills to embark on an adventure like no other. Sailing across the border and eventually coming upon a misjudged yet not impervious to change villain, Guster."
"Oh, I'd be happy to oblige. I love helping strangers out, especially the courageous kind."
"Yeah, like that's true. You told me a second ago I was an idiot with a death wish."
"What was that, you big lumpy bastard."
"Nothing, it was nothing," Gustav laughs nervously.
"Come along, let me show you to my ship."
Gustav whispers over to you, "At least he's not drunk anymore."
"Who said I was drunk in the first place," Quark accuses, raising his hook at Gustav.
As you leave the pub, a rather scummy individual approaches the titular damsel, Riju. "Hey, babe, what's up. You look like the kind of girl in need of a drink. How about I get one for you."
You overhear their conversation and turn around to confront the source of the commotion. You stare blankly at the ground for a couple of seconds and then walk away from the scene. You let the words roll off your chest, letting his foolish flirting attempts with Riju not get to you.
Riju smiles after watching your awe-inspiring performance, "Sorry, I have a spectacular boyfriend who will do anything in the world for me. Gosh, I'm so lucky."
Riju follows her response by playfully skipping out of the brewery.
Captain Quark leads the gang along through a plethora of alleyways and conjoined junctions. Two towering mercenaries appear out of the shadows, quick to suppress the group's movement, "Hmph, so these are the fabled heroes Guster informed us about. I'm excited to reap the bounty. They should be no challenge for the bolo brothers, isn't that right, bro."
"You know it! We're going to punch these chumps into next Tuesday."
"Look, we don't want any trouble. In fact, we're hoping to have a civil discussion with Guster," Riju urges.
"NOW!"
The first brother whips out a double ax, while the second comes equipped with an iron sledgehammer. You immediately clash with the duo, sparks flying and tension steadily rising.
You prepare your sledgehammer for a deadly assault. Gustav cowers off in the background. Riju and Tobias dance around the brothers, trying to distract them from their hero thwarting duties. You use Stasis on a nearby barrel and spin around as fast as possible with the hammer in hand, knocking into the hefty object. After the Stasis wears off, the charged item is released. Your sledgehammer breaks upon impact into a cluster of light blue particles, vanishing entirely from your hands. The barrel goes flying towards one of the brothers, chasing him down the barren road.
"Retreat! Runaway! Let's get our ass's outta here, bro!" One of the bolo brothers proclaims.
"No, stay and fight! Argh, I'm too late; he's already gone."
"Well, it looks like it's one vs. five, now. Don't worry; I can do this; I can handle this all by myself," The other bolo brother reassures.
You pick up a discarded pot lid off the ground for protection. The ruthless bolo warrior comes at you with a flurry of vengeful slashes—his double ax making for the perfect distancing weapon. Riju loses her defensive bow in the mad blitz.
You grab Riju's longbow and rest the wooden shield on the golden string. You pull back and release the circular disk. The emblazoned shield bounces off the walls, hitting the ax-swinging fiend in the back of the head. He stumbles to the ground and follows in his brother's footsteps by quickly running away.
"That'll teach them, (sigh) but I was hoping to let them see the error of their ways."
"They're mercenaries, Riju, trained killers with no sympathy for others. They're only concerned with finishing their job," Tobias notifies.
"I guess, but that doesn't make me any less unhappy."
"Who is this Guster they speak of? Is he another person I've accidentally made enemies with through my countless drunken outbursts?"
"No, he's our enemy. Actually, he's my Uncle. But every day, I feel we grow farther and farther apart."
"Well, if there's one thing I know about enemies. It's that I have a lot of them. Let's just say I'm not the most likable person around the block," Quark confesses.
"Let's hope that doesn't come to bite us in the butt later. We don't want a mutiny on our hands."
"Speaking of rampant violence, we've arrived at the docks. And there she is, ladies and gentlemen, the queen of the harbor—the SS Rosemary."
"Wow, she's beautiful; where did you find such a fine specimen," Riju praises.
"She's an old trading ship that I stole off some unfortunate soul. Xebecs, I think they're called."
"So it's not really yours. Typical Captain Quark, not a generous bone in your body, huh," Riju contends.
"Hey, you're the one so adamant about converting villains into heroes, so stop getting on my case. Anyways, let's get moving. I'm a busy man, and I don't have a lot of time to waste."
"Yeah, right. This is probably the first job you have been offered in a while. Why are you helping us, anyway? I'm not providing any monetary compensation for this reckless tour."
"You just remind me of someone, that's all."
"And that's enough for you to put your life at stake."
"I mean, I got nothing else going on, and I wanna make some more positive memories out on the water. I can't always look at the high seas as a negative, so why the hell not. My crew isn't gonna be too happy when they hear the news, but they'll eventually warm up to it, especially if they get to plunder some booty."
"Okay, I guess that's a valid reason. Regardless, I think it's time for us to set sail—you ready, boys?"
"More than I'll ever be," Tobias exclaims.
"Uh, how about we take a rest first," Gustav implores.
You pick up a rusty fishing harpoon carrying a roasted porgy. After quickly devouring the meal and regaining your hearts, you contemplate the various uses you could get out of such a weapon.
"Oh, Gustav, quit your crying. We got no time for rest; we have a villain to save, remember," Riju says, striving to push Gustav onto the lavishly decorated ship. After failing to move him an inch, Riju snatches Gustav's gear-shaped pendant and runs off towards the boat.
"Hey, Riju, give that back."
"You two need to behave."
"Ugh, here we go again."
Captain Quark watches as the four energetic individuals all make haste onto the ruby-encrusted vessel.
"I'm glad you're back, Caleith..."
"Or Riju was it."
"..."
"Whatever you wanna go by is fine with me."
