Just inches from the end, her conscience overwhelmed her.
She pulled up from her dive and hovered inches from the water.
She just couldn't do it.
I cannot.
They wouldn't have wanted her to.
They would not understand.
But her pain was overwhelming still.
I want to die.
She hovered inches from the water and looked at her reflection.
She stared hard into her eyes, livid pools of green turned dull.
No matter how long she stared, she could not see life in them.
I am dead.
She thought.
Dead inside.
The happiness I felt was short-lived.
And so were my friends.
She lay down above the water and floated in the air.
The sky was lit with stars; they looked so peaceful and lively.
They did not match her mood.
And she hated them for that.
Love, it has left me.
Life, mine is over.
