Harry and Charm were in the library. Charm was reading a book about the Nazi cadre for her upcoming essay and Harry was just loitering around. He was making a lot of noise too, with his squeaky school boots (hand-me-downs, of course) and constant shuffling.
Charm finally lost her patience.
"Harry," she said in a firm voice, "stop being so noisy."
There was a tremble in her voice. Harry shook his head in annoyance.
"Don't read about those German brats, they're not worth our time."
"Silence, Potter!" Shrieked Charm. "I deserve good grades."
Harry shirked ceasing his insistent protest.
"STOP!" Yelled Charm. Several shushes followed. Harry flinched.
"You're so mean," Harry said meekly. "I wanted to show you something."
"What?" Charm asked, regaining her composure. She hoped it wasn't what she thought it was.
Harry dropped his voice to a whisper.
"I flew."
Charm rolled her eyes.
"You're too heavy for that." Charm said. "What are you, 61 pounds?"
Harry's eyes fell.
"See, I told you. I don't know how it happened. I just FLEW!"
Charm turned her head toward her book.
"Shut up, Harry," she said abruptly. "And try not to be a nuisance."
Harry felt sad and annoyed. Why would he ever lie? And why would his sister not believe him? Meanie.
Meanwhile, Charm was brimming with jealousy. Harry hadn't practised at all and had flown. She wanted to know more about it but concentrated on the book in her hands.
"Don't you want to know how I flew?" Harry whispered to her.
"I DON'T Harry, just let me study in peace!" She looked ready to fultimate. This earned her another shush.
"I'm going!" She announced to him in a fierce whisper and stomped away, leaving Harry baffled.
She walked outside the library in anger and then stopped. Taking a deep breath, she regained her composure and started walking up the stairs, to the terrace.
"I can fly too. He's not the only one. Besides, I've practised more than him, so I can obviously do it better than him.
She reached the end of the fleet and stared at the blue sky.
"Ah," she said in mock wonder. "I feel so aviothic that-"
Imeadietly, without thinking, she jumped from the building.
Fear enveloped her till she realized what would happen. She screamed.
She nearly hit the ground when something…strange, happened.
She began to float. Lightly, of course, but float. And then she landed on a heap of leaves.
"I-" she could not digest this information. "I floated. Not flew, but floated, like a dandelion."
She sat up, but till then, Ms Rosegold, her science teacher arrived.
"Are you okay, Charmaine?" She asked with concern.
"Fine, ma'am. Just fell off the 2nd-floor balcony."
Of course, she had fallen from the terrace but Ms Rosegold didn't need to know that she's survived that fall without any injuries.
"You don't look like you've been hurt."
"Wonders never cease, Miss."
"Oh, well, thankfully there was a pile of leaves here. Otherwise, god knew what would have happened-"
"CHARM?" Yelled a familiar voice. Charmaine sighed in annoyance.
"ARE YOU ALRIGHT?"
"Stop, Harry, don't scream. I'm quite alright." She motioned the pile of leaves. "Glad I'm not dead."
Harry's eyes went dark.
"I just came to see if you were okay," he said pitifully. "Not to get snubbed like before."
"I'm sorry, Harry. My temper isn't the same." She apologized genuinely, now feeling a little more comforted that she could float in the air too.
Harry gave her a small smile.
"Please don't do it again," he said, scared. He dropped his voice to a whisper. "You flew too, I saw. We're both special."
"Harry," Charm said. "It was just an illusion. The- the air! It was thick."
Harry didn't look convinced yet planted a tender kiss on his sister's cheek.
"Please be careful." He said lovingly. She smiled at him and nodded.
Deprived of his parents, Harry depended on Charm a lot. She was the older one. And she loved him a lot.
She hated it whenever Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon hurt him. She avoided Harry being hurt by Dudley, but only after she had turned 7 and the magical powers had bestowed themselves upon her.
Deep in thought, she closed her eyes and didn't notice that she had been transported back home.
Author's Note: I do realize that this chapter was exceptionally short, please excuse me for that. I have something big coming up in the next chapter and I wanted it to be a separate chapter. I hoped you liked this chapter, please review it, it makes my day and I am always open to constructive criticism. Happy reading!
