Sylvix Week 2021. Day 2. Wish.
When they are children, Sylvain tells Felix that wishing upon a shooting star will make the wish come true.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
Day 2. If you wish upon a star
"Hey Felix, did you see that shooting star?" eight-year-old Sylvain points towards the sky through the window, almost pressing his nose against the glass.
It's a cold winter evening in Faerghus, and the boys are both at Felix' house. His father has managed to convince Sylvain's father that the two of them spending time together is a good thing, so Sylvain is staying here for a whole two weeks!
"I saw it," an even younger Felix replies. He's right next to Sylvain where they're both sitting on the back of a couch, looking out at the night sky, also with his nose pressed to the glass.
"Now you have to make a wish," Sylvain informs him, turning his head to look at the younger boy.
"Huh?" Felix makes a questioning noise, tilting his head in confusion as he looks at Sylvain.
"When you see a shooting star, you make a wish, and then that wish will come true!" Sylvain explains. "That's what my mom told me."
"Oh, okay." Felix nods and looks back out the window. He loos the perfect picture of concentration, as he tries to figure out the best thing to wish for. "Then, I wish... I wish that, when we grow up, we can always be together. So we don't have to only meet sometimes when our dads agree to it."
"That's a good wish!" Sylvain says with a laugh. "I hope we can always be together, too." He looks out the window with a smile, making his own wish.
"Come on, let's go!" he says, patting Felix on the arm, before jumping down. "I think we can still get some snacks from the kitchen if we hurry!" Waiting just long enough to make sure Felix gets down safely, he sets off to the kitchens.
"Hey, Sylvain?" Felix asks as he runs after him. "What did you wish for?"
Sylvain pauses just long enough for Felix to catch up, before smiling at him and ruffling his hair.
"It's a secret!"
***Several years later***
"Hey, Felix?" Sylvain asks, turning his head slightly to look at Felix. He's lounging on a couch under a large window, in front of a warm fireplace, looking out at the night sky, feet laying across Felix' lap.
"Yes?" Felix replies, looking up from the book he's been reading. "What is it?"
"Remember when we were kids, and I told you wishing on a shooting star will make your wish come true?" He looks up and out the window just in time to see another shooting star make its way across the sky.
"Yes..." Felix answers after a few moments, brow furrowed, clearly wondering what Sylvain is bringing it up now for.
"And do you remember that wish you made?" Sylvain continues, motioning for Felix to put his book down, which he does eventually do.
"It was a childish wish," Felix says, crossing his arms with a slight blush on his cheeks.
"It was sweet," Sylvain counters, taking Felix' hand and pulling the man to lie down on top of him. "You wanted us to always be together when we grow up." He smiles at his partner and gives him a quick kiss. "And it even came true, didn't it?"
He lifts their joined hands to look at the matching rings on their fingers. They gleam steadily in the light from the fire. The wish did indeed come true.
"Hmmm," Felix hums, letting his head fall on Sylvain's chest. "I suppose it did."
For several minutes, they just lay together on the couch, taking in the warmth of the fire, as well as each other.
"You never told me what you wished for," Felix says suddenly, lifting his head to look Sylvain in the eyes.
"Mmmm," it's Sylvain's time to hum, as he twirls a lock of Felix' hair around his fingers. "I just wished the snacks in the kitchen would have chocolate chips and not raisins in them."
"Idiot."
"But your idiot, right?."
"Of course."
