One change can cause a huge impact and change of plans for everyone involved.
"Hold on," Midoriya suddenly realized as All Might stop in his tracks and turned to see his successor. After the hero explained about his friendship with Sir Nighteye and how it tore apart due to his future death. At this moment, All Might made a promise not to die.
After the promise, Midoriya realized something that could happen.
"Have Nighteye use his foresight on you again," he aggressively suggested, "make up with him and see if the future has already changed."
All Might wasn't sure about the suggestion, "uh… isn't that seem a little…"
"It's a matter of life and death," Midoriya interrupted, "I'll try to bargain with him."
"Wait young Midoriya, think about how Nighteye must about all of this!"
Fortunately, for young Midoriya, the future had already changed.
But not in the way he expects it to be.
He can't believe young Midoriya got him into this.
The former symbol of peace was shaken the entire time, from walking towards the agency, entering the building, going upstairs and meeting a hero who took him to the main office, he wasn't prepared.
He thought about leaving the building, thought about backing out, but he was in too deep with what his student managed to arrange.
A meeting with an old friend.
The second he opens the door, he already saw the still disappointed face of Sir Nighteye, surrounded by special editions of All Might posters, he knew he was a huge fan of his work, but even then, he knows Nighteye wouldn't want to see him.
"Hey." Yagi greeted, "it's… been a while…"
Nighteye remains silent, just staring at the old hero.
He wasn't sure if saying anything would be the right call or a better way to greet him, he just have to come in.
He sat down on a chair.
Only to meet a seeming eternity of the two men staring at each other.
All Might continues to shake, he knows what he has to do, if he managed to do it, then he'll find out if the future has changed, but he has to first convince him, one wrong word and everything will fall apart.
Time passes and the pressure kept going.
If he keeps it up, it would make the appointment very pointless. He has to speak up.
"So…" All Might broke the silence. But Nighteye interrupted.
"I know why you're here."
That struck Yagi a little, "did young Midoriya… tell you?"
"The only thing that kid did was convince me to have this meeting," Nighteye said, "I would certainly reject it."
"So… why didn't you?" Yagi asked a stupid question, already regretting it.
But surprisingly, Nighteye answers, "for the past few weeks, I have seen his progress, I was surprised by how motivated, strategic and thoughtful he was. I can now see why Togata was interested in him,"
Nighteye grabs a hot drink, sipping it while the retired hero was curious.
"You think I made the right call?"
Nighteye places the drink down.
"No," he answered coldly, "but, he has the potential to be a good hero, with enough training, he could be strong enough to use his full potential."
"Well, I tried to help him to the best of my abilities."
"While I don't agree with your judgement, I can see you're trying your best to protect those who are important, I was worried about your legacy and your life, I overlooked that fact."
"It wasn't easy" All Might admitted, "and I didn't mean to abandon you, but I can't just give up, a hero never meant to give up."
"And because of that… I had to watch you die."
Another moment of silence came, Yagi thought about his next words wisely, he was in a very critical moment that could go wrong at any moment. The mention got him thinking about Young Midoriya and what he said about the future, something that stuck to him since he found out about the arrangement.
"Maybe… maybe the future changed."
"Huh?" Nighteye perked up.
"It's almost time for my death right? Maybe if you use your quirk on me, the future would be much clearer, maybe I managed to survive my death, maybe I managed to overcome my death. Maybe…"
"All Might…" the man had a disappointing look, "you know the future can't be changed, and I don't want to live through that horrible incident again."
"But perhaps time has changed, we could at least try." All Might sighs, feeling this whole thing was falling apart, "and if it stays the same, then I'll leave, you'll never see my face again."
"Don't think I can." Nighteye smile slightly before dropping in a serious look, looking around the All Might merchandise he collected. One look at the exclusive poster before sighing, "since the incident, I tried to restrain my quirk usage, limit myself to one person a day for a whole day, back out if they're about to die." He closed his eyes, remembering his problem, something he has a hard time facing or figuring a way to find a solution.
Eyes open and seeing All Might, he thought about the offer and made his choice.
"I'll only do it once because it could help figure out who kills you, how it happens and more importantly when it happens."
He stands up, walking around his desk, while the retired hero kept his eyes looking at the moving Nighteye, his head turning as he walks till he was right in front of him.
"Like old times," Yagi made a weak smile before his shoulder was touched.
The quirk activates.
Nighteye sees what happens to All Might after this meeting, the day after, weeks, months, up till the next two years, most of it was blurry because of his quirks, the longer the vision, the harder it is to see.
And out of the two years… All Might was still alive.
He quickly deactivates his quirk, finding no record of his brutal death that he saw years ago.
Nighteye rapidly breathes, taking in the reality of his situation, "im… impossible…" he looks up to see a surprised All Might, who didn't see the future but witnessed seeing Nighteye going through his future.
"What?"
"You're… you're right…" Nighteye admitted, "the future has changed…"
One change can cause a huge impact and change of plans for everyone involved.
Thanks to Midoriya's advice, All Might and Nighteye finally made up after years of being separated, solved when Nighteye saw a changed future.
Afterwards, he became closer to All Might again and became a bigger aid in taking down the terror that brought down his students, the League of Villains.
With Nighteyes foresight quirk, he figured out where the League's location and use the future against them.
By the time the League made their next move, an army of heroes surrounded Shigaraki and his group. They stood no chance, even when they tried to flee.
Shigaraki was arrested and sent to Tartarus, others met the same fate or were sent to a different prison facility.
And just like that, the threat of the League of Villains was over.
"It's over," All Might made a bold statement to the imprisoned All For One. "Shigaraki is now here with you and the League of Villains has now disbanded."
All For One, for the first time, was shocked, didn't expect the Symbol of Peace to overcome what had wanted, his legacy was now behind bars with him.
"I'm… impressed." All For One said without words, "I congratulate you on your success, it must be hard, but you did it nonetheless."
"So long as you're in here, you won't cause any dangers to society," All Might said, "and so long as Shigaraki is here… I'll do my best to help him."
"Help him?" All for One would have raised a brow if he had one.
"I'm going to try and reform him, to fix what you did to him, and maybe he can rejoin society and be a regular person again."
"And you honestly believe that?" All for One questions the retired hero, "from what I heard, no one has ever come out of this prison, not even for rehabilitation, he's already far gone, you can't save him."
"I have to try," All Might said, "even if it takes years, as long as I live, I'll get through to him while the world no longer has monsters like you."
"And that's where you're wrong," All For One counter, not before chuckling, amused from what All Might said to him.
"There will always be another monster, not me, not Shigaraki, but another, and you think your successor can deal with them when the time comes?"
"He will," All Might stood up from his seat, "because he will be the next symbol of peace, mark my words."
"Whatever you say."
Behind the mirror glass, Sir Nighteye was watching, seeing, and overhearing the conversation between the two, just when the time was up.
He was relieved that not only the demon and ruler of evil was behind bars, but so was his supposed successor and his gang. He has seen futures of their sentence, they will die in containment, forgotten by the world as they should.
The world was better off without them.
In a sense, Nighteye was happy, pleased that the nightmare was finally over.
But a hero's job is never over.
Though the League of Villains was imprisoned, Nighteye's contribution caught the attention of a higher power.
It's been a few weeks after the League's capture, afterwards, the crime rate starts to drop drastically, even if All Might was retired, heroes after he managed to prevail.
Proof that the world will be all right without the symbol.
Something Nighteye thought would work long ago.
It might be years too late, but at least he's still alive.
Nighteye just entered the room and walked towards the desk, writing the next paperwork for a villain he captured the other day. He was going to get his pencil. But notice something off in the room.
A sense he couldn't tell, he didn't turn around but had a feeling an intruder was in his office, it wouldn't be Bubble girl, or Midoriya or Mirio, they would knock before entering, this one felt more like a stranger's entrance.
Instead of grabbing a pencil, he used his heavyweight throwables next to the cup and quickly reacted.
Only for the shot to be quickly evaded by the intruder.
One in red wings.
"Woah," the intruder was surprised, reacting to the impacted broken wall. "You nearly hit me."
Quickly, Sir Nighteye recognise the man, a top hero, number three in the ranks if he wasn't mistaken.
It was Hawks.
"But yeah, I understand, I did walk in here unannounced, and you were cautious."
"What are you doing here?" Nighteye questions, who didn't suspect Hawks to be here or even care for his work, from what he heard from the hero, he was someone who tries to make a world where heroes have too much time for themselves, a promising dream, but it's a long shot even for him.
Hawks walk towards Nighteye, giving out his answer, "I got important business with you because I'm here on behalf of the Hero Public Safety Commission."
"The Commission?" this was eye-raising for Nighteye, for someone who seemed to disrespect authority and seemed careless, he wouldn't expect someone like him to be part of a very well organized that keeps society under control. "you're part of the commission?"
"Always have been, always will be," Hawks said, "and they sent me because you accomplished something that we couldn't. and they ask me to talk business with you."
Nighteye was intrigued by this strange event, his guard was up, but he allows the talk.
"Please, take a seat."
"Don't mind if I do."
The two then seated, ready to talk business.
"So, what did I accomplish that the safety commission never managed to do."
"For one thing, is capturing the League's leader and all their members," Hawks started, "then go on to uncover all the Nomu and hideouts that related to the league, capturing and apprehending a good number of villains on the way."
"It's my job after all," Nighteye adjusted his glasses.
"Yeah, way better than our plan, I was about to join the League as a double agent, so I can learn their schemes from the inside and strike them at a critical moment. But you beat me to it."
Hearing the idea of joining the League was surprising for the green hair man, a little unsure what to make of it or if it was the right move for Hawk's part, it would have put his career and his life at risk and many things could have gone wrong in every way.
"And because of your achievements and your quirk's capabilities… the Commission has offered you a placement."
"What do you mean by placement?" Nighteye curiously asked.
"The Hero Public Safety Commission is offering you full support of your agency, assigning you top-secret missions to ensure the safety of society, they will provide resources you need to take out potential villain groups," he made a slight smirk with one tap on the desk, "Hell if you go full in with the Commission, we can stop threats and incidents before they could happen."
It was a tempting offer, unsure if Hawks was playing one big joke, but it could help him, the commission is known for supporting heroes and society, but to have full support would bring his operations and his cases much quicker and more effective.
It also brings a new side of the commission he didn't expect, one that would surely be of use to him.
Use to make keep hold of All Might's vision of peace.
"I need to go elsewhere," Hawks interrupts the train of thought as he stood up from his seat and walk to the exit, "head to the main building when you make up your mind."
"I already have," Nighteyes comments, with a smile on his face.
A rare moment and only occurs when he was certain of a bright future.
For sure, Nighteye accepted the offer.
For the next five years, Sir Nighteye aided the Hero Public Safety Commission, starting with the fall of the Meta Liberation Army, seeing foresight of criminals and members preparing for a devastating attack, stopped thanks to him. This impressed the Commission, that after a dozen of successful cases of villain plot preventions, they offered Nighteye to be part of the commission instead of collaborating as part of his agency.
Nighteye accepts without hesitation, knowing that being part of the organization would bring a means to a better society.
Meanwhile, young students graduate from U.A and start to climb the ranks to be great heroes.
"Ha ha ha ha!" a villain runs away from the shop holding a trash bag full of money he managed to rob from the store. "another day, another score!"
"Stop right there!" a voice illumes In front of him, seeing a Pro hero in green.
The villain smiles carelessly, "ah… you must be Deku." He said, "heard of you beating plenty of villains around here, well, you're not going to defeat me."
Deku sees the villain dropping his bag of money and getting his quirk ready.
The green hero smiles, knowing something that he doesn't.
"I'm not going to be the one to defeat you, he will."
"He?" the villain questions, "who's AGH!"
Before he could question, a sudden surprise attack came from the ground beneath him, an uppercut to the jaw as another hero rise to defeat the villain before the fight could begin.
A hero with the number million on his chest.
Seeing the villain knocked out cold, Lemillion turns to see his best friend, "good job distracting him, Midoriya," he puts out a thumbs up to the green hero.
Midoriya in return smile at Mirio, "thanks, just helping out."
"That is so amazing."
"You save the day!"
"Way the go Lemillion!"
Witnesses of fans appear and approach the blonde hero, admiring and saying comments towards his actions,
Mirio in return smiles, "let's not forget Deku over there." He points at Midoriya who only a couple of people has admired him, not much as Lemillion has.
"Yeah, but you're a top hero, you could have defeated him without any heroes backing you up."
"He's right," Midoriya admitted, letting Lemillion have the praise, "experience is power after all."
A lesson he has learned back in his U.A days, from Mirio himself no less, the difference between him and Togata was that Togata had been in the pro hero field much longer than him, he was climbing the official ranks up to the top ten, currently in sixth place with the top three being Mirko as number three, Hawks as number two and Endeavour as number one.
Meanwhile, for Midoriya, Deku is only in the top two-hundreds, though still climbing, he's not long before reaching the top one-hundred in Japan.
He might not be the number one hero; he might not be the symbol of peace. But at least he's a hero, his dream came true.
Her legs were tired, but she must keep going.
She needs to stay away from her prison, stay away from those who want to hurt her, stay away from the monster.
Eri spent hours, walking endlessly through the road, the blood that covered her dried up. a while back she found a river where she clean herself, wiping any trace of blood.
Except for the stains on her dress and bandage wraps.
She didn't wear any shoes, and her feet felt sore feeling bumps of rocks on the pavement.
The girl takes a few breaths, hoping for somewhere to rest, somewhere to get food, somewhere where nobody can find her.
She stopped, hearing a distant car in her direction. Not before long, she saw something orange appearing from the slight hill, as it drove closer to her.
There was no running away, no hiding, not even getting out of the way. She wasn't afraid to take whatever is going towards her.
Eventually what was going towards her stopped at its track, it was a car that came to a stop before it could hit the girl in white.
The driver door opens and a woman appeared.
"My goodness!" she was surprised to see the girl in front of her, very concerned for the child. "what are you doing out here?"
Eri did nothing, she stared at the woman,
"Mom! What's going on?" a voice called out, catching the woman's attention.
"Stay in the car sweetie." The woman instructed her daughter before turning back to Eri. "are you lost? No girl shouldn't be here in the middle of nowhere."
"I… I…" The girl attempt to mutter, trying to speak out, a little nervous, yet have the urge to respond, "I… I ran away."
"Ran away?" hearing the young girl in the white dress, she was concerned, "what happened?"
"I… you… you won't understand… I have to… I… want to…"
"Look, what's your name?" the woman asked.
"Eri?"
"Alright, Eri, I don't know what happened, but you can't just get away from your home, you need to go back."
Suddenly, Eri was eyes widened from hearing this.
"Go… back?"
"Yeah," the woman responded, "I'll take you to the police, "
"No…" a weakened denial.
"They'll find your parents."
"No…" a shaken response.
"And they will take you back."
"No!" a demanding answer.
She was completely afraid, she continues to shake her head and stepped away from the woman, wanting to make a run for it, wanting to get away from her, she can't take her back, the police can't take her back.
"Don't…"
The woman notices her response, she wonders how bad was her home? probably something that got the poor girl to run away.
"Or maybe they can see what happened."
"No!" Eri continues to step away, but the woman step forward.
"Eri…"
"Stay away!"
"Trust me."
"You won't understand… they won't understand…"
The woman reaches out her hand, trying to comfort the poor girl in bandages.
"I'm trying to help."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Then, it happened.
She just wanted to push the woman and go in the opposite direction.
But instead, she used her quirk.
Upon touch, she couldn't take back what she did.
The next thing Eri knew, she saw the car, covered in a splatter of blood, what remains of the woman, she heard a girl's scream within the car, reacting as much as Eri was.
Eri meanwhile, was unfazed.
She wasn't scared anymore, she was… calm…
She took a few breaths, she looked at her hands, knowing that they were made to destroy, and it was something she needs to get used to.
She closes them and brings them down to her hips. Before taking one deep breath and walk towards the car.
Close enough, she see a terrified girl, who seemed to be the same age as her. Eri saw the fear in her eyes when she saw the horned girl, she sees her as a monster for killing her mother.
Eri couldn't blame her.
"Do… do you have any clothes?"
The girl was speechless, still shaken, yet tempting to answer, afraid that if she doesn't respond, the devilish emotionless girl would kill her too.
"The… the… the trunk…" she stuttered, "we… we were going vacation, at the mountains…"
Eri didn't respond, she just turns away from the girl and proceeded to open the trunk, finding a suitcase, she opens it and find a big, light-brown jacket and clothes to replace her white dress, socks, and boots so her feet wouldn't hurt.
After grabbing what she needs, the girl got out of the passenger seat, still shaken, and staring at the girl, now holding her clothes.
Eri, in response turn to see the girl, she took a breath, saw what she did and felt sad.
"I'm… I'm sorry for killing your mom…"
With that, the horned girl turns to the road and continue her path, leaving the girl behind.
The girl remained in the car, hoping for someone to arrive and help her, she will never forgive what that monster did to her.
She remains seated in the car until the heroes arrive, hoping that the one horn demon would be caught and brought to justice.
To be continued…
