The kids sat in Bulma's flying vehicle getting more eager with every passing second to start their training. Master Roshi had decided to train them at the same island, where he had trained Goku and Krillian when they were young. The only difference would be that Master Roshi would be putting them through much more extreme training. He would be doing this, because if these kids wanted to get strong, they would need to be pushed way harder then Goku and Krillian were. One example would be that they would have to year turtle shells that weighed way more then the one's Goku and Krillian wore. Eventually Bulma started descending her vehicle and they landed on a rather large island.
"Well kids here we are your home for the Summer," said Bulma.
"Wow, its beautiful," said Isabella, as the kids stepped outside.
"Don't let that fool you. I assure you, this will be the most difficult and demanding summer of your entire lives," said Master Roshi.
"Well I usually prefer an intellectual challenge, but a school challenge is a school challenge, so that just makes it more exiting for me," said Baljeet.
"Me to," said Phineas as Ferb nodded.
"I doubt this will be a challenge for me, I'm way stronger than all these nerds," said Buford.
"That won't make it any less challenging I promise you," said Master Roshi.
Master Roshi pulled a capsule out of his pocket, he clicked the top and threw it, and out popped a pink house that had 'Kame House' painted on the front.
"Is this where we will be staying?" asked Phineas.
"Actually, we've decided that since there are five of you, you guys will get your own place to stay. You'll still eat at Master Roshi's place, but in terms of sleeping, you'll be staying here," said Bulma pulling another Capsule out of her pocket, clicking it and throwing.
Out popped a rather large semi-spherical house. The kids went inside and were kinds surprised. There were bedrooms four rooms in total, each with their own bathroom and they still had their own kitchen and a living room. Three of the bedrooms had a single bed in them, but the fourth had a bunk bed.
"I was originally going to give you a room each, but Mrs Flynn-Fletcher, said Phineas and Ferb don't mind sharing," said Bulma.
"Regardless, this is great Miss Bulma, probably far better than we need," said Phineas.
"If you ask me it's a little too high class for students at the turtle school," said Master Roshi.
"Perhaps, but I agreed to sponsor both the accommodation and food for the summer, and I don't want anyone to think that Capsule Corp are cheapskates," said Bulma.
"Well I'm just glad you agreed to sponsor the food," said Master Roshi, who knew that these five young Saiyan's were likely to have enormous appetites.
"Yeah, I hope you don't mind, but we've noticed that we're all eating a lot more then we did as humans. And I mean a lot more. Mum and Dad were starting to worry that they wouldn't have money for extra trips this summer," said Phineas.
To the surprise of the children, Bulma was laughing.
"The fact that you kids became Saiyan's are exactly why I agreed to pay for your food. The amount of food my husband Vegeta and son Trunks eat still amazes me. So don't worry about how much food you'll need I got it covered," said Bulma.
"Wow thanks Miss Bulma," said Isabella.
"No worries. Now work hard, try to have fun and I'll be back for you guys at the end of the Summer to take you to the tournament," said Bulma, who went outside, re-entered her airship and took off.
"Alright, I'll let you kids have a quick lunch, but then we start our training," said Master Roshi, as they all followed him to his house so they could have some lunch.
This lunch was supposed to be quick, but the kids were all starving, and they ate a huge amount. Thankfully Master Roshi already had a lot of food frozen and Bulma said more would get delivered every few days to keep up, with the appetite of five Saiyan children. After lunch was done they went out side to start there training.
"OK the first thing I want to do is to test your current physical limits. I'm sure you've all done this before. We're gonna do a 100-metre sprint," said Master Roshi.
"That seems simple enough," said Phineas happily.
"Good, because the rest of our training will be much harder," said Master Roshi.
"You've said that like three times now," said Buford.
"Well I'm just trying to prepare you kids for the worst. Now you'll each be running separately and we'll be timing your speeds separately," said Master Roshi. "Now does anyone have a tape measure?"
Ferb pulled one out of his pocket. They used this to measure 100 meteres. Master Roshi stood at the end, while each of them stood at the start, so they could run the course separately. They went in the order of Phineas, Ferb, Baljeet Buford and Isabella. Ferb proved to be the fastest, then Buford, Phineas, Isabella and Baljeet. All of them had impressive speed for kids their age, but not nearly as good as Goku and Krillian did. Master Roshi was not disappointed by this, because he was made aware that these kids had little to no martial arts training. Master Roshi then decided to do what he did when he was training Goku and Krillian, he ran the track himself.
"Alright Phineas, you ready?" asked Master Roshi, taking of a turtle shell of his back.
"Yes sir," said Phineas, who had his finger on the stopwatch. "Ready, set, go."
Master Roshi took of with amazing speed. He was so fast that the kids could barely see him move. His ended up running the distance under five seconds.
"About 3 seconds," said Phineas amazed.
"That's so fast, especially for someone so old," said Ferb, equally amazed which was odd, because Ferb almost always spoke in a calm voice.
"Hmm looks like I've been slacking off a bit. Oh well it's never too late to improve. Also don't look so shocked Goku can move much faster than that and if you work hard enough so can you," said Master Roshi.
"Wow that's incredible," said Buford.
"So, you kids still sure you want to continue, because it'll only get harder from here," said Masert Roshi.
"Master we decided that no matter how difficult the training is, we'll give you 100% of our effort, so yes we are sure we want to continue," said Phineas.
"It makes me so happy to have such enthusiastic students," said Master Roshi. "Now our next exercise will likely take us the rest of the day."
"What's that?" asked Isabella.
"You're about to find out," said Master Roshi, pulling a marker out of his pocket and picking up a rock about the size of his fist.
He drew some weird looking symbol on the rock and showed it to the children.
"This is the symbol of the Turtle School, your job will be to find this rock and bring this back to me," said Master Roshi, who then threw the rock an insane distance into a forest, which existed below a large cliff.
"That seems impossible," said Baljeet.
"Goku managed to do it. And just in case some of you were planning to be slack, you should know that the people who don't find the rock, won't be getting dinner tonight," said Roshi.
"WHAT?" asked the children at once.
"You'd better get started, because you only have two hours to find the rock," said Master Roshi, he decided to give them a little extra time, since they had no previous training. "Oh, and Bulma told me that a few of you are extremely skilled inventors. You are all forbidden from using advanced technology. You have to find the rock with your eyes only."
The gang could not believe it. This training was even harder than they thought and they had a feeling it would only get more difficult from there.
"What are you waiting for. Me to say ready, set, go," said Master Roshi.
The kids took off as quickly as they could. Phineas and Ferb managed to find a path that led down the cliff and they had a feeling this would be the quickest way down. Isabella and Baljeet followed and each of them were racing down the path as fast as they could trying to get ahead of each other, because none of them wanted to go without dinner tonight. Buford however, thought he had a better idea. What if he did not have to necessarily find the same rock, what if he gave Master Roshi a fake one. He wondered around for a few minutes, until he found a rock of about the same size. His only problem now was getting a marker. Baljeet probably had one and Buford could likely catch up to the rest of the group and steal one, but he had a feeling, Phineas, Ferb and Isabella would tell on him for cheating. It was then that he noticed another house in the distance. Buford had a feeling that unlike the last island they were on, this one had a few inhabitants. He went up and knocked on the door. It was answered by an elderly lady.
"Can I help you?" asked the Lady.
"Yeah, would you mind if I borrowed a marker?" asked Buford.
The lady thought this was a weird request, but she was willing to lend Buford the marker. The lady also had some weird de ja vu, about this moment. She could've sworn a young bald boy asked the exact same request nearly thirty years ago. Upon receiving the marker Buford, drew the turtle symbol on the rock as best he could. He returned the marker thanked the lady, then took of to give the rock to Master Roshi. Once Buford got back to where they started, he hid so that Master Roshi, could not see him.
"OK, this guys really old, so I bet if I just act real tired he'll think I ran really worked for this and declare me the winner, besides there's no way the others will find the real rock in just two hours," thought Buford to himself.
And so, Buford ran to Master Roshi, doing his best to sound worn out.
"Master I found the rock," said Buford, presenting his fake.
"Really, wow that was quick," said Master Roshi taking the rock. "Let's see now."
To Buford's surprise, Master Roshi threw the rock at his head.
"You should know you aren't the first student who tried to pull that trick. But I have to ask did you really think you could fool me with something that isn't in my handwriting?" asked Master Roshi angrily.
"Alright I'll go get the real rock," said Buford, who had a feeling there would be no fooling Master Roshi.
Buford made his way down the same path as the rest. He had already lost a lot of time and if he didn't move quick, he'd never catch up to the others. He spotted footprints on the ground. There were a lot of different animals in this forest, but there were a set of fresh footprints that were definitely human. Buford had a feeling if he caught up to these, he would find the others. Sure, enough after a few minutes of running he spotted everyone else. They were all pushing each other or pulling each other back. Buford noticed however, that Isabella was only doing this to Ferb and Baljeet. Buford caught all of them by surprise and pushed them all over.
"See you later Nerds, that rock is mine," said Buford.
"Oh no you don't," said Baljeet, grabbing Buford's legs and tripping him.
They continued to struggle for a while, until Phineas decided they needed to stop.
"Guys, wait, stop," said Phineas. "What are we doing. Are we really gonna let dinner make us forget what we are?"
"Saiyan's?" asked Buford, who had Baljeet in a headlock.
"No, we're friends. Best friends. Look this Master Roshi, might be our teacher, but I'm not letting him make me forget who I am. So I say, we find this rock together and if even one of us can't have dinner, then none of us will eat, because we're in this together, as a team," said Phineas.
The rest of the gang were impressed by Phineas speech. They knew he was right; they could not let something like dinner turn them into enemies. They were gonna get through this together whether Master Roshi liked it or not.
"Phineas is right, I have to remember that you're not just my friend, you're my brother," said Ferb getting up and joining his brother.
"I agree. We may be Saiyan's by blood, but we're humans by heart and we can't forget who we are," said Isabella.
"This is the way more logical way to go," said Baljeet thinking out loud. "Alright, I'm in."
"I'll be honest I was planning to wait for you nerds to find the rock, then I was gonna steal it from you, but I swear on my honour as a Bully I won't do that," said Buford.
And with that the five friends agreed to work as a team.
"But now what do we do. Searching this entire forest will take all day," said Isabella.
Phineas thought about this for a second.
"We have to go back," said Phineas.
"How will that help us?" asked Buford.
"I know we need to use our eyes, but Master Roshi only said we can't use advanced technology. He said nothing about modern or primitive technology. Ferb do you still have your tape measure?" asked Phineas, as Ferb presented the tape measure.
"Ok, guys I know what we're gonna do today," said Phineas.
With that they all ran back to their starting spot as quickly as they could. They knew they had already wasted a lot of time, so every second was crucial. Master Roshi was curious as to why they were back with no rock.
"Master Roshi, can we ask a quick question?" asked Phineas.
"I suppose," said Master Roshi.
"You said no advanced technology, but could we still use a tape measure and a stick?" asked Phineas.
"I suppose," said Master Roshi, not seeing how this could benefit them.
Phineas used the tape measure to draw a map on the ground and used the tape measure to ensure it was drawn to scale. They did their best to remember the rough location of where Master Roshi had thrown the rock and then drew a rough map of the forest. Having done this, Phineas had a feeling he had a rough idea of where the rock could be.
"Ok guys follow me, I think I know where we can find it," said Phineas. "Ferb how much time do we have left?"
Ferb pulled out a pocket watch.
"One hour," said Ferb.
"Ok guys we have to go quick let's move out," said Phineas, and they all charged off down the cliff again.
Master Roshi still didn't know how this hand drawn map would help them find the rock, but he also had a feeling, that he wouldn't have to include basic schooling for these kids like he had to for Goku and Krillin. He would have to give them more challenging mental exercises. Some of these kids were already very smart and he had a feeling this would help them advance at an extremely quick rate.
