I am following Ron up the stairs while I look around. He is telling me about the company, about its history and how it became so big. I see little kids doing ballet, teenagers doing contemporary and hip hop. There are quite a lot of costumers here too.

When we arrive at the third floor. Why did we not go with the elevator? I am tired already, I am not fit at all, but I am not going to take these stairs every day, no way. I am trying to catch my breath as I follow him to a door. We pass another dance room and I peek inside. I see a woman teaching a few couples some ballroom dances, maybe it is something else, I do not know because I do not know anything about ballroom dancing. I watch the woman smiling, she is beautiful, and she looks so familiar. I know I have seen her before, but I cannot place from where.

Ron sees me standing at the door and came closer to look into the room as well. He starts to smile.

"That s Penny Johnson, one of the ballroom teachers here, she used to be a Rockette until three years ago."
"I've seen her before."
"She's famous, maybe you know her from the Rockettes?"
"No, I think I've met her at one of my father's charity events, but I can't really recall."
"You've got time enough to figure that out, let's go, my son is waiting."

I nod and follow him to the door. Penny looks at the door for a second and smiles a little. Ron knocks once and opens the door. We step inside and I see Johnny laying half in his chair, with his head laying back.

"God damnit, Johnny, what the hell are you doing?"

Johnny jumps and sees us. I watch him quickly doing something under the desk before he stands up. Then I see a woman coming out from under the desk.

"Miriam, really?"
"Sorry, boss."
"You should be cleaning the rooms, not giving my son a blowjob."

I see her face getting red and she quickly went away in total embarrassment. I look after her until she closes the door. I get what Ron has trying to tell me, I am not a naïve little girl anymore, though dad still thinks I am.

"Now tell me why I should give the company to you and not to Billy?"

Johnny looks from his father to me. I see him looking and turn my head away, he looks at his father again.

"Because I'm your son."
"Well, son or not, your cousin has more decency."
"Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm the bad one, the failure in your life."
"You know you got an interview and yet we find you in your office getting a blowjob from the cleaning lady."

I can see he starts to feel embarrassed now, maybe it is time for me to step in.

"Hi, I'm Frances Houseman. I'm here for the interview."

Johnny looks at me again. I can see him checking me out, but not in an obvious way, and then he starts to smile. Please be still my heart, that smile of his, I have never seen such a smile before, and I guess he does not often smile like this either. Ron sees the smile as well and starts to frown. He looks at me and I look at him.

"Well, son, aren't you introducing yourself?"
"Oh, yeah, of course."

I watch him coming closer from around his desk and extends his hand to me. Hmm, I am not sure if I should shake his hand, I have no clue where it has been before. I look at it as I hesitate.

"It is clean."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. I'm Johnny Castle, but I guess my father has told you already."
"Hmm, he hasn't told me much about the job itself, we were talking about other things."
"Really?"

Johnny looks at his father who nods. Ron looks at me and sees I am not scared and not wanting to flee and especially not flirting with his son whatsoever. Oh god, I know if I take this job, it is going to be hard not to get more feelings. I can imagine why women like him so much. I mean, just look at his face alone, and his eyes, then his smile. Right, I am going to stop with that now.

"Yes, shall we do the interview, or did you made your decision already?"

Johnny starts to laugh about it. It was not meant to be funny. I was actually dead serious, if I am going to work as his assistant, then I should be professional. Ron starts to smile now. I look at him and he gives me a nod of approval. I give him a smile and look back at Johnny.

"Oh, you're serious."
"Yes, I was, or do you think this is a joke?"
"No."

I can see he feels a little offended by my question, and I see a little frustration showing on his expression. I give him a bright smile. Ron turns to the door.

"I'll get Penny, please make sure to send Frances to my office after the interview."
"Why, dad?"
"Because, if you want it or not, she's getting the job, so, please don't be an asshole."

We watch him going outside, closing the door behind him. I turn back to look at Johnny who went to the window and let out a frustrated growl. I start to frown.

"You don't like your father?"
"It's not that."
"You want to talk about it?"

I became a little curious about the person he is. I think there is more to him than he shows to the outside world. I mean, he is a womanizer, that much is clear, but I think there is a reason as to why he is like this.

"Not really."

He turns, and on that moment Penny came inside, she smiles as she looks at him and then at me.

"Good, I don't find you in another indecent position this time."
"Pen."
"Well, I never know with you, especially lately it seems to be getting worse."
"Pen, I don't want to talk about it, okay? We've got an interview to do."

He nods his head towards me, as if I am a little child that should not be hearing anything sexual related.

"I'm not naïve or innocent, Mr. Castle."

The two of them look at me, his face full of astonishment, and Penny. Well, how to say this, her amusement is nearly contagious. She gives me a nod of approval and then sits down.

"Have a seat, I'm Penny Johnson."
"I'm Frances Houseman."

I extend my hand to her before I sit down. Johnny is still standing at the window, putting his hands in his pockets while he is looking at me.

"Wait, you're Jake Houseman's daughter, right?"
"The youngest, yes."
"I see, I think we've met at one of his events."
"Yes, I can remember that. I thought it was for sick children, you came to do a dance to illustrate that even sick children can dance."

I see Penny's smile growing. The memory just came into my mind when she asked the question, and I think she remembers me as well. Though that is something new, no one really remembers me. Or at least I think no one does.

"I remember, you were that little girl that your father has been praising for organizing everything. We spoke on the phone."

I start to smile about that, Johnny is getting confused, he came closer and sits down on his chair. I look at him with a smile, Penny looks at him as well.

"Johnny here is my dance partner, and my best friend."
"I didn't know."
"You couldn't, but when it comes to hiring people or selling lessons, I always need to be there, he is a bit of a bad decision maker."
"Really?"
"Pen, stop it please."

She rolls her eyes and looks at me with a smile. I look at her and she gives me a wink. Johnny let out a frustrated sigh.

"Come on, Johnny, you're so uptight, relax."
"Why should I? My father is hunting my skin, I feel like I'm in prison, I can't do what I want."
"Your father wants what's best for you."
"Yeah, that's why he has already hired Frances before I could say no."
"I would say yes too, Johnny, she'll be good for you."

I start to frown, good for him? What does that even mean? Penny looks at me and sees my confusion.

"Oh, no, sweetie, not in that way, I mean being his assistant."
"Call me Baby, it's what everyone calls me."
"Baby?"

I look at Johnny, and I see a grin appearing. I roll my eyes. Penny rolls her eyes as well.

"I like it, I think it suits you."
"So, Baby, tell me, you've got experience as an assistant?"
"No, but I'm good in organizing things, and I love to help people."
"Wait, my father hires an unexperienced girl to be my assistant?"
"I got to learn somewhere, don't I?"

I feel like defending myself. I see him watching me up close now and that smile appears on his face again. I should say smug face, but I cannot help but to think his very handsome face.

"How old are you, Baby? If you don't mind me asking?"

I look at Penny and smile.

"I'm seventeen."

I watch her nodding and standing up. I watch her looking at Johnny, who is looking at her. I see their expressions. I know they are communicating without words. I might start to watch them closely, to learn their expressions and what they mean. Penny turns to me having a smile on her face. I look at Johnny and see him grumble a little, or at least his expression is showing that.

"It's nice to meet you, Baby, and I want to say; welcome to the ballroom team. I hope you'll learn a lot and that you like the job."

I stand up as she came closer to me. She leans in a little while she lays her hand on my shoulder. I look at her face.

"And please, don't let him flirt with you, okay?"

I only nod, she squeezes my shoulder a little. I watch her walking outside, leaving the door open. Johnny sighs deeply. I look at him and watch him going to the door to close it.

"Don't mind Penny, she never closes the door behind her."
"Maybe she has a good reason for that."
"Oh yes, she has, so I wouldn't end up having sex with the woman she leaves me with."
"You're really only about sex, aren't you?"
"I'm more than that."
"Doesn't sound like it."

He did not reply, but instead he keeps looking at me. I see his expression, a do not dare to make this an argument expression. Well, I think itjust means that, but I am not sure. Though I might as well adopt that name to this expression. Maybe I should give all his expressions a name, so I know in what mood he will be, since I got the job anyway, I better can start on that already.

"Since my father has decided to hire you, and not leaving me a choice in this, I better show you your desk."

I nod at him, but I wonder, if he had the choice, would he have hired me too? I bet not, I bet he was waiting for another gorgeous assistant that he could flirt with and eventually have sex with.

"It's right behind you. I know it's nothing big, my father won't let me have the big office room on this floor. He told me I don't deserve that room, so it became Penny's."
"If you want your father's approval so much, maybe you should start trying to live up to him."
"You don't know anything about my father and our situation, and I rather have you not trying to mingle, it is our business, understood?"

Oh god, really, Johnny? Now you are going to act like a boss, just because it is about your father. Oh, I have a really good guess what this is about, and I do think I know why Johnny is acting like this.

"You hate it to be in his shadow all the time, don't you?"
"I'm warning you…"
"I know how it feels."

He was pointing at me, but I see his expression changing and his hand going down when I said that. I fold my arms and keep looking at his face. He sees my expression and then looks away.

"I know how it feels to have a father who has so many expectations, and then acts so disappointed because you don't want to live up to his expectations."

It is as if I have broken him down, I watch him crushing down, he slums into his chair and looks down. I can see him not wanting to cry. I inhale deeply and feel a little stupid that I have been trying to push his sensitive button. So, I turn and look at my desk, trying to think of something to say. I smile a little, the desk is not big, but it is good enough for me, it seems to have everything I need for doing this job.

He lifts his head up a little and watches me walking around the desk, sitting down, and laying my hands on it while I am smiling. He inhales deeply as I turn my head to look at him still smiling. I see him starting to smile, I am getting fond of that smile. He sees my face and I see him smiling a little more, it was not much, someone else would not see the difference, but the difference is in his eyes.

"If you want, you can go to my father's office for the contract, I guess he wants to give that to you."
"Okay, when do I start?"
"Tomorrow, be prepared, it will be a very busy time."
"Curious."

He tries to chuckle a little when he sees my teasing smile.

"We're in full organization for the summer period."
"What's the summer period about?"
"We're going to Kellerman's for three weeks."
"Kellerman's?"

My eyebrows go up and he sees my astonishment.

"Yeah, we go there every summer, giving lessons, workshops and doing shows. Pen and I need to do this, dad was so nice to push this thing on me."
"You don't like it?"

He stands up from his chair and went to the window again to look outside. I watch him, trying to read him, to figure him out. I want to, not only for this job, but also for myself. I know it sounds weird, but I want to know everything about him, and I am sure there is more to him than he really is showing.

"I hate it."
"You want to tell me?"
"Maybe another time, you don't have to know everything, okay?"

I know he has build up a thick wall around himself. I stand up and he turns to look at me again. I give him my most sweetest smile and I see another change. One I cannot figure out what it means, but that I desperately what to find out.

"I'll be going then, what time you want me to be here tomorrow?"
"At ten, we start at ten every morning and work until ten every evening, I hope you're up for that."
"Do I have a choice in this?"
"Not really, but you get a few hours for lunch and for dinner. If you don't live too far from here, you can go home to eat."

I nod and turn to go to the door. He watches me go. When I lay my hand on the doorknob to open it.

"Oh…"

I turn my head to look at him.

"I'm not going to make it easy on you."

Then he winks at me, all I could do was rolling my eyes and going outside, then I think of what Penny did and decide to do the same. I leave the door open and went to the elevator.

"Hey!"

I chuckle softly to myself as the elevator doors open and I step inside. He came to the door and sees me going inside the elevator, the doors close and the elevator went down. He sigh, and somehow he starts to smile again, then he turns and closes the door behind him.
