"Aurora?"

I heard a faint voice call to me

"Aurora? You awake?" They had said again

"Aurora, you need to wake up!"

They called to me once again, muffled by the cushion of my bed as they poked my cheek rolling me onto my side to wake me up

"It's about time, we got a rescue mission!" It was Scarlet, as much as she was dedicated to her work, she seemed easily excitable.

"We have a mission? but didn't we just join?"

"Well yeah, besides, maybe by helping others you'll be met by someone who can help you regain your memories"

"I guess you're right, " I pulled myself up thinking about a dream last night, It was odd, walking down a dark hallway, where time itself didn't exist...What was that?

"Something up?"

"Oh, no It was just a dream last night"

"Perhaps maybe just a sunken memory?"

"Maybe...But we should go do the mission"

"O-oh I forgot entirely!" She looked surprised, I'm guessing she was the energetic type who would get so excited that she would lose focus and forget what she was doing.

It seemed to be in a place called "Tiny Woods" where there's a lot of bug-type Pokémon as I'm told, so that meant, Scarlet would be the most useful, that and I haven't quite learned how to fight yet, the ice from the guild was purely accidental when I sneezed.

"Just follow me to Tiny Woods, Aurora!" I nodded not sure what to say, perhaps I wasn't ready for a mission yet, I wasn't sure if it was common sense telling me this or it was fear in disguise as a voice.

"Hey Scarlet, congratulations on becoming a Pokémon Rescue team, and you are?" It had been a nice lady Kangaskhan, despite the intimidating figure, she was quite calm and graceful

"Oh me?" She nodded"I don't exactly have a name, but at the guild, everyone just calls me Aurora"

"You don't have a name?"

"You see, he washed up on the beach yesterday with amnesia, so we decided to call him Aurora"

"Well isn't that nice, I hope you remember soon and feel free to come over at any time, Good luck on your mission." She smiled"Oh, what's your team name?"

"Team...Name...Oh, my Stars! I forgot to make one!"

"We need a team name?"

"Of course, all of the best teams have a name!"She started pacing, my guess is her emotions jumped quickly from excited, to frustrated in a matter of seconds. "I've got it! We'll call ourselves, Team Ranger!"

"It suits you perfectly, with a large difference in types, you can easily reach more areas than if you were both fire types"

"I'm guessing that I'm an Ice-type?"

"Yeah, And I'm a Fire-Type!"

"Yes! That's exactly correct, good luck on your mission"

We said our goodbyes and started to head south towards the beach

"This is where I woke up," I said looking towards the salty sea, one or two wingulls flying over the ocean, A few boats docking by the sand...It felt...peaceful even with the salty air seeming through my hair

"Do you think your family misses you?"

I was surprised, even though I didn't know much about her, it still shocked me that she would ask.

"Well...Maybe, I don't know..." I said lightly, What if I didn't even have a family. I would have asked why, but I felt it was too personal, after all, she just...paused with a sad look.

"I see..." We both looked away, I think I heard a light sob from her until she just spoke once again"Anyways, w-we should be heading to Tiny Woods"I could see her wipe her eyes, so I just decided to keep quiet.

The journey towards the forest...It was quiet and awkward, neither of us spoke, probably due to what she asked earlier.

"This is the place!" She then said with a forced smile, I bet she just wanted to forget that short conversation, I guess I probably should forget as well.

"Right, Let's go help that Pokémon!"I paused for a second" Which Pokémon are we helping exactly?"

"According to the mission, It's Pikachu's younger brother, Pichu"

"Well, I'm not entirely sure who Pichu is, or what they look like...But I'll just stick close to you until you see him"

"Right! Let's go!"

We then headed into the cave seeing it barely lit as Scarlet lifted a stick out of the toolbox and set the end on fire holding it in her mouth. "This way!" Her voice was slightly muffled, nevertheless, understandable.

"Right," All I could actually do was follow from behind and hope to not be a burden. A couple of floors down and I could hear the sound of someone crying echoing throughout the dungeon

"Do you hear that?"

"Yeah, I think it might be Pichu"I wasn't sure if it was or not, but it was high pitched but still low up to an extent, perhaps a child?

Scarlet then rushed forwards with me at a struggle to keep up, She was confident, energetic, and determined, A sudden burst of emotion I wasn't able to compete with.

" Don't worry Pichu! We'll be there in just a second!"Scarlet shouted out which caused several Zubat to swoop down at once

"W-what are those!?" I cried ducking to avoid being struck down

"Those are Zubats! They hate sudden loud noises, you'll have to use one of your moves"

"One of my What!?" I asked seeing she was no longer in sight, could she not hear me? That meant I was on my own...

"Think, Aurora what happened with the ice!" I thought staying down to stay safe "I sneezed then I shot ice from my mouth...maybe some kind of breath?" It was now or never. I inhaled, holding in my breath for a second, then before my eyes, a wave of frost fired from my mouth scaring away the Zubat, I felt amazing like I could do anything

"Aurora! I found Pichu!" Scarlet told me seeing that the Zubat had run, as well as that I was scarred with fur lying on the ground next to me. Apparently, I had been hurt pretty badly, but the adrenaline made it so I didn't feel it, in fact, I felt pretty great!

"You're hurt!" Scarlet ran to me looking at me from every angle" You were hit pretty hard, I shouldn't have run...I just got scared," She looked away ashamed

"It isn't your fault, besides I feel fine," I told her.

"R-right" She glanced back at me a few times then leading me to Pichu, who had a bruise on its leg, It was then that looking upon him I froze, starting to see glimpses of...someone on the ground holding their knee in pain, it was then I saw my hand reach out to help them.

"Aurora? Are you okay? H-hey! Snap out of it!"

"Huh, oh sorry...I don't know what happened..."

"Me either, you just started staring at Pichu and froze up like you saw something."

"I did see something...It was some kind of vision...With someone, perhaps from where I came from"

"What did they look like!?"

"It was kind of fuzzy, but they were tall, fur on their head...I didn't see much but they seemed hurt and crying, and I saw someone's hand reaching out to help them"

"You saw a Human? I don't think so, maybe some kind of movie you were shown as a kid"

"Maybe...It's hard to describe"

"Is something wrong with him?" The Pichu asked

"Oh no, This is Aurora, he's fine he just has a little Amnesia is all"

"Don't you worry, I'm all alright, now let's get you home safe to your brother, kay?"

"...Okay..." Pichu hesitated, he seemed more worried about me than himself. Next, he tried to stand but fell wincing around where his left leg was.

"You're hurt? Well no worries, you can just climb on my back" I lowered down as Scarlet lifted him, placing him on my back, he was quite light so it didn't strain me.

"Now just hang on tight to Aurora, Okay? I'll keep you safe from behind" She said almost like an older sister, supporting them and refusing to leave their side.

As we began to exit the dungeon I could see the light at the end of the cave...Triggering another vision, this time it was of the dream last night, walking down a dark corridor, where time itself ceased to exist. With Pichu on my back, I knew that I had to ignore it and keep going.

Light...We were outside and now covered with dirt and scratches. Even so, I looked back at Pichu"We're outside buddy...Let's go see your brother, yeah?"

"Yeah!" He was excited, not only that he would see his brother again, but he was also glad to see that we were all okay, such a good kid.

"Pichu! I'm glad to see you alright!" Pikachu said to his younger brother as I came close allowing him to pick him up

"Big brother Pikachu!" He cried happily jumping into his arms

"Glad to see you're feeling better, try to be a little more careful now, Kay?" I said with a wave

"Wait, what about your payment?"

"Payment?"

"Oh, sorry about that, I probably should have explained missions better," Scarlet said to me then turning to Pikachu"This is Aurora, he has amnesia so he doesn't quite understand everything yet"She took a pause"Seventy percent of the payment from missions goes to the guild to help with supplies, meals, and equipment, the other thirty we get to keep for our own lives"

"Oh...I think I understand now"

"Well, as payment, You each can have one-thousand Poké"

"O-one thousand!?" Scarlet asked shocked"W-we can't possibly take this much from you"

"It isn't that much money, besides, It helps with future missions, so you can continue to help other Pokémon"

"It isn't? So why did she seem surprised...maybe she grew up in poverty? It's a touchy subject so I shouldn't ask."I thought

" Well, I guess it's alright, for the guild!"She still seemed reluctant to accept it

"Thanks a ton, be sure to keep Pichu safe, okay?"

"I will!" We said our goodbyes as we returned to the guild to report the mission a success

"I take it you got Pichu back safely to his brother?"

"That's right!" Scarlet said first as Wigglytuff glanced towards me wary of my injuries.

"You okay?"I had still felt the adrenaline so I wasn't quite bothered by the pain, nor did I acknowledge it.

" I'm completely fine, Just got a little banged up in the cave is all," I said not aware of how bad I actually looked.

"Well, if you say so, good job out there you two!"He smiled kindly" I knew you two would be the perfect match"

I nodded unable to think of anything else to say as he dismissed us to relax, for the time being, Maybe I could explore the town a bit, or perhaps get something to eat. We began to head outside of the room crossing paths with Sylvie and Akari.

"Aurora, Scarlet! Good to see you both" Akari said first lowering down to be eye level as Sylvie paused to look at me.

"Good to see you too, We just completed our first mission," I said feeling proud, It had gone so well nothing could go wrong!

"Hey, Aurora, stay still for a moment" She took some bandages from her bag then starting to wrap them around where I was hurt, around the middle of my torso, around my forelegs and hind legs as well as around my forehead.

"Much better, you got hurt, didn't you?"

"I didn't feel it, thanks anyways" It was then that the bandages started to freez

"No problem, have you remembered anything?"

"I don't believe so, but when I saw Pichu I saw...some kind of vision with what Scarlet called a human...It might have just been a memory of a story I once heard."

"I see, well if you remember anything just come tell me," She said with a slight wave as we went our separate paths starting to head into town.

"I wonder where you came from, after all, you just appeared and you're having visions of Humans, you are aware that they're just myths, either they went extinct thousands of years ago, or they're just fictional, no-one quite knows the answer, "Scarlet said to me as I walked

" I wish I knew too, I don't even know who I am, for all I know, I could be a human," I said with a short laugh, not being serious, I mean if they don't exist how could I be one?

"Well, you make a valid point, and we've got the rest of the day off, we might as well get something to eat," Scarlet said with her stomach quietly growling, she blushed hoping I didn't hear it, But I just stayed quiet, it'd be more awkward if I ended up saying something.

"Do you know anywhere we can get food?"I asked her than hearing distant flapping come near as a Pelliper came down to me

" Letter for Aurora!"It quickly said dropping a letter as I began to read

"Dear Aurora We are your parents, after finding out that you washed up here we quickly sent out help to bring you home, Love, your parents"I read out loud.

"Y-your parents!?" Scarlet asked, now looking down almost as if she didn't want me to leave, even though we had just met.

"Yeah! I bet they were so worried!" I said seeing tears creep down her cheek as she ran

"W-wait, Scarlet!" I followed after her forgetting the letter on the ground and chasing her back to the beach.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"Just leave me alone!" She cried firing a small flare from her mouth burning my ankle as I fell losing my balance."I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"

"It's okay, just tell me what's wrong?"

"It...It's you, I was abandoned by my parents, since then, almost nobody cared about me. I was alone, the only one who cared was Kangaskhan, she didn't have enough to take care of me as her child, but she did her best to support me as a mother"

"I'm...sorry I shouldn't have got excited"

"It isn't your fault, It just reminded me, that nobody ever cared"

"Then why not become part of my family!"

"Y-you're serious? I can live with you?"

"Of course, Nobody should be forgotten, Let's go get back that letter"

Upon returning to the letter, It showed directions written in crayon in sloppy handwriting. Scarlet looked suspicious of it, but maybe they were just a little messy and colorful, nothing to judge them for. once arriving at the location it was in the middle of a park when some laughing was heard from a bridge above

"How gullible can you get!" A voice boasted out with an array of stones were thrown at Scarlet and I. I don't remember what happened next, all I know is it suddenly got dark as I felt a sharp pain in my head.

It must have been hours later when I woke up in the Rescue guild on some hospital beds I was in one, Scarlet was in another.

"Ngh...What happened...Where am I?" I asked sitting up feeling an intense headache.

"Oh good, you're awake, you both were found unconscious in the park last night" A voice had said, it had been a large, pink Pokémon with a gentle voice and a white medical apron and hat.

"All I can remember is going to meet my parents in the park after receiving a letter from them."

"It's hard to believe those kinds of people, they tricked you by sending a fake letter just because you had amnesia"

"Oh...so I guess they don't know where I am yet..." I said then remembering what Scarlet had said...She didn't have a family.

Scarlet began waking up as well seeing the similar surroundings, she had already known what had been done as she looked away disappointed

"Sorry, we couldn't meet your parents...I should have said something about the letter"

"It isn't your fault, people like that have nothing better to do so they attack others"

"Well, the good news is you haven't sustained severe injuries, you'll have a slight headache for a while"The nurse treating Scarlet and I had said as we got out of the hospital beds seeing Sylvie and Akari outside of the room waiting for us

" Thank goodness you're alright, we found you guys unconscious in the park being attacked by those dumb kids"

"I'm fine, just a headache is all," I said looking down at frozen bandages around my ankle from when I was burned.

"What happened to those kids anyway?"

"They're being scolded by their parents, I just don't get it, Pokémon are getting more and more violent lately.

" Violent? Why do you say that?"

"Since a couple of weeks ago, There has been an increased rate of wounded Pokémon being attacked. We aren't sure why but it's just been so tense lately"

"Maybe some kind of possessing? Like a Gengar using Hypnosis?"Scarlet guessed

" Pokémon can do that?"

"Yeah, Each Pokémon has its set abilities and powers. For example, your attacks are ice and fairy based, Scarlet's is Fire and soon to be Psychic"

"Oh right, when I evolve into a Braixen!"

"Exactly, and soon with an Ice Stone you'll evolve into an Alolan Ninetails"

"It's getting pretty late to be honest" Akari began to say"We should get some sleep so we aren't tired in the morning"

"That's a good point, you two rest up, And We'll see you guys later,"

"Right, see you later, Thanks for bringing us here" I had said with a yawn, despite sleeping for most of the day and the night before, I had still felt fairly tired, I could tell Scarlet felt the same

Alola again! It's me Sunne, but here is the second chapter of Memory Collapse, I've never actually played PMD so I'm trying my best, feel free to comment on anything that could be changed, I'm open to suggestions
