After blacking out, I didn't remember much, nor could anyone explain what happened that day. Once awakening, I saw Zoroark looking at papers, maybe bills as Ivysaur did the same, I seemed to be in a bed of some sorts, made of hay like a nest.
"What's wrong?" I asked sitting up and seeing bandages wrapped and tied around my torso and belly, They weren't all bad, after all, they just needed money.
"Oh, you're awake, sorry about the van knocking you out, when we got here you had a bunch of boxes collapsed on your body."
"Oh, I hadn't realized, What are you looking at?"
"They're bills, As I said, I can't pay my bills since you get put in prison once, and no-one'll give a second chance"
"That's horrible...What can I do to help?"
"Well, we were thinking if they thought you were in trouble, then people would be willing to help"
"Wouldn't it just be easier to start your own job, or move somewhere else to get a fresh start?"
"You need money for that, where did you come from, you should have at least known that"
"I don't remember, sorry"
"Oh right...You have amnesia"
"What about joining the Rescue guild, they'll accept you, all you need is to prove yourself!" I wanted them to be able to provide for themself and be good people.
"That's awful nice of you, but they'll never believe me" I could tell she reacted to my emotions as she backed away slightly.
" You won't know until you try! They let me join, I'm a complete stranger! I'll make them give you a chance!"
"You're young and harmless, I'm sorry but here, they see my face and automatically think poor of me"
I had been determined to bring her a better life, how is someone supposed to learn from their mistakes if no-one gives them a second chance!?
•Scarlet POV•
I swung awake at night, with nothing but the blankets and starry sky to comfort me. Yet again I had nightmares of everything that happened to Aurora, Sure some of them seemed unlikely, but it raised my fear to a new intensity.
"Scarlet? You okay?" Volt began to come close to me seeing my scared expression.
" It...It's Aurora, I'm scared..."
"I am too, but I'm sure he's alright, I bet any day now, he'll wake up right there and say good morning"
"Thanks...I just can't help but feel worried about him. Even so, he's gone through so much, Just woke up on the beach without any memory whatsoever."
"I didn't realize it was like that, All we can do is hope, if they're wanting a ransom then we'll know that he's coming back as soon as possible"
"Right..." I wanted to believe that he was going to be okay, but no matter how I tried, the heart-shattering weight of fear still overpowered hope.
"Let's get some sleep, It's bad to stay up late"
I could tell that he quickly fell asleep, but as for me, I just couldn't seem to get the thought out of my head that Aurora could be tortured as I lay here.
I'm sure it was hours later as a large commotion was heard outside, Leaving me currently, wide awake with Volt seeming to be the same.
"What's going on, some kind of event?"
"I wouldn't know, today isn't supposed to be anything special" I rubbed my eyes looking out the window to see...Aurora!? Protecting Zoroark and Ivysaur!? I rushed downstairs, pushing my way through the crowd to get a view of everything.
"Kid, move out of the way, they're criminals!"
"They Were criminals, I may not know how things work here, but they can't prove themselves to be good if you won't let them!" Aurora seemed determined, And I've never even seen him act like that, Who is he truthfully?
"If you never let people prove themself, then just how are they supposed to redeem for their mistakes, why should you fix yours but they can't"
"Kiddo, listen, I know you want to help, but right now this is Ivysaur's and my problem, Go return to your friends, and good luck with your memory"
"Zoroark...Are you sure?"
"Of course, no reason you should be brought down with me." She returned her attention from me to the sheriffs with a gentle smile"You can take me, Just don't bring the kid into it, he's too kind for jail"Looking up, I wanted to say more, but there was still a chance that they may get in more trouble if I continued to meddle in their affairs.
"Thanks, Kiddo, For giving me a chance" I could see a tear prick from her eyes as she gave a small hug" Not many Pokémon are like you, be proud of that"
"Sheriff, wait!" Wigglytuff called out, directing any outwards attention to the pink Pokémon
"What is it?"
"I think we should give them a chance, maybe our community is flawed"
"Wigglytuff, are you sure?"
"I am, After all, they've returned Aurora safe and sound and were about to turn themselves in. If Aurora wants to give them a chance, then we should think about it"
I could detect some hesitation from the sheriff, they began to think before smiling with a nod, "For a kid with amnesia, you sure have a way with words, keep an eye on them for me, Kay?"
"Right!"I smiled, They finally had their chance into society, now they could prove themselves to be great members of society!
" Thank you so much Kiddo!"I could tell that all along they hoped for the guild to accept them, starting from that moment anyways as they both had been tightly hugging me.
"N-no problem" The hug slightly hurt, but I didn't mind.
"Aurora! I'm so happy you're alright!" Scarlet called out, running to him as he was placed back on the ground while Scarlet tackled him with tears of glee.
"Sorry I scared you, But this is Zoroark and Ivysaur!"
"Uh...Hiya!" Ivysaur said with the wave of their whip, slightly nervous but happy nonetheless. Scarlet slightly backed away.
"Wait! Don't worry they aren't here to cause harm, they never did. They only needed money because jail ruined their reputation"
"Oh, That makes sense, It's nice to meet you two!"
"Nice to meet you as well, you must be Scarlet"
"Y-yeah I am, how'd you know?"
"Your friend mentioned your name, No wonder he wanted to return, you two are perfect for each other"
"W-wait!? I didn't mean it like that! I-I just meant we were friends!" I felt my cheeks burning, so I think I was blushing. Either way, it was not helping my case.
"Well, I should probably show you around, Follow me"
Once they got the tour, Scarlet was the one to ask"What's your team name?"
"Our team name?..." Zoroark Started."Team...Shadow"
"Ivy!"
"Team Shadow Ivy?"
"Yeah!" They said at once"It sounds perfect"
"Alrighty then, This'll be your room, Come talk to Wigglytuff if you have any questions"
"Alright, we will!"
"Aurora? Are you feeling alright? They didn't force you to say that, did they?" Sylvie said to me, asking if I was okay. While I wasn't severely injured, It was nice to see they cared.
"No, I believe they can turn for the better, They didn't try to hurt me, They even asked me to act like I was in trouble so they could get the money"
"So all those injuries?"
"They weren't faked, The guild-members scared them so the boxes in their vehicle fell on me"
"Wow, you're real special!"
"I am?"
"Well, it seems like you're the only kind of Pokémon who would help someone, despite what they have done to you"
"Oh, gee, thank you" I looked up for a second, beginning to think.
"Something the matter?"
"Oh, it's nothing, Zoroark said I reminded her of her kid... I wonder what she meant..."
"Your determination most likely"
"It's hard to be sure...B-but is it okay if I could get some sleep?"
"Oh of course! Get all the sleep you need, after all we can't have our members be tired"
"Thanks, I guess I'll see you later then"
"Yep, I'll send Scarlet and Volt on a mission while you rest"
