Ron and Jamie came to our cabin and Johnny let them get inside. Ron sees me and hugs me. I have been crying about this message, I want Lisa to be back here with us. Dad was right, it was not a good plan for Lisa to do this, and now she probably will die because of me. It is all my fault. Billy, dad, and pops arrived some minutes later. I grab pops and hug him.
"Show me that message, boy."
Johnny gives his phone to dad who reads the message carefully.
"Can we trace Lisa's number?"
"We can, but it's not necessary, I know at which quarry they are."
"You're sure?"
"I am, it's the place where I've met Claire during a college party. It's where we fell in love, or rather, where I fell in love."
"A college party in a quarry?"
Ron looks at pops and nods while he inhales deepy. He tries not to think about that night, it was the start of his nightmare.
"It's the old quarry not too far from here. It has been closed fifty years ago, and back in the days teenagers always went there for parties and the like. It is the only quarry that is close to the resort."
"I know which one you mean, Ron."
Ron looks at pops who gives him a nod. I am confused. People went to an old quarry to party, and god knows what else? This feels like I got into a movie.
"So, are we ready for this?"
"Have you called the cops, Ron?"
"I did, and I've called Roger as well, he told me to play along for as long as that's possible until the cops arrive at the quarry."
"How will you know when that will be?"
"Jake will stay at the entrance to the quarry with Billy and Johnny."
I look at Johnny, and I start to cry again. I do not want him to go, what if he gets hurts? Or worse, killed? He quickly came to me and kneels in front of me. I look in his eyes and cup his lower jaw. He strokes the tears away and gives me a soft kiss.
"Please, don't get hurt."
"Don't worry, Baby, I'll bring back Lisa and make sure mom will be arrested."
I nod and grab him into a tight hug. He hugs me back as I press my face against the pit of his throat.
"Pops will bring you to nana and your mother, pumpkin, stay with them, okay?"
"Okay, dad."
I let Johnny go and stand up to hug dad as well. He smiles a little and gives me a kiss on my head. I let him go and give Ron and Jamie a hug too. I look at Billy, he is smiling at me. I went to him to hug him as well, and he hugs me back. Billy and I became really good friends over the time we are here at Kellerman's.
"Will you watch out for your cousin?"
"Of course, Baby, I make sure he'll be back in one piece."
"Thank you."
I whisper and let him go. I turn and look at my man, he gives me that special smile. I went to him and we kissed for a moment.
"Let's do this."
They look at Ron who went to the door. The others followed him outside. I look at Johnny and give him one more kiss. He smiles, I know he is trying to encourage me not to worry, but I cannot help it.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Baby."
With one more kiss, he disappears as well. Pops came closer to me and lay his arm around my shoulder. I look up at him and try to smile at him. He looks at me with a smile.
"Let's go to mom and nana."
"Okay."
We walk in silence. I know, normally I talk a lot, especially with pops, and I know he enjoys our walks and talks very much, but this time I do not know what to talk about, I am worried about Johnny. I am scared that he will get hurt, or that Lisa will get hurt. Pops looks at me as we are near the cabin.
"Try to relax, sweetie, the stress isn't good for the baby, your father told you to try to avoid stress."
"I know, but it's hard to relax."
"I understand, but please try."
"I will."
Then we went up the stairs.
Johnny drives to the quarry on Ron's directions. He has never been there, obviously it was a thing that people of Ron's and Jake's age were doing a lot, partying in old quarries. They look around to see if they see other people around, but it looks deserted. Then they see Claire's car.
"Park there, son."
Ron points at some trees, Johnny turns the wheel and parks his car. He turns off the engine and turns to look at his father who is smiling at him.
"You're sure you don't want me to come with you?"
"No, son, then your mother knows what's going on, we need to play along."
They step out and look around when they walk to the gate where Claire's car is standing. Johnny sees a grey building.
"You think they're in that building?"
"Yes because that's the only building left here in the quarry."
Johnny turns and looks at the rest. He inhales deeply as he thinks of a plan. He really wants to do something, he cannot take it that he must wait here while his father and Lisa are in danger inside that building.
"Okay, so Jamie and dad will go inside, right?"
"Yes, and you and Billy can stay outside, just make sure that you're not seen, okay? Your mother is dangerous and I don't know if she has a gun with her or not."
"Mom always has a gun with her."
Jamie inquires them, Ron nods and looks back at his son.
"Okay, good to know. If it gets out of hand, we will shout the word banana, that will be the sign for you and Billy to get inside and help us."
"Okay, and Jake stays here for when the cops arrive, right?"
"I will, and I'll look out if there would be anything happening out here."
"Great, let's go and do this."
Jamie and Ron quickly walk to the building. Johnny and Billy follow them on a distance, trying to stay unseen. The building has three windows on each side and two at the front. Jake is looking after them and inhales deeply, while he knows that his oldest is in there, in god knows what condition, and he has the urge to run inside and get her, he will stay where he is standing. He does not want Lisa to get hurt, and if everything is going according to plan, then Claire will be arrested as soon as she comes outside.
"Claire?!"
Ron asked out loud as he opens the door. Jamie follows him inside. They look around, no light are burning, but yet there is no electricity here. The only light is coming from the dusty windows, it is enough to see Claire and Lisa.
"You're in time, I began to think that you didn't mind if Lisa gets cut into pieces."
Ron stops walking, making Jamie to stop behind him. They look at Claire holding a knife, she stands behind Lisa, holding the knife against Lisa's throat while having her evil smile on her face. Then she sees Jamie.
"Jamie, son, why don't you come here to your mother."
"Why?"
"Because I've missed you, I panicked when I didn't found you at the motel."
Ron turns his head to look at Jamie, he looks at Ron and inhales deeply. Ron gives him a nod, and Jamie went to his mother.
"Show me the papers!"
"Let Lisa go, she hasn't done anything to you."
"Yes, that's maybe true, but it was difficult to kidnap her little sister, and Lisa went willingly with me. So, it changed my plan a little."
"If I knew you would becoming like this, I never would've married you in first place."
"You were an easy target for me to get my hands on."
"How many children do you even have?"
"That's none of your concern."
"I think it shows how disgusting you really are."
"Me disgusting? You were my worse nightmare, Ron, you really think I enjoyed having sex with you? It disgusted me, but don't worry, you were not the only one who was disgusting in bed."
Ron is getting angry, his hand are making fists, and he is flexing them a little. Jamie stands next to his mother now, and she looks at him. Then she looks back at Ron.
"If you really want to know. I've got four children, all stupid bastards."
Ron inhales deeply and let the air go out in a deep sigh. Lisa's eyebrows went up, then she looks at Jamie and gets scared of him. Claire has seen the reaction and she cackles about it. Jamie is getting angry, he feels betrayed by his mother, calling all her children stupid. He is making fists, but Claire does not seem to notice. Ron needs to stretch time, so he has to keep her talking, no matter how disgust he is with her.
"Where are the other two?"
"Mandy lives in California, and Richard in Ohio, but enough about my stupid children! I'm getting tired of this, where are the papers?"
"I'm surprised you can even remember your children's names."
Claire ignores the comment as she watches Ron. He slowly went with his right hand into his pocket. She sees him taking the papers out of his pocket. He sees her smile growing, and then she cackles a little. Why in the world did he never saw her for who she truly is?
"Good boy, I knew you would be listening eventually, you're a weak man after all."
"Let Lisa go."
"First the papers."
"No, let her go first, then you can have them."
Claire is making little eyes, and pointing the knife at him for a moment before she puts it back on LIsa's throat, making Lisa to struggle again.
"No, no, no, no, we're going to do this my way, okay? I let Lisa go whenever I feel like it, and when I've seen those papers and made sure they're not fake."
Ron inhales deeply, he does not see another way to do this. Claire turns her head to look at Jamie. Then she let Lisa go and holds up the knife to him. He looks at it and then at her face being a little confused about what she want him to do.
"Take it, idiot."
"Why?"
"Because I want you to keep holding it on Lisa's throat while I'm going to get the papers, why else?"
"I don't want to do that."
"You want to get hurt too?"
He sees her expression, then he looks at Ron who gives him a little nod while he is trying to think of another plan. Jamie takes the knife and moves more behind Lisa, but he did not put the knife on her throat. Lisa is struggling again, she has never met him before, so she does not know that Jamie is on our side. Claire keeps looking at him and sighs deeply and annoyed.
"Put the knife on her throat, what did I just told you?"
"But…"
"No! You do as I say, or do you want to be homeless again? Remember my promises."
Jamie feels truly conflicted, but still did not put the knife on Lisa's throat. Ron can see that she is trying to get into his head. Jamie looks at Ron again, who now shakes his head to tell him not to listen to his mother. Claire has enough of this, she pulls her gun out and aims it at her son. He looks at her and gets scared.
"Do it now!"
Jamie did not want to show that he is scared of his mother, but he does not want to disobey Ron, so he shakes his head no and let the knife drop onto the floor. Claire moves to him and puts the gun against his temple while she looks at his face.
"I don't care if you die, you're the stupidest of all the bastard children I got, give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you?"
"Stop it, Claire!"
Claire looks at Ron. She sees his expression and starts to cackle about it.
"You care about him? Is that what it is?"
"He didn't do anything wrong! And he's your son, for god's sake! Let. Him. Go."
"You forgot that he punched you."
"Because you told him so, you're a bad influence on the boy. You'll pay for what you've done to me, and your sons!"
"Oh, boohoo!"
Ron steps closer, he has to do something, he cannot watch her holding the gun against Jamie's temple any longer. She sees him moving, and turns to aim the gun at him. Ron stops moving as he looks at the gun.
"Stop right there! Don't you dare to come any closer!"
Jamie looks from him mother to Lisa, then he sees how Claire steps a little forward, having all her attention on Ron. Jamie came in action as he looks at the knife. Je kneels slowly to pick it up, Ron sees him moving, and understood what Jamie wanted to do, so he has to keep Claire's focus on him. Lisa sees Jamie taking the knife when she turns her head, and she gets scared again. He looks at her and gesture at her to be quiet, she nods at him.
"You want these papers or not?"
"On my terms, and I first want my stupid son to listen to me."
"Leave him out of this, this is something between you and me."
Jamie moves silently, Lisa watches him as he carefully cuts the straps on her arms, then he cuts the straps on her legs. Ron sees them while he keeps looking at Claire. She wants to turn around, and Ron clears his throat, her focus went back to him.
"Okay, we'll do this your terms, but first this…"
Claire makes little eyes at him, Ron sees Jamie helping Lisa to stand up silently and slowly. Then they both look at Ron, who inhales deeply.
"BANANA!"
He shouted at the top of his lungs, the sign for Johnny and Billy to come in action. They heard him, and quickly open the door. The run inside on the moment Ron told Jamie and Lisa to run. Johnny sees Lisa and Jamie coming. Billy quickly takes Lisa outside, when Claire growls deeply and starts to curse. Ron sees her aiming the gun at Jamie.
"No!"
Ron quickly moves to Claire to stop her. Johnny sees her with the gun, he sees her aiming it at his brother, and on the moment she pulls the trigger, he grabs Jamie and turns around. The bullet hits Johnny in his back, Jamie sees Johnny's mouth going open, his breath choking and then he sags through his legs. Billy runs inside when he hears the shot, he sees Ron and Claire fighting. Ron knocks the gun out of her hand and tackles her.
Billy went to them and grabs Claire wrists. Ron looks at him and Billy looks at him. Ron turns and sees his son sagging down to the groudn while Jamie is holding him.
"No! Johnny!"
Claire is struggling hard while she is laughing. Ron went to his son and takes him over from Jamie while he starts to cry. He went to them and starts to cry. Johnny has lost conscious. Lisa was told by Billy to wait outside, but Jake sees her. The cops just arrived at the very moment. Lisa sees her father and runs to him.
"Dad!"
Dad grabs her tightly in his arms, crying a little form relieve. She let him go and he looks at her.
"Dad, someone got shot, please help."
Jake looks at her face, then he runs inside the building where the cops are approaching Billy and Claire, they cuff her and take her over from Billy. She looks at her sons and starts to cackle. Jake quickly went to Johnny and checks his pulls.
"At least my most disgusting son is dead! You watch out, Ron, I will get you!"
"Shut up."
A cop warns her and they push her to the door, she groans a little from the pain they inflicted on her arms as they have grabbed her tightly. Ron looks at Jake.
"He's still alive, call an ambulance."
Ron looks back at his son as he is still crying, he is so scared, he does not want to lose his son. Jake order Ron to keep Johnny on his arms because of the wound. Billy quickly calls an ambulance. A cop came to them and looks at the situation. Other cops are checking out the building for evidence, they took the gun, and the knives. Another is making pictures.
"Mr. Houseman?"
"That's me."
Jake looks at the cop.
"We would like to take your daughter to the station to ask her some questions."
"Can't you do that later?"
"She told us she wants to go with us, she has a lot of evidence to show us."
"Doesn't she want to be looked after? I would like to do a checkup on her first."
"I'm fine dad, really."
Jake looks at Lisa who came closer to the situation. She sees Johnny and sighs, then she looks at her father and gives him a kiss on his cheek.
"Will Johnny be alright?"
"I hope so, it doesn't look like the bullet has hit anything vital, but it needs to be removed."
"An ambulance is on the way."
They look at Billy and Jake gives him a thankful nod. He looks at the cop again.
"Will you bring my daughter to Kellerman's?"
"I can go with her."
Jake looks at Billy again, and gives him a nod. He looks back at Johnny, trying to stop the bleeding. Billy lays his hand on Ron's shoulder who looks up at his nephew with red eyes from the crying. Ron sees his nephew's tears and inhales deeply as he looks back at his son.
"Johnny will be alright, uncle, I'm sure."
"Thank you, Billy."
Billy looks at Jamie and gives him a nod, then he follows the cop outside with Lisa.
