XI.
This world is wrong.
This world is wrong, wrong wrong.
They're magical girls. If not magical, then special, then different. Kyubey's avoiding her this time. What's going on here? why… why is everything all wrong?
She can't even turn back and change it. Someday Madoka will… Madoka will… become a witch. And she can't change that fact.
"Akemi-san?"
Homura freezes and turns. She faces Madoka and that damnable ring around her finger.
"you're like us, aren't you?" she says.
She doesn't understand, how could she? she has to see this as a good thing. There's no way the Incubator would tell her the truth. It just wasn't possible.
Madoka doesn't get any closer, but she smiles, a soft, caged little thing that hurts to see now. She's already doomed and Homura can't escape it.
It takes Homura a few seconds too long to realize that Madoka is waiting for an answer. And it's an answer that Homura cannot give.
"i'm nothing like any of you," she says, because the truth is always safer than lying, than being the incubators.
But then, unlike them, she can run. And so she does.
