XIII.
Tomoe is as surface-level pleasant as always.
Homura knows, deep down, deep, deep down, that Mami is just a broken person pretending to be strong, but she's not special for that. Homura's done that since she was three years old taking Bayer for toddlers. She's not special for that.
She listens to her give her usual speech of camaraderie, teamwork, and sharing resources. She listens to the others cheer and support each other and feels violently ill. Homura contains it and keeps her hands folded in her lap. She doesn't take a cookie or sip any tea.
Finally, when Mami finished her speech, Homura takes a deep breath. It's a hopeless future. It's a hopeless ending. So if they don't believe her, it's not her fault. It's theirs.
She doesn't even know why she's going to bring it up. But what else is there, really?
"Walpurghisnacht, a deadly witch is coming to this city and it will lay everything to ruins."
