She loved astronomy, and everything about it. The way the stars twinkled and shone, and the way they glittered, contrasting the velvety darkness. And yet, she thought stepping out of the dojo closing the sliding door behind her, it seems as though they are the brightest only when it's cold out.
Sighing to herself, she sat down on a large rock that was placed near a leafy sakura tree. Though it was getting colder in these autumn months, the tree's flowers still blossomed into lovely white- pink petals. Kaoru pulled her robe closer to her arms as she felt a bitter wind flutter about, sending cascades of sakura petals from their homes in the trees, and into the star- strewn skies where they coursed to and fro at the will of the wind.
"What are you doing out here, Miss Kaoru?" a soft voice inquired. Kaoru whipped around, her black hair strewn across her shoulders. Brown eyes clashed with oceanic blue as Kaoru looked up to see her favorite red-headed swordsman walking towards her. She smiled at him and said:
"Oh, hi Kenshin. I was just looking at the stars."
"I see, but it's very cold out, that it is. Why don't you come in and observe the stars where it's warm?" Kaoru shook her head, turning her back to the swordsman, and said:
"It wouldn't be the same. When I was little, my father used to take me outside, and show me the stars all the time. We used to take measurements, and make predictions just like real astonomers. You know what's strange, though?" she asked, turning to face him once more, eyes sparkling. "Ever since the day my father died, there was a new star in the sky. I knew it had never been there before, because it never showed up in our charts… I used to think… that he had become a star too… do you think that's what happenes to people when they die?" Kenshin sat down next to her on the rock, and placed a warm arm around shoulders, and said:
"Miss Kaoru, I do not pretend to know the mysteries of life or where we go after it ends. But, if your theory about the stars is true, then you'd be the brightest star of them all."
Kaoru looked at him, tears forming near her eyes, smiled at him, and threw her arms around him, holding him tightly.
"You are my shining star, Kenshin. I'd be lost in the darkness of the night if it weren't for you." Kenshin smiled as he returned the embrace, now fully unaware of the cold chill of the autumn wind
A/N: so, yeah... that's it. plz forgive any grammar/spelling mistakes u might have noticed that i made (not on purpose). um... i think that's it... oh, one more thing- REVIEW PLZ!
