Awaken
'What happened?'
Henry could feel his strength returning to him, but when he tried to raise his arms. He could feel it restrained to something and this made him start to feel scared.
Before Henry could get up, a great amount of pain rushed into his mind. The pain was all over his body. He opened his eyes to see himself in a white room with a window.
Henry heard some beeping and turned to see some medical equipment reading his vitals. The young boy was very confused on where he was, the last thing he remembered was…
That fight with those armed men!
"Your awake."
The sudden voice caught Henry's attention; he turned his head to see a woman in a very skintight uniform that showed her…curves. Henry didn't blush right away, but Midnight was a very beautiful woman.
"Who…are you?" Henry asked.
"Call me Midnight," the UA teacher responded.
Henry tilted his head in confusion, "Your name is…Midnight?"
The teacher giggled and walked up close to the young boy. In her eyes, Henry was a good-looking boy, especially his amber eyes.
"That's my hero name."
"Hero name? So, its not your real name."
"No, it's not. I like to keep my identity a secret."
Henry was bewildered at the new information he learned from the older woman. There were other heroes? And why was he in some room with a beautiful woman? She didn't look like a nurse from those field hospitals.
But he had a mission to do still.
Henry slowly got up despite the pain he was in because he had to meet up with his comrades.
"What are you doing!?" Midnight yelled.
"I have to meet up with my company. They're probably waiting for me in Cambrai, can you help me get out of here and find him."
"No! you are still hurt! You need rest!"
Henry started to get a little frustrated by the beautiful woman, "Listen miss, you realize that there's a war going on? I got a job to do miss Midnight."
The young hero tried to break free but proved to no avail. Midnight was shocked at the way Henry spoke to her. He acted more like a grown up than a 16-year old child.
Midnight pressed her hand on Henry's chest, causing him to lay back down, "Henry, there's something you need to know."
Before Henry could speak, Midnight walked towards the door and opened it.
"He's awake guys," Midnight said to men waiting outside. Snipe, Present Mic, and All Might walked into the room to see the awakened boy. They all felt anxious and nervous because they were now going to talk to the first hero from the great war.
All four heroes readied themselves if Henry tried to fight or escape. Henry could feel the uneasiness in the air, it felt similar to going over the top in the trenches.
Snipe decided to break the silence, "It's good to see you awake Englander-san."
"You're the man from…the fight."
Snipe smiled under his mask, "Yes sir, it's an honor meeting you Englander."
Henry felt weirded out being called sir. What really confused him though, was the uniforms these people were wearing. At first, he thought they were soldiers like him but they didn't wear military uniforms.
They also had powers like him, he remembered Midnight using her quirk on him and the man who summoned an animal out of wood and attacked him.
A freaking gorilla made out of wood attacked him.
"Well…its nice meeting you all and thank you for taking care of my wounds. Now if you excuse me, I need to head to Cambrai. My company is-"
"Your already in Cambrai," Mic told the young boy.
Henry immediately seized his movement and looked at the four individuals in shock. How could this be Cambrai!? The Cambrai Henry knew was filled with Germans, field guns, and even tanks.
Now that he thought about it, where are the tanks? There should be around 300 tanks coming through here.
"Impossible, Cambrai is nothing but ruins crawling with Germans," Henry told the heroes. The heroes looked at each other with a concerned and sad faces, they were going to have to tell him the truth.
Snipe walked up to the boy who was feeling confused and could sense a hint of fear on him.
"Engla-Henry, what year do you think it is?" Snipe asked Henry.
"1918, why do you ask?"
All Might put his hand on Snipe's shoulder because he wanted to be the one to break the news. Snipe understood and got out of the chair for All Might to sit on.
The number one hero sat next to Henry who looked at him, anxious to learn the truth, "Young man, the war you were fighting… is over."
…
"What?"
"Henry, it's been over 100 years since the war the Germans lost and the allied powers won," at that moment Henry was shocked, he looked at the other heroes to see them looking at him with sadness.
Henry didn't know what to feel, he was glad that the war was over. But he's been gone for over 100 years and his family…
His family must have thought he had died in the line of duty. Henry had some tears falling from his cheeks, he was never going to see his family again.
But he didn't believe what All Might said, so he decided to do something.
"Then prove it Mr…"
"All Might, my hero name is All Might," All Might told the young boy.
"All Might, prove me that it's the future because I am pretty miffed right now."
All Might looked back to the other heroes to see them nodding their heads. Present Mic and Midnight walked up to the hospital bed and released Henry from his cuffs.
Henry massaged his wrists because they were bruised from trying to break free earlier. He got up but soon wobbled around trying to find his balance, Midnight rushed to his side and held him so he didn't fall.
The young boy looked at her and gave her a smile, "Thank you Midnight."
The older woman smiled, "Your welcome Henry."
Her voice put the shaken boy at ease. She led him to the window to reveal the city today, Present Mic and Snipe opened up the blinds with the bright light shining in the room.
Henry covered his eyes from the sunlight, but when he saw what was beyond the window. He immediately rushed to it and looked at the new surroundings outside the window.
Outside was filled with buildings with signs that Henry didn't recognize, people walking on the sidewalks and families going to shops to eat or buy things, and finally he looked up to the air to see a jet airliner flying high above.
The young boy was stunned at the surroundings that he was looking at. This was way different than the Cambrai he remembered. Midnight and the other heroes looked at him with happy smiles.
Henry couldn't believe what he was looking at, he backed away shocked by the new information he had been given. He started to breathe erratically at the thought of his family and friends.
The three heroes notice this and rushed to Henry's side and held him up. He fell to the floor butt first and trying calm himself down, he then started to cry his eyes out as Midnight took him in a tight hug.
"It's ok, it's ok," Midnight rubbed the boy's back to try and calm him down from his breakdown. The three heroes felt saddened by the boy, to find out that you've been gone for over 100 years in terrible.
Everyone he once knew was gone.
Henry embraced Midnight and cried his eyes out. The war and fighting were over, but the memories of the dead and destruction still remained.
The next half hour was filled with pain and grief.
After Henry's sudden breakdown, the doctor and nurse went into the room and getting him ready to go back into the world. They applied the last remaining medication into his body and some stitches.
What shocked the doctor and nurse was the big burn scar on the boy's body. They wanted to learn where it came from but Henry quickly shot down the discussion.
All Might, Snipe, Present Mic, and Midnight waited outside the room talking among themselves, "Is it wise to show him the memorial? What if he loses it again!? He doesn't deserve to be in pain anymore," Present Mic told his fellow heroes.
"Mic, he deserves to see it. Those buried in that memorial are his fellow comrades that died during the battle of Cambrai," Snipe told Mic.
"Yes, it will bring a sense of…closure to the boy," All Might added.
Midnight understood where All Might was coming from. All of a sudden, the door opened revealing Henry in his gear. He refused to wear any other clothes, without his gear made him feel nervous.
"Well I'm all set, but I need to know where my weapons are?"
"Oh ya, um…just want tell you that your weapons were transported back to the Jet," Present Mic said.
Henry widened his eyes and rushed towards the voice hero, grabbing his clothes to bring him to Henry's level.
"You did what!?"
All Might pulled Henry away from Present Mic to explain, "The reason your weapons were taken away was because the police feared you with them. Some of them saw how you shot some of those armed men and didn't want you to disturb the peace."
Henry was about to retort back but looked down feeling he might have scared those officers, "I see…"
Midnight decided to give Henry some positive feedback, "Hey it's ok, if it wasn't for you. Those people would have been hurt and DD would have killed young Yaoyorozu."
Henry looked up and gave the older a weak smile, "Wait, the beautiful Japanese girl that was about to get shot in the head."
"Yes, her family wanted to thank you personally once your all settled down."
"Are you taking me back to England?" Henry asked.
Midnight and All Might looked at each other knowing that wasn't going to happen. Before they left Japan, principal Nezu told them that Henry could not return to England for some reason.
Once they returned to Japan principal Nezu will tell Henry the reason why.
"Well, my boss wants to meet you to talk about your return to England," Midnight told the young boy.
"Ok…so where are we going again?" Henry asked.
Snipe walked up to the boy and gave him a stern expression, "The cemetery."
Thanks to the heroes and police, they were able to block the crowd of reporters that wanted to get a word out of the young boy.
This caused Henry to hide behind the heroes, scared from the sudden attention to him. Once they drove away from the hospital in a limousine, they made their way to the memorial and cemetery.
Henry couldn't stop looking out of the window. All around was buildings filled with people enjoying their day with food or buying things. Children playing around in the playground with their mothers and fathers watching them.
What really made his day was the limousine itself, the seats were comfortable and had windows that rolled down! The future was really awesome, a lot better than the Rolls Royce he used to ride in during the war.
As he looked at the people that filled the sidewalks of Cambrai. He noticed the type of clothes they were wearing; the men wore colored shirts with something on it with pants that were tight or baggy instead of formal suits.
The woman on the other hand made him blush. Gone with the dresses that covered their legs, were now replaced with tight pants show their curves or shorts that displayed their nice toned legs. They wore a wide variety of tops like tight shirts, loose tank tops or crop tops.
Midnight notice this and smirked. She decided this was the perfect time to have a little fun with the boy.
"You're a naughty boy, aren't you? Looking at Woman's tight clothes?" Midnight said near Henry's ear.
The young boy turned to her with a blush before turning away trying to cover his face. The female hero giggled, she always enjoyed teasing the young boys because of the way they reacted towards her.
Henry found the courage to look back at the teacher with a much more confident face, "Why yes Midnight I am a naughty boy. I also like my woman older and experienced."
This caused Midnight to retreat back a little from Henry's sudden change in behavior. It even caused her to actually…blush from the comment.
Snipe and Mic looked at each other feeling awkward at Midnight's and Henry's teasing. All Might head had some sweat but also chuckled at Henry's comeback.
"We're here," the driver of the Limousine said.
The heroes exited out of the vehicle with Henry following behind. When he stepped out, he immediately saw the memorial, his whole body shivered in dread and had a cold feeling take over his body.
Henry walked slowly into the memorial and the heroes watched from afar. They wanted to give the young boy some time alone to say a couple of words.
"Midnight, I think you should go with him if he needs someone to talk to."
Midnight nodded and walked slowly behind the boy.
Henry walked over to the statue of himself and looked at with confusion. He didn't understand why people considered him a hero, sure he saved soldiers from the battlefield, broken through the German lines, and even send messages from one company to another.
But that was his duty as a soldier, for king and country! The real heroes are the ones that died on the battlefield and now buried in the land. He moved away from statue and head towards the grave yard.
Rows upon rows of gravestones filled the field. All those soldiers that he fought were young boys like him, young and naïve. Some of them didn't even get to fight because they die from diseases or enemy artillery.
Henry eventually found a bench to sit on, he started to tear up as he observed the whole cemetery. He squeezed his arms together, his breathing increased erratically causing him to hyperventilate
"Henry?"
The young soldier turned around to see Midnight standing a few meters away. Henry could see the gloomy face on the hero which caused him to look away.
Midnight sat next to the boy, she slowly moved hand forward towards Henry's shoulder wanting to turn him around.
Before she could do it, Henry turned her around and put his head into her chest and cried softly. Midnight immediately hugged the young boy. She was heartbroken at the sight of Henry's breakdown.
"The war is really over?" Henry said in disbelief.
"Yes, but the scars of the war and the technologies have evolved over time. There were many wars after the great war, all terrible in their own ways. But once quirks showed up wars became history while hero's vs villains became the popular subject to learn about."
Henry looked at the older woman with a hint of irritation. How could people focus on something childish like superheroes than learning about the war and the sacrifices those soldiers did.
"But that doesn't mean you were forgotten, your legend lived on from the soldiers that you served with. They told stories about you and the heroic actions you did during the war."
The young soldiers head faced down not wanting to look at Midnight. He didn't want Midnight to see his angered face.
"Henry…"
The young boy turned towards Midnight, "I want to let you know that there are still people alive from the great war. But, some of them are old and suffer from different sicknesses."
'Others? Could my friends be alive?' The thought of his comrades being alive brought some hope to his soul.
Henry decided it was time for him to leave before he could no longer move from the amount of pain he was feeling.
"Midnight, I would like to go now."
"I understand Henry, we'll head back to the limousine and head to the airport."
Henry and Midnight walked together in silence. The older hero didn't know what to say to the young boy and feared that it she spoke to him; it would only make it worse.
"Finally heading back home, can't wait to sleep on my bed and rest," said Present Mic as he laid back on the reclining chair.
Snipe chuckled as he read a book on pistol accuracy, especially the chapters on revolvers. Midnight sat in front of him as she watched Henry talking to All Might.
"So, wait… your quirk allows you to transform into a huge buff guy with enormous strength?"
"Not exactly, something happened a while back that caused me to be in this form. I could only be in my buff form for three hours," All Might told Henry, he could see the horror on his face.
"I'm sorry to hear that," Henry told All Might.
"But that won't stop me, I am the symbol of peace and justice. My power maybe declining but I will always be there for the innocent and protect them from danger."
Henry looked at the man in awe, such determination in the man's words and tone brought a feeling of inspiration to Henry. Even during the war, people still looked at him like a hero.
"You know All Might, you remind me a lot like my captain of my company."
All Might was taken aback, "Oh? Was he someone you looked up to?"
Midnight, Snipe, and Present Mic all listened in on the conversation wanting to learn some new information about the young boy first hand.
"In a way he was like my mentor, he taught me how to be a better soldier. He was also the one who supported me when I revealed my powers on the battlefield. Some were amazed by my quirk while others feared me, some of them were so scared they even tried to kill me. Brothers in arms am I right?" Henry chuckled.
All Might frowned, that the ones Henry called friends even comrades. Would turn on him because he had a quirk. What All Might did understand was the time Henry lived in, the strongest kind of fear was the unknown.
"I feared my quirk, I feared that if I used my quirk people would think differently of me. They would call me a demon for having these powers, but I just couldn't stand by and not use it."
"So that's when you decided to use your quirk for the war against Germany?" All Might questioned.
"Yes, I guess that is when people started considering me as a hero," Henry had an uneasy look as he said the word hero. All Might noticed this and thought of something to say to the young boy.
"Henry, you may not think of yourself as a hero because of the things you did in the war. But you can't change the fact that you used your quirk for good; you became a symbol of hope to your fellow comrades and innocent people all around, you were the light that shined through the darkness and brought hope to those people."
Henry looked up at him shocked at the older man's kind and encouraging words. The young boy smiled as he felt a warm feeling to his heart. The only other person that was similar to All Might was his father and Captain James Buford of Company C in the 8th ID.
Being thanked like this brought a wide grin on his face, "Thank you All Might. Your words give me great happiness to my soul, from one symbol to another."
Henry put his hand out for All Might to shake. All Might stared at it for a few seconds feeling nervous. He was about to shake Englander's hand, the first quirk user and hero of all time. You could say that All Might was a fanboy of Englander from the way he acted.
"It's an honor Engl-Henry."
Midnight, Snipe, and Present Mic smiled at the pleasing chat. Two symbols of different times were sitting face to face thanking each other. This would be a sight to see for All Might and Englander fan boys.
Midnight was about to turn away when she noticed Snipe having a sparkle in his eyes. The revolver wielding noticed the older woman and turned away to hide his face.
*Shake! *
The plane shook abruptly causing the passengers to panic. Henry gripped the seats hard and started to sweat bullets. The plane immediately leveled out making all the heroes feel relieved.
"I thought these jets was suppose to be safe All Might! At least I'm glad I'm not honking all over the damn plane!"
All Might laughed which caused Henry to slowly laugh with him. Midnight smiled seeing the young boy grinning. After everything he's been through, he deserved to be happy.
"Hey, are you sure you don't want to hang out with the girls today?" said a young Japanese girl.
The girl she was talking to had the same uniform as her, but the only difference was her looks. She had pink skin with small horns on her head, her eyes were black and had light yellow irises. She also had long eyelashes.
"Not today sorry! I got to study tonight for the test tomorrow," the pink girl happily said.
"Ok, bye Mina! See you tomorrow!" the girl yelled out as she ran towards the group of girls.
Mina Ashido waved her hand with a wide grin, "Bye bye!
Studying for the test wasn't the only reason why she wanted to get home. Mina wanted to get home to watch the news coverage on the English hero: Englander!
As she walked with a happy smile, she noticed a couple of young kids playing at the playground. They wore capes and masks and other costumes, it looked like they were playing heroes.
She recognized one of the kids wearing a noticeable helmet with a handkerchief as a mask. Mina could only think of one hero that wore that type of helmet.
"Oh no! It's the English hero Englander!" said one Japanese boy with a villain looking outfit.
The kid posing as Englander stood in a heroic stance with determination in his eyes, "You are correct villain! I am here to put you behind bars!"
The kids played around in a positive mood, enjoying their time together. Mina left the kids alone and put her earbuds into ear to listen to some music.
Her stroll to her home was soon interrupted when she saw live news on the big screen on a building.
"About 30 minutes ago, pro heroes All Might, Midnight, Snipe, and Present Mic arrived in Japan at the Musutafu airport. With them was the one and only Henry Clarke or famously known as Englander."
The screen changed from the male reporter to the heroes walking through the terminal with police around them. Behind the heroes was Henry walking slowly behind them. He wore his great war uniform and waved his hand to the photographers giving them some pictures to sell and post online.
"Nothing is known so far as to why Englander is in Japan. No further information has been given, but many speculate that he may be going to UA high."
Mina gasped and smiled widely at learning about this, "He's actually here! Oh man it would be so cool to get a picture with him, even an autograph would be awesome."
A Japanese man that had a head of a squid noticed her, "I know what type of girl you are! You're a fangirl, aren't you?"
The pink skinned girl blushed feeling embarrassed at the man noticing her fangirling over Henry.
She too was one of the few that were amazed by the history of the old hero. He was like Captain America, but British!
Mina looked at her phone to notice the time, "Crap! I better get home before mom starts getting worried!"
The pink girl jogged away from the tv not noticing a black limousine that had a familiar looking soldier near the window.
Henry stepped out of the limousine and couldn't believe what he was seeing. A huge building shaped like an H with mirrors that reflected the blue sky.
The sun was nearing its end and soon it will be dark. Henry followed Midnight and the other heroes into the entrance of the school. Waiting at the front of the academy was none other than principal Nezu.
He happily stood there with a smile on his face, "I'm glad to see you all well, how was your time in France?"
Snipe sighed feeling tired, "It was nice and all but…Henry here had a nightmare and caused quite a stir."
Henry looked down feeling disappointed about himself. The dream felt so real, he placed his hand on his left chest area where the burns was located.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to harm anyone. I hope you all could forgive me."
All Might in his deflated form laughed, "Ha ha, its alright young Henry. You were just scared and in combat mode. It's understandable."
"Thank you All Might," Henry happily said with a smile causing the number one hero smile too. Principal Nezu walked up to the young boy who had a fear-stricken face.
Midnight told young Henry that the principal had animal like features. More like entirely formed into a human mouse hybrid, but in a way.
Henry found the short principal to be adorable like a puppy.
"Its nice to finally meet you Henry, I take it you are surprised to see me?" Principal happily said.
"It is nice to meet you…sir. I mean your animal like appearance doesn't really faze me because I just saw a girl with pink skin and horns! Freaking horns! And might I say that the jet you made me ride in was shaking, I thought planes improved from the war!"
The group of heroes were laughing and giggling at the boy's sudden outburst of fear. It would take a lot of explaining to Henry about the new world he was in.
"Well young man I'm glad you're here. We can now discuss about your return into the world," principal Nezu said to Henry. He turned to the other heroes to speak to them.
"Thank you for getting Henry to Japan. All Might, Snipe, Present Mic, you three could head back home and rest. You deserve it."
Nezu then turned to Midnight, "Midnight I need you to stay here at the academy after I'm done talking with Henry.
"Yes principal."
"Henry, follow me to my office," the short principal said to the young man. Henry happily followed Nezu with Midnight slowly following behind.
"Midnight? Could you stay outside while me and Henry talk?"
"Yes, principal Nezu," Midnight sat on a chair outside of the principal's office. Before Henry could go in, he waved goodbye to Midnight who happily returned the gesture.
Once Henry entered the office, Nezu led him to the sofa. The short principal walked up to what looked like a tea pot on top of a stove.
"Tea?" Nezu asked Henry.
"No thanks," Henry walked over to the couch and sat on it noticing how soft the chair felt. He hadn't sat on anything like this for years.
Principal Nezu walked up to the comfy chair in front of Henry and place his tea on the table next to it. Nezu sat on the big chair with a happy smile and started the conversation.
"A lot had changed since you disappeared from the world," Nezu took a sip of tea.
"How was the world after I was gone?"
Nezu placed his cup of tea on the table next to him, "The world continued, there was a second world war that almost brought the destruction of the world. Quirks began to show up years after those wars and now 80% of the worlds population has some sort of quirk."
"A second war?" Henry questioned. Nezu's face saddened which gave the young soldier an idea on how bad this war was.
"Yes, after the end of the first world war. Germany was in shambles; their economy was destroyed and they had to pay for all the damages they had done during the great war. Your legend lived on in Great Britain and helped inspire the people of England to keep fighting against the tyranny of the Nazi regime."
Henry face hardened at the thought of the second war. The first had already killed a lot of people and some of them were his friends he had fought along with. People like his brother.
How could Germany declare another war after they had just lost. Henry didn't like the idea of Germany invading his homeland, if he was still around that time. He would fight these Nazis and kill them if they even set foot on his country to cause harm to English people.
"It really is hard to believe that I'm not the only person to have a quirk. For as long as I can remember I was the only one with a quirk."
Nezu chuckled, "You're not alone anymore Henry. When quirks started to show up governments from around the world tried to make laws to prevent their use, but people started to use their quirks for good. This caused the rise of heroes."
"But I'm guessing there are other quirk users that didn't use their powers for good?" Henry asked.
"Yes, while heroes use their powers for good. Others would use their powers for evil and destruction, they are known as villains or just criminals. They cause harm to innocent people and bring destruction in their way."
Henry frowned at the thought of those villains hurting civilians. Even before he joined the war, he used his quirk to stop criminal activity in his small town. His brother was proud of him for using it for good.
But Henry's parents always scolded him, fearing that if people found out about his quirk. He would be killed out of fear.
"Sir…Midnight told me you wanted to speak to me about returning me to England? Is something wrong sir?" the young soldier asked.
Nezu's smile disappeared and was replaced with a sad one, "Henry, I want you to know that the staff of UA high are here to help you."
Henry tilted his head in confusion, not understanding what the principal meant by that statement.
"You can't go back to England."
…
…
…
Henry's face suddenly changed from confusion to distraught. He started to breath rapidly with his hands shaking out of anger.
"What?" Henry asked in a low painful tone.
"While the queen of England wants you to come back home. Many people in Her Majesty's Government believe that you are a danger. Your fight at the hostage situation in Cambrai has caused quite a stir in the government. The majority of the people in the government don't want you because they see you as a threat, to them you are a symbol of death and destruction, a relic that should be forgotten."
Henry's anger started to boil and rise causing him to stand up and walk away towards the office window. He gently places his hand on the window not wanting to break it.
"I fought and served for my country. I swore and oath that I would fight and defend England from its enemies. But this is how they see me now? A cold-blooded killer? After everything I did, they throw me away like trash."
"Bastards…"
Once Henry turned around, Nezu could see the heartbroken face and the red puffy eyes on the young boy. Nezu wanted to make the boy feel happy again, but he knew that couldn't happen right now.
"What will happen now?" Henry asked Nezu.
Nezu sighed, "Now you will be under my care. The school will be your new home for now until England's government will allow you back in the country. I'm so sorry that had to be this way Henry, you don't deserve this type of treatment. You deserve a hero's welcome back to England."
Henry's angered face softened; the principal's words brought a sense of harmony to the poor boy's heart.
"Thank you principal Nezu, I am in your debt," Henry did a bow out of respect. Nezu's smile returned which cause him to jump out of his chair and move towards the boy.
"There is no need for thanks, a hero always helps those in need."
The young soldier felt happy by the man's willingness to help. But Henry still was saddened by the fact that he would not be able to return back to England.
"Where will I be sleeping?" Henry asked.
"You will be sleeping at the dorms. You will find it very comfortable and nice for you to sleep. Me and Midnight will take you," Nezu told the boy with a thrilled tone.
Nezu walked to the door to open it, revealing Midnight standing right in front of it. She quickly backed away fearing that the principal would know what she was doing.
"Principal-"
"I will discuss it with you and the other teachers tomorrow."
"But-"
"Tomorrow," Nezu said with a more serious tone. Midnight sighed and dropped the conversation; she would have to wait to tomorrow to discuss about Henry's 'situation'.
Nezu turned to Henry, "Now, let us go to the dorms and show you your room."
"Lead the way," Nezu and Midnight in front while Henry walked behind them. As he walked, he couldn't get rid of the pain in his chest. This made Henry feel a lot more frustrated and miserable in the situation he was in.
He loved his country, but he felt betrayed by the government and wanted to just ask them why they would do such a thing.
"This is where you will be staying in!" Nezu said as Midnight opened the door. The room revealed to have a bed with a work table and chair for studying.
Henry had his equipment, placed them down next to the bed and began take off the rest of his gear. He took out his webbing and then unwrapped his puttees from his legs.
"It's…nice."
Midnight feeling happy for the boy's positive expression, "Don't you worry Henry, this room belongs to you for now until you return back to England. I hope you enjoy your new home."
Henry happily grinned at Midnights encouraging words. He walked over to the bed and felt the soft cloth of the blanket.
"Home…"
For three years he slept in the muddy trenches on the western front. There would be times where he was transferred to different places to help with the war effort. Whether fighting at the battle of Verdun or fighting in the muddy fields of Passchendaele.
He was there to help out his brother in arms when they needed him. Henry hoped that this new era of heroes would bring him peace to his life and new meaning to him.
"Is there anyway I could thank you two?"
Principal Nezu and Midnight looked at each other thinking what Henry could do. That is when Nezu had an idea pop into his head and turned to the young boy with a wide grin.
"You can accompany Midnight to the mall to help you decorate your room!"
"Wait what!?" Midnight said in confusion. Nezu motioned her to come down to his level and talk quietly.
"Midnight, Henry has no absolute idea how society works now. I want you to help him see the new things that this new world has to offer. C'mon it will be fun for him and you. Remember he's still a kid."
Midnight looked to the boy to see him taking out his supplies and things he kept in his backpack. She could see how gloomy he was, Midnight then made up her mind.
"Ok, I'll take him shopping for somethings for his room tomorrow. But we still need to discuss about Henry's future."
Nezu went on his tippy toes and patted Midnights shoulder, "Don't worry Midnight, I will discuss the problems Henry is facing soon."
"Thank you, principal," Midnight said happily.
Henry walked up, causing the two to face him, "It will be nice to go with miss Midnight. She is a wonderful woman to be around."
Midnight faintly blushed which went unnoticed by the two men, "Oh stop it, your making me feel all warm inside."
"Then it is settled. Me and Midnight will leave you be. It's already night time so get some rest for tomorrow," Nezu told Henry as he climbed up on Midnights shoulders.
The older woman didn't mind man on her shoulders but always annoyed her when Nezu played with her hair. Henry weakly smiled at the two heroes that made him feel at home.
"Goodnight Henry," Midnight told Henry.
"You too Midnight, I look forward to tomorrow."
With their conversation done. Both UA teachers walked out of the room leaving Henry to finish up with unpacking. He took out a notebook his mother sent to him while he was in the war, a shaving kit given to him by his father.
Henry eventually took out a personal item that made his chest tighten and his eyes watery.
In his hands was a dog tag with name of the person he looked up to.
Danny Clarke.
Henry's older brother and person who inspired him to use his quirk for good. He was young lieutenant who also fought in the war but died during the line of duty. Danny was part of a campaign that would result in utter defeat and kill many soldiers.
'I wish you were here big bro…'
The young Clarke put the dog tag in his notebook and placed it in one of the many drawers of the table.
As he finished up, he saw a knife that made his blood run cold and put fear in his heart. In his hands was a German Mauser 98k bayonet with words engraved on the blade.
Das Wolfsmesser
Henry immediately rushed to the sliding closest and threw the bayonet in there. Now wanting to see it or hold it. That blade belonged to a killer, someone truly evil.
A man nicknamed.
Der Wolf
The young soldier's hand started to shake out of fear which made Henry rush to the bathroom. He washed his hands vigorously feeling dirty from the blade and splashed water on his face to calm down.
Henry took off all his clothes and got into a tank top that was given to him by the school and wore some white underwear. He turned off the lamp next to his bed and laid himself down to sleep.
Minutes pass and Henry was still unable to go to sleep. Somehow it didn't feel comfortable to sleep on the bed, it made him toss and turn.
He eventually got up and placed his blanket and pillow on the floor. Once he laid down, he felt comfortable and at peace. Its been so long since Henry even slept on a bed.
Henry slowly dozed off to sleep thinking about his family and friends. He feared that many of them were long gone, he wanted to see his mother and father again and give a big long hug.
But now they were gone. Henry cried a little the more he thought about them, he would never be able to see them ever again.
On the first night of UA, he would have the worst dream of his life.
Hello my fellow readers, it is I Jobro89! I hope you enjoyed this chapter of Englander and stay to read more.
So far, I am enjoying writing this story because I like WW1 history and I love my hero academia. Two things put into one equals an awesome story for me to write.
College has begun which will prevent me from working on my stories. It will probably take longer for the chapters to be uploaded because of my classes.
I will write one more chapter for this story before going back to Rendezvous with Destiny. That story is still going and will keep going until I finish it.
To all my fellow Americans, I hope you all stay safe from the riots. I don't want anyone to get hurt because of it.
Read and Review is always helpful because it helps improve myself as a writer. Your feedback is always helpful to me.
This is Jobro89, signing off.
