AN: This is a very abrupt ending to this story, I know. I lost the thread to this a very long time ago and was never able to feel it again so I am doing the ending this way and if I ever feel the connection again I have left room to be able to add occasionally to it as a one shot kind of deal. I am sorry for how I wrapped it up because it wasn't meant to end this way but so many people have invested in this story and asked for more and this is the compromise my brain came up with. Sorry again for everyone who is disappointed. I was too but I figured it's better to have an end than to be left hanging.
The group that is caught in this chapter is definitely the same that was always going to be the case and the one who caught them, this was always going to be how it ended but after more story. I just cut out many months of awkward, clumsy stalking harassment of Hermione and the one who ended it.
Hermione couldn't keep the blissful smile off her face while getting ready for her day, a busy day at that. She thought she would feel different this morning after waking up with Charlie and she did, just not in the ways she expected.
She wondered if it was normal that she still felt like he was holding and touching her or if that was a mate thing. Whatever the answer, she was loving the feeling and looking forward to many similar nights once she recovered from the very active night, especially as it was her first experience.
Charlie was so gentle with her that first time and in complete control. After that though, like Fleur warned, he was a touch less controlled and this morning he made sure to tell her he was sorry for that bit but she loved it and shut him up and gave him more pleasurable things to concentrate on.
She sighed as she left the bathroom and headed down to the kitchen for breakfast. She and Charlie decided to confront her parents and Molly with the decision they had made that they wouldn't be parted, especially considering they had figured out after their night together that it was more that they couldn't be parted for long so there was no way they would be sleeping apart from now on.
She wasn't surprised then when she heard voices before she entered the room, however, she was surprised to see Kingsley and Harry sitting there so early and with happy and excited eyes.
"'Mione! We have news!" Harry cried out when he saw her.
"I can tell." She laughed and sat down. "What's up?"
"I am happy to report your stalkers are all sitting in a Ministry holding cell, after being caught in the act and confessing the whole tale." Kingsley reported proudly.
"What?!" She gasped.
"Turns out you were never really in any danger. They just wanted to harass you a bit for revenge of sorts. They only really wanted to cause trouble for one of four people and when they showed up to attack the one they were after they discounted how fierce he would be." Harry snorted.
"Who were they?" she asked.
Kingsley sighed tiredly at this. "It's very juvenile in the end. Mia, it was the entirety of Ravenclaw your year with the exception of Padma Patil. A few from the year ahead of you too. This was all about schoolyard rivalry, as I said it is juvenile. They were just waiting for the war to be over to enact their plan, hoping the fighting and Voldemort would take care of the other three as they are all Slytherins and were assumed to be right in his inner circle."
"They resented that all their hard work and sacrifice was always for not, that the top four spots academically went to a Gryffindor followed by three Slytherin. They felt that they weren't living up to their house's standards and blamed the four of you. Plus Miss Edgecombe felt she had a bit of extra reason where you were concerned." He said with a smile.
Harry outright laughed at that one.
"You can tell Marietta that there is a cure, although I'm not really sure she will receive relief. She has to feel true regret for turning on her friends and allies, only that will erase her face!" Hermione pointed out to Kingsley, truly hoping it would fix the girl's face.
"I will pass that along. As I said, they really would not have hurt you, they just wanted to scare you a bit and cause the stress they did. It was Draco Malfoy they wanted to hurt, Theo Nott and Blaise Zabini were intended to feel the pressure you did." Kingsley told her.
"Bloody idiots if you ask me. I may not be Malfoy's biggest fan but even I know he's gifted and powerful. They never stood a chance. Six of them caught him last night, and kidnapped him, disarmed him and set about telling him the entire story. After they were finished he casually mentioned that they were idiots, that they should have taken wandless, nonverbal magic into consideration and had them all stunned and bound in a heartbeat. He contacted me directly and waited for us to arrive and take them away."
Harry outright laughed at this, picturing the bored expression on Draco Malfoy's face as the Ravenclaw's told their tale.
"This is stupidly idiotic Kingsley." Hermione huffed. She was pissed off that all these restrictions were down to immature idiots who were jealous that other people had brains and intellect. "I don't understand why they were even upset , we did well in school."
"Well that part of the story is really down to you and Mr. Nott according to the story. Apparently you and he at separate times mentioned that you were both nearly sorted into Ravenclaw, and he outright told them he asked for Slytherin so they assumed you asked for Gryffindor instead of choosing to go where you belonged. The choice you made being the mistake you needed to pay for." Kingsley added while shaking his head again.
"I did not ask for Gryffindor! I honestly asked for Hufflepuff if I'm being honest but the hat ignored me. I never had friends before Hogwarts and I had read they were the house with the nice, friendly people and I was so over bullies. This is utterly ridiculous! And I am forever grateful the hat put me where I belonged instead of listening to me anyways." Hermione explained.
Harry just reached out and took her hand while smiling. "At least it's truly over now 'Mione, we're really free again."
She smiled back at him in relief that he was right.
"Well, I will take my leave and head to work. You will receive a summons when the trials begin but this won't be long sentences for most of them. The kidnapping and stalking being the worst of the crimes and only six took part in the actual attack on Draco so the rest probably won't see prison, just community service. But be prepared anyway." Kingsley told her and then left.
Hermione felt relieved it was over but angry that it happened to begin with. The war should have made them grow up more than this.
"You realize Harry, I thought most of those people were our friends?" She said, a little sad at that thought.
"I know."
She sighed again but smiled as she saw Charlie enter the room smiling and peaceful. She got up and jumped in his arms right away.
"It's over Charlie, they caught them and no more being locked up for safety!" She smiled at him and kissed him quickly.
