I don't own KHR.
Lambo held his bottle with both hands as he contentedly drank his milk. Which, for some reason, tasted better than usual. The baby wondered if it was somehow because of the big, warm place they were in, but he couldn't be sure. Not that he really cared in the end.
As long as the milk was good, he was happy.
"So...you're saying that our best window for escaping is within a week?" Kyo asked with a slight frown on his face. That was normal for Kyo though, so Lambo just kept chugging away without a care in the world.
"Exactly," Muku confirmed with a firm nod and with a big smile. Lambo was glad, Muku had been frowning too much lately.
"But...what if Hayato and Ryohei aren't better by then?" Tsu asked, sounding worried. Lambo stopped drinking his milk for a moment as he looked at his big brother. It was also normal for Tsu to be worried but that didn't mean he had to like it.
Especially when Lambo still remembered clearly when Tsu had fallen asleep and didn't wake back up despite how much Lambo had said his name.
"Don't worry about us Tsuna," Haya assured their brother with a smile. Lambo scrunched his face as he tried to remember the last time Haya had held him.
"Yeah, both of us are recovering extremely well. Knuckle said so himself," Ryo added with his normal happy smile as his hands turned into fists. "So we should extremely be healthy enough to run away in a week!"
Lambo's green eyes widened when he realized that the last time Haya had held him was before he and Ome had left the cave. And that was a long time ago.
This wouldn't do.
"While we can't rely on Knuckle to be honest, I...admit that he probably is telling the truth in this case," Muku admitted as Lambo got off of Ome's lap and started to crawl to Haya.
"...Alright," Tsuna responded, not sounding nearly as worried as before which was good. Lambo then reached Haya and instantly climbed into his lap. He hadn't received a hug from him in forever so Lambo defnitely wasn't going to take no for an answer today.
He missed him.
"Oh Lambo," Take said in an almost sad tone as he reached his long arms for Lambo. "Sorry buddy, but I don't-"
"It's okay," Haya quickly interrupted as he wrapped his arms around the baby and gently pulled him closer. "It's not like I'm carrying him or anything like that. I'm just going to hold him on my lap."
"Oh...okay," Take replied as he pulled his arms back while Lambo snuggled against Hayato's chest. Lambo smiled and let out an contented sound before he put the nozzle of the bottle back into his mouth and drank his milk as his siblings continued to talk.
Then, right as Lambo finished his bottle, he heard a knocking sound quickly followed by the sound of the door opening.
"Hello," the pretty lady from before greeted them as she walked into the room. "How are you kids doing?"
"We're fine," Lambo heard Kyo reply in an unfriendly tone. Lambo then crawled off of Haya's lap with the intention to see the blonde lady up close. He tried to go to her earlier but Muku had stopped him. Lambo wasn't sure why because the lady was very pretty and had a very nice smile, the complete opposite from the man with the black hat that took him away from Take.
That man was mean and horrible.
"Oh, that's good to hear," she responded as Lambo carefully got to his feet, leaving his empty bottle on the ground. When he felt more or less steady on his feet, he took a step towards the pretty lady. "Now, I was wondering if there was anything special you guys would like for lunch."
"Oh...um...it's okay, we're not picky," Ome said softly as Lambo took another step. Then suddenly, Elena walked past him and towards his big sister.
"Oh nonsense!" the lady cried. "I mean, it's fantastic that you're not picky but surely you guys have some favorite foods!"
Lambo pouted a little at the fact that she just walked by him but he didn't let himself be upset for long. He could just turn around and try again after all.
The one-year-old was about to do just that when he noticed something. Something that really exciting, more exciting than meeting a pretty lady for the first time.
The door was still open.
In other words, he could explore.
"And if you're afraid that you would be an inconvenience, don't be," Lambo heard the lady explain as he walked as fast as he could towards the door. "The cooks here are used to taking last minute orders, trust me. And worst case scenario, I can help cook."
Lambo giggled when he reached the door. He couldn't help it. This place was much, much bigger than the cave, a place that Lambo had explored many times ever since he could move. He already knew that he was going to have a lot of fun exploring this new place.
And besides, Lambo liked to laugh.
So with a big grin on his face, Lambo walked out of the room and into the very long hall. For a second, he just stood there as he looked around him, deciding which way to go first. Then the second was over and Lambo decided to go right. Lambo let out another giggle as he tottered quickly down the hallway, his green eyes roaming all around him as he did so. And better yet, there wasn't any sounds of his siblings running after him either.
He was free!
Then suddenly, Lambo tripped over a little raise in the carpet and fell down. Right on his little nose.
Lambo whimpered a little from the pain as his eyes started to fill up with tears. His nose! It hurts!
But, before he could start to really cry, he was lifted up off the ground. The next thing he knew, he was face to face with a man with green hair.
"Please don't cry, they will blame me for making you cry if you do!" pleaded the green-haired man with a scared glint in his eyes. Lambo immediately stopped whimering, though not because he understood what the man said.
It was because he was entranced by the man's strange but fun hair.
Lambo wanted to touch it.
"Ah!" Lambo cried as he reached for the green hair, which was luckily not far away.
"Wait, don't-" the man started to protest right as Lambo's hand landed right on the fun-looking hair. Lambo instantly laughed as he placed his other hand on the hair and began to gently tug on the green strands.
"Ow, stop!" the man requested with a wince as Lambo continued to tug on the hair regardless. "That...oh nevermind, keep doing what you're doing. There is no way you can hurt me more than Reborn."
Lambo stopped tugging on the man's green hair when he saw how the man was frowning and heard how the man's words were kind of sad.
Was he hurting the man with the fun hair?
Lambo whined as he let go of the fun green hair. Both hands now free again, the baby gave a big sloppy kiss on one of his palms before gently placing it on the man's forehead.
"Ah be na," Lambo said with a warm smile, doing his best to imitate Ome whenever she comforted him after he had gotten hurt. However, to his surprise, the man didn't look either comforted or better.
In fact, he looked like he was about to cry.
"That...that is the nicest thing that has happened to me since last night!" the man whined as he pulled the baby to his chest and began to hold him properly. Lambo didn't protest because one, he could sense that the man needed some more comfort and two, he liked hugs.
"I mean, it's not like the brat actually lost consciousness or anything like that," the man continued as he turned a bit and walked backwards till his back gently touched the wall. Then the man slid down, still holding Lambo closely to his chest like a stuffed animal. "Sure, he had trouble moving for a while...and his hand did actually get burned...man..."
The nice green-haired man then tilted his head back against the wall and groaned as he looked up at the ceiling.
"I gotta actually apologize to the kid," he said as he looked back down at Lambo. "Don't I?"
Seeing that the man didn't look quite as sad as before, Lambo let out a cheerful sound.
"That's what I thought," the man replied with a sigh as he scratched the side of his head with one hand, bringing attention to his lightning bolt birthmark. "Ugh, it's gonna be such a pain..."
Lambo babbled happily and curiously as he reached his little hand up to touch the interesting mark on the man's face. His arm length was just long enough for Lambo to touch the birthmark with the tips of his fingers, causing Lambo to coo with glee.
"Speaking of pains, I thought you were gonna to be a huge pain to have around the mansion," the man admitted. "But...you're actually not that bad at all. In fact-"
"Lambo!" Lambo perked his head up at the familiar voice and instantly turned his head to find that his big brother Kyo was running towards them with an expression that definitely wasn't cheerful.
And his other siblings weren't far behind him.
"Uh oh," the man said as Lambo quickly got out of the nice man's hold and started to walk towards his siblings, mainly Kyo since he was the closest. "Look, I wasn't doing anything to him I swear!"
"Is that so?" Muku replied nonhappily. Before Lambo could wonder why Muku sounded kind of angry, Kyo stooped down and picked him up in one swift motion.
"Yes! I just found him in the hallway about to cry so I-"
"Crying from what?" Kyo nearly growled as he held Lambo tightly against his chest. Lambo tilted his head, confused as to why Kyo sounded so angry.
What happened?
"From tripping over the carpet! So I picked him up and comforted him! In fact, you should thank me for letting him tug at my hair!"
"You let him tug at your hair?" Lambo heard the lady asked in amazement while Kyo looked down at him.
"Yes!"
"Kyo!" Lambo exclaimed as he placed his hand on his brother's cheek in an attempt to calm him down. And it seemed to have worked because Kyo smiled slightly not even a second later.
"He does seem to be alright," Tsu commented as he gently rubbed his hand through Lambo's curls, making the baby laugh.
"That because he is!" the man practically wailed.
"Alright, calm down Lampo," the lady said soothingly. "We all were just a little scared when we realized that Lambo had left the room without our knowledge."
"Yeah...thank you for finding him and comforting him when he fell," Ome said gratefully. Lambo turned his head just in time to see the nice man scratched the back of his head.
"No problem," the man muttered. "Just keep a better eye on him from now on."
"Oh we definitely will," Haya started firmly as the nice man began to turn around. Then suddenly, he stopped.
"I'm...Ryohei, I'm sorry for going overboard last night," he apologized softly as he eyed them with a glint that seemed kind of fearful to Lambo. A few seconds of silence later, Lambo heard Ryo respond.
"Ah, you're good. I'm already over it." The man looked surprised before he let out a sigh.
"You're a strange kid...all of you are."
"Haha, you got that right!" Take laughed happily as the man fully turned around and began to walk away.
"Bye!" Lambo cried as he waved his hand. He had a good time with him, Lambo hoped that he would get to see him again soon.
And perhaps his new friend felt the same way because as the man continued to walk away, he gave Lambo a small wave back.
So Lampo finally officially apologized and Lambo had a small adventure! How did you like it? It was a bit different for me to write since I had to write it pretty simple since well, Lambo is still a pure little baby. I think it is safe to say that his actions and motives are much simpler than a kid around ten years old.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts in a review on your way out and I will update by the end of the month. Till then, have a good day/night!
