Guest: Thank you and here you go.
This chapter is thanks to Ameily and Dman4869 (who both wanted to see one of kids drunk) and a guest who wanted a chapter focused on Takeshi and Chrome.
I don't own KHR.
"Mornin' Kyoya," Takeshi yawned as he walked into the bathroom. Kyoya, who had just finished combing his hair, raised his eyebrow.
"Why does it sound like you just woke up?" Kyoya asked as he put down the comb. "Didn't you get up at the same forsaken hour as Ryohei?"
"Not that early, but yeah, I've been up for a while. I'm not sure why I yawned," Takeshi replied as he went to the nearest sink and splashed some water on his face. Recently, Takeshi had been getting up early so he could do some running as well as some baseball exercises. Sometimes Ryohei would join in and other times Asari would come to either throw the ball with him or just observe. Asari had decided to just observe him this morning, though to Takeshi's pleasure he had brought along his flute. Perhaps that's why Takeshi yawned, the music Asari played had been very peaceful.
Kyoya just grunted as he opened the cabinet and took out the mouthwash, apparently accepting Takeshi's answer. Takeshi himself just grabbed the nearest towel and started drying his face when the door opened.
"Oh hey, are you-" Takeshi heard Chrome say when he heard someone choke. He lifted his face out of the towel and saw Kyoya coughing into the sink, the empty lid (that also served as a small cup) of mouthwash in his hand.
"Kyoya, are you okay?" Chrome instantly asked in concern as she rushed by Takeshi to get to their older brother. It was when Chrome started patting Kyoya's back that Takeshi got a real good look at his younger sister. As well as realized the reason why Kyoya of all people started choking on mouthwash.
Chrome had the classic case of bedhair, and its most prominent feature being some thick strands that spiked up at the back. And while Chrome's accidental hairdo didn't look like a certain melon, it was apparently close enough for their older brother.
"Chrome, your hair," Takeshi chuckled as he pointed at the purple hair in question. Chrome looked confused as she stopped patting Kyoya's back and lightly patted her head instead. Then she glanced at the mirror and once she saw her reflection, her eye grew wide.
"Oh! How?!" Chrome exclaimed as she hurriedly brushed her fingers through her hair, effectively smoothing the pokey strands out. "I didn't plan on this I swear!"
"Don't worry, I know you didn't," Takeshi chuckled as he put away the towel while Kyoya put the lid back down somewhat shakily. "I bet your hair just loved your pillow too much last night."
"I guess," Chrome commented as she continued to brush her hair back to its usual, calm and straight style. "Though why didn't anyone say anything? Wait, is this why Daemon and Mukuro were smirking?"
"Probably."
"Yeah, of course they were," Chrome muttered as she stopped brushing her hair, finally satisfied with it. Then she turned to Kyoya, who was slowly blinking at the mirror. "I'm sorry for startling you Kyoya, are you okay?"
Kyoya didn't respond right away, choosing instead to give the mirror one more long blink before slowly turning his head to look at them.
"Yeah...I'm okay. I think...I only swallowed a tiny bit," Kyoya answered, his pupils noticeably larger than normal. Then he smiled as he patted Chrome's hair. "It's cute that you care so much though. C-Cute."
Takeshi and Chrome could only stare as Kyoya's smile grew to the point where they could see his teeth as he continued to pat Chrome's hair.
While Takeshi had never seen Kyoya act this way before, there was something in his behavior that seemed familiar to him. He didn't know why though.
"Uh...are you guys ready for breakfast?" Chrome asked them, still looking quite flabbergasted despite Kyoya having stopped petting her hair. "Because I was told to get you guys, though it's might be ready by now."
"Oh yeah, I'm good," Takeshi confirmed as he looked himself up and down and decided that he was dressed well enough for breakfast despite being in workout clothes (if Lampo and Tsuna could go to breakfast in pjs, then why couldn't he go in sweats?). "Kyoya?"
"...Y-Yeah," Kyoya said with a big nod before taking a step forward, prompting Chrome to take a step backwards so he wouldn't accidentally bump into her. "I'm down for some food-"
Kyoya then stumbled over his own feet, causing him to collide with the porcelain counter. He would have fallen to the floor if both Chrome and Takeshi hadn't rushed forward to catch him.
"Okay, something's wrong," Chrome stated, worry written all over her face as Kyoya giggled.
"O-Oopsies. I almost fell. S-Silly me."
"Defintely very wrong," Takeshi agreed as he nodded vehemently with wide eyes. Kyoya then leaned forward and wrapped Takeshi in a very sloppy hug.
"Oh T-Takeshi, you're such a cute b-brother. You deserve more hugs," Kyoya declared as Takeshi managed to stay his ground despite Kyoya putting nearly all his body weight on him. While Takeshi was a fan of both giving and receiving hugs, this whole experience was too off-putting for him to really enjoy it.
"Was he like this before I came in?" Chrome asked him, her voice somewhat calm despite the clear alarm in her eye.
"No. He was completely normal right until..." Takeshi answered as his eyes landed on the streaks of teal liquid in the sink that Kyoya had been using. "He choked on the mouthwash. Kyoya, I love you but I need you to lean on the counter for a little bit. Okay bud?"
"O-Okay, anything for you l-little brother," Kyoya accepted as he began to sluggishly transfer himself from Takeshi to the bathroom counter (they ended up having to help him). Once he was free, Takeshi grabbed the mouthwash and flipped it to the other side while Chrome rubbed Kyoya's back.
"Are you sure you feel okay Kyoya?" Chrome repeated as Takeshi quickly scanned the ingredients and the directions. Was mouthwash one of those things one wasn't supposed to drink because it was actually poison? If so, then why did people use it to help clean out their gums or to just have good breath?
"A-Actually, I'm not okay," Kyoya replied as Takeshi finally spotted a certain ingredient. Immediately, Kyoya's strange but familiar behavior made sense. "I'm f-fantastic!"
The ingredient was alcohol.
"He's drunk," Takeshi said as he faced Chrome. Chrome's worried and alarmed expression turned into one of dumbfounded bewilderment as Kyoya giggled once more.
"...What?" Chrome asked like she couldn't believe what she just heard.
"He's drunk," Takeshi repeated as he held the big bottle out to her. "There's apparently a lot of alcohol in mouthwash."
With one hand still on Kyoya's back, Chrome used her other hand to tilt the mouthwash so she could read the ingredients better. A few seconds later, her eye widened in astonishment.
"Kyoya said he only swallowed a tiny bit-"
"You're right, I-I did!" Kyoya confirmed happily.
"And Elena wouldn't let Kyoya use mouthwash if it could make people drunk!"
"Maybe she didn't know?" Takeshi suggested with a shrug. "Or maybe she thought that it would be okay since Kyoya is old and responsible enough to not just straight up drink mouthwash."
This theory instantly caused Chrome's face to fall.
"So I'm the one who broke Kyoya?" she asked in soft voice so full of guilt that Takeshi felt like someone had just flicked his heart.
"No, he's not broken, it was an accident! He'll get better!" Takeshi hurriedly assured her as he put down the mouthwash. However, before he could hug her or pat her head, Kyoya ungracefully turned around and tugged Chrome close to him.
"D-Don't cry Chrome," Kyoya whined as he hugged Chrome tightly. "It's okay, you're my sweet little sister, I love you. Don't cry, you're with me, I got you."
Takeshi almost sighed in relief when the guilty expression left Chrome's face to be replaced with a warm one. He did smile though because not only was this a tender moment between siblings, but now he knew what was wrong with Kyoya.
He was just drunk. It wasn't a good thing, but it was admittedly kind of hilarious.
"He's much nicer than my mom whenever she was drunk," Chrome observed as she snuggled against Kyoya while hugging him back.
"Yeah, he kinda acts like some of the people who used to drink too much sake in Pops' restaurant," Takeshi added as he couldn't help but frown a bit at the mention of Chrome's terrible excuse for a mother. "I guess there are different kinds of drunks."
"So Kyoya is a honest and caring drunk?"
"Yep!" Kyoya exclaimed as he happily rubbed his cheek against the top of Chrome's head.
"I guess that answers that question!" Takeshi laughed, throughly amused at the moment. Then he got an idea. "Hey Kyoya, what do you feel about Mukuro?"
"I loove him!" Kyoya declared as he finally stopped hugging Chrome so he could stretch out his arms as wide as possible. "I-I didn't at first, but then I realized that he was just a hurt little cinnamon roll who needed all the love and protection in the world! As his b-big brother, I will bite everyone who tries to hurt him again to death!"
Both Takeshi and Chrome couldn't help but giggle at Kyoya's declaration. While they all knew that Kyoya really did care for Mukuro (and vice versa), it was touching to have it outright confirmed like that.
Also, if Mukuro ever found out that Kyoya called him a 'little cinnamon roll,' his face would become memorably priceless.
"Oh, speaking of Mukuro, if he sees Kyoya like this, he would never let him live this down," Chrome pointed out.
"Yeah," Takeshi agreed while Kyoya giggled again for no particular reason as he reached out to rubbed Takeshi's hair affectionably. "Never mind our guardians' reactions."
"Oh gosh," Chrome breathed softly as she became more troubled. "They're not gonna be happy...we can't let them see him like this!"
"But what can we do?" Takeshi mused. "I don't know how to make him not drunk. Do you?"
"Y-You're so tall Takeshi," Kyoya crooned as he rubbed his cheek against Takeshi's face. "You're gonna be the best baseball player ever! O-Or swordsman! Don't let anyone t-tell you otherwise!"
"Um...oh! My mom would always go back to normal after a good night's sleep," Chrome said with a pointed finger as Takeshi smiled appreciatively as he patted Kyoya's arm. "Well, more or less. A lot of the time she would be pretty cranky and wouldn't let me anywhere near her."
"Let's get Kyoya back to bed then," Takeshi said as he secretly listed yet another reason why he would find it very hard to forgive Chrome's mother even if she directly apologized to his sister.
"Right, we better hurry though," Chrome agreed. "The others are probably wondering why we aren't at breakfast yet. Wait, what are we gonna say when they ask us where's Kyoya?"
"Um...that he isn't feeling like himself?"
"Whaddya mean? I f-feel like a light, fluffy cloud," Kyoya protested with a pout as he finally stopped rubbing his head against Takeshi's.
"...It's not a lie," Chrome acknowledged before she grabbed Kyoya's arm and wrapped it around her shoulder. "C'mon Kyoya, let's get you to bed. You need some sleep."
"Aw, but I'm not t-tired," Kyoya whined. Takeshi couldn't help but grin as he grabbed Kyoya's other arm and also wrapped it around his shoulders. "Wait, are we gonna snuggle?"
He knew he could be oblivious at times but even he knew that this was beautiful blackmail and teasing material. Not that Takeshi was gonna to do it, and not just because he was a nice brother either. Kyoya would bite him to death if he even so much as tried.
"For a little while, sure buddy," Takeshi granted as he and Chrome began to lead Kyoya out of the bathroom.
"Yay!" Kyoya cheered as Takeshi peeked his head out of the doorway. When the coast was clear, he nodded to Chrome and together, they half-carried Kyoya out of the bathroom.
"So you really like snuggle time, huh Kyoya?" Chrome asked as they walked down the hallway, with a small knowing smile.
"Uh-huh! Not with everybody though, just with you guys, my f-family," Kyoya admitted with a shaky nod.
"That makes sense," Takeshi commented as they came to the end of the hallway and after looking both ways, turned the corner. Then he smiled when he thought of another question that Kyoya wouldn't normally give a completely honest answer to. "Wait, what about Alaude?"
"What about me?" Chrome shrieked as Takeshi guiltily turned around to find Alaude standing just a few centimeters away from them.
Well, their attempts to both perserve Kyoya's dignity and prevent him from getting into trouble failed.
"We're so sorry!" Chrome exclaimed as both she and Kyoya turned around. "Please don't get mad at Kyoya, he didn't mean to, I startled him!"
"Hi A-Alaude!" Kyoya waved at the adult with a wide, toothy smile.
"...What did he drink?" Alaude asked after a brief moment of him staring at Kyoya incredulously. "Did you kids somehow find Daemon's secret stash?!"
"No!" Takeshi cried with a shake of his head. "Wait-"
"He choked on mouthwash!" Chrome explained with a guilty expression.
"Just a l-little bit," Kyoya added with a very big nod.
"Daemon has a secret stash?" Takeshi continued.
Then, before Alaude could respond, Kyoya suddenly lunged for Alaude.
"A-Alaude," Kyoya crooned as Alaude quickly caught him before he could faceplant on the floor. "Did you know that I t-think of you as a second dad?"
Alaude didn't make a sound as his eyes widened with shock as something that suspiciously looked like pure emotion overtook his face.
"No, I did not," Alaude finally answered softly.
"Well, now you know," Kyoya simply replied as he patted Alaude's arm. Then out of the blue, Kyoya yawned. "Oh, now I'm r-really sleepy..."
"Then let's get you to bed then," Alaude stated as he gently picked Kyoya up and held him close to his chest. Then he looked at Takeshi and Chrome and while his expression was calm again, his smile was warm. "You two hurry to the dining room, I'll take Kyoya back to bed. And when they ask what happened, just say you had to take care of Kyoya because he was feeling a little under the weather but will be perfectly fine after some undisturbed rest."
"Oh, alright!" Chrome exclaimed happily. Whether it was due to the endearing scene they just witnessed or because they weren't going to be in trouble after all, Takeshi wasn't sure.
Probably a mixture of both.
"Let's go then Chrome!" Takeshi cried as he grabbed his sister's hand and began to pull her towards the dining room. "Thanks Alaude! And see ya later Kyoya!"
"See ya Takeshi, Chrome," Kyoya said sleepily as he waved to them as Alaude headed in the opposite way. A few seconds after they passed each other, Alaude called out to them.
"Let this be a lesson to the both of you, as well as Kyoya when he's back to normal." Takeshi and Chrome stopped as they looked back to Alaude. He briefly thought that they were in trouble after all but then he saw that Alaude was still smiling. Takeshi decided that maybe Alaude just wanted them to take something out of this little adventure.
"Um...that you shouldn't drink mouthwash?" Takeshi asked. Alaude's smile grew a little bigger.
"That and Kyoya shouldn't go anywhere near alcohol, even when he's of age. His tolerance for it is completely nonexistent."
Alaude then continued on his way, making Takeshi wonder just how long they were going to be able to keep that secret from Mukuro.
So how was that? I admit, I don't drink and I don't really hang around people who do so most of my knowledge of drunk people comes from the media. I figured that Kyoya (who in canon really does have a really low tolerance for alcohol) would be a funny, endearing drunk. At the very least, it would be hilarious. To me anyway, I hope you guys found it funny too.
Please leave a review with your honest thoughts and I will update shortly. Till then, see ya and have a safe and good day/night!
