A/N: I'm sorry for the long wait. I know its been forever! I've been overly stressed with everything happening. Been a rough year and I'm still not giving up on my fanfiction. Just recently I have been reading a bunch of fanfics on here and AO3. But I know there has been a bunch of stuff that has been out of character and not following stuff, but in all honesty I think it's kinda fun to give it a twist. But your not here to read me ramble on and on. So please enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 9

*In Dreamland*

Newt was enjoying himself on a field with hippogrifs. He was petting them and just studying them in general. He was very happy in this dream. The smile on his face was very bright.

"Enjoying your time with hippogriffs I see," a very familar smooth voice said.

Newt whirled around and came face to face with his father Gellert Grindlewald. He looked at him in slight fear, but there was something about Gellert. It just made him feel calm. Even though the man had basically threatened him, he still couldn't find it in him to be completely terrified of him. Newt let his shoulders relax, it was just a dream anyways, it wasn't like it was really Gellert.

"I guess, my mom... er... adoptive mom used to train them!"

Gellert gave a smile, "So that must be where your love for creatures came from." Gellert paused and thought for a minute. "You must think I'm part of your dream mein kleiner. I want to let you know that I am the real Gellert Grindlwald."

Newt stared at him in disbelief, "Um... but h-h-how did you g-g-get in my d-d-dream?"

"We are connected. Since you are my son by blood, we have a familie connection. I have tapped into it so I could talk to you. I promise I mean you no harm, and if you wish I will leave you to dream," Gellert said.

Newt seemed deep in thought, "W-w-well, I guess you can stay." Newt looked at the ground. Gellert walked up to him and pulled his face up to meet his eyes. "R-r-right, I forgot. Y-y-you like eye c-c-con-contact."

Gellert gave a soft smile, "When you look at the ground it makes me feel you are afraid of me. I wish for nothing more than for you not fear me, mein kleiner. Plus it is a thing of confidence, you need to have more confidence. I will not harm you in anyway."

Newt took a deep breath and let it out, "I'm sorry, but I don't have much confidence. I don't think I ever will."

"I believe you will. Look you have stopped stuttering. It makes me happy when you do! I believe with time and the right guidance you will gain great confidence. I want to help bring it out, mein kleiner."

Newt gave a small smile, "Would you like to learn to approach a hippogriff?"

Gellert's smile widened, "I would be honored!"

Newt's smile grew big, "Ok, come over here!" Newt lead Gellert to a hippogriff. "First thing you need to do is bow, and make sure to bow nice and low." Gellert came up next to Newt and bowed low just like Newt. "Watch carefully for her to bow as well." Slowly the hippogriff bowed, Newt smiled and pulled Gellert up. Slowly he lead him close to her, "Put you hand out slowly." Gellert did as he was told. Slowly he stroked the hippogriff, it was amazing. His son had just showed him how to do something incredible. It may have just been a dream but he knew this was true.

"Amazing, Newt! Absolutely amazing. Maybe one day you can show me in real life!" Gellert seemed excited.

Newt gave a bright smile, "I can tell you more about creatures if you want."

Gellert smiled at how easy it was to get Newt talking especially with this subject.

*In Albus's Office*

Albus had been in deep thought all day. The headmaster wanted him to tell the ministry about Newt's relationship with Gellert. While he could agree that it would be for the best to have help protecting Newt, he was still worried. He wanted Newt to be able to live his life without Gellert interrupting. One idea had crossed his mind but he didn't want to do it. It seemed very cruel. Albus sighed, but maybe it was for the best. Maybe if he obliviated both Newt and Gellert into forgeting their relationship they could move on. He felt it would be too cruel, but to protect his son it might be necessary. The only problem would be obliviating Gellert. He didn't see him nearly as much as he seen Newt. Albus sighed, he would deal with this problem tomorrow.

*The Next Day*

Newt seemed to be in a very good mood. He had spent all of his dream explaining magical creatures to Gellert. It felt so nice to talk about his passion. He could not wait till he could study more creatures around the world. Gellert seemed to encourage the idea, and Newt was very happy with that. Newt was on his way to meet with his dad, he was ready for afternoon tea. Once outside his door, he knocked. Albus opened the door and had a sad look on his face. It instantly made Newt nervous. But he followed his dad inside.

"Newt, I'm very sorry for this," Albus said.

Newt gave a very confused look, "For what?"

Albus immeadiatly turned to Newt wand raised, "Obliviate!"

A/N: I'm sorry for the cliffhanger. But the next chapter there will be a time skip to year 3 for Newt. I have a direction I'm going and I hope it turns out good. But I hope you enjoyed this chapter. And hopefully the next one wont take me as long to post/write!
