Sleep

After Omega had escaped Cad Bane, she was worried and afraid. Her conversation with Hunter had helped, but she still couldn't sleep.

"Hunter, can you hold me till I fall asleep? I don't want to be alone." Omega wondered quietly. Hunter smiled softly and nodded.

"Sure," Hunter replied.

Hunter sat back down and Omega climbed onto his lap and carefully leaned against his chest. Hunter hugged her close and Omega wrapped her arms around Hunter's left arm.

"Hunter, have you ever been afraid?" Omega wondered.

"More than you know, Omega," Hunter admitted.

"Have you ever been so worried that your chest feels tight and you can't breathe?"

"I feel that way a lot, but since order 66, not a day goes by that I don't feel that way."

"What do you do?"

Hunter rubbed Omega's arm and smiled.

"I watch you. Your smile and your laughter. I watch you sleep or play. You're my peace." Hunter said.

"Could you be my peace?" Omega wondered.

"Sure. Anytime you need some comfort, you can come to me."

"Thanks."

Hunter watched the stars and listened as Omega soon fell asleep. He smiled softly and relaxed at her calm breathing. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he looked up to see Tech.

"Why don't you go get some sleep, I'll take over," Tech suggested. Hunter nodded and picked Omega up. Part of him wanted to put her back in her bed, but he knew it would upset her. Besides, he enjoyed holding her. He grabbed another pillow and placed it in his bunk. He laid down with Omega on his chest and he tried to get comfortable. Omega sensed the change and wrapped her arms around Hunter's neck and snuggled into his chest a little more. Hunter smiled and rubbed her back. Listening to Omega sleep lulled Hunter into a peaceful state and he soon fell asleep.

The next morning, Echo woke up and looked around. He spotted HUnter and Omega and he smiled.

"When did that happen?" Echo whispered as he walked into the cockpit.

"Not long after most of us fell asleep. I told Hunter that I'd take the rest of his shift. It wasn't long before he was asleep." Tech explained.

"We've all been through a lot, but those two... they need this."

"Agreed."

A little while later, Wrecker woke up and smiled at the two underneath him. He quietly climbed out of his bunk and walked up to his brothers.

"Should we wake them?" Wrecker wondered.

"No. Let them sleep. They both need some rest." Echo replied.

"Ok.

It was several hours before Omega woke up. She looked around sleepily and felt Hunter stir. She hugged him and he hugged her.

"I don't want to get up." Omega huffed.

"I know kid. I'll hold you for as long as you need." Hunter answered.

"Ok."

Hunter looked down at Omega and smiled. Omega yawned and closed her eyes. It wasn't long before she was asleep again. Echo handed Hunter a ration bar and chuckled.

"She out again?" Echo wondered.

"She's been through a lot. She hasn't had a regular schedule since joining us." Hunter answered.

"One day, we'll be able to settle down for her."

"I know. In the meantime, I'll be here for her when she needs this."

"Good idea."
