Shock
Hello, everyone. this prompt was suggested by Generic Ficer(. Omega gets seriously injured on a mission, the rest of the team responds. Enjoy.
Hunter knew he should have ordered Omega back to the ship. He didn't know what stopped him. They were on a mission for Cid to retrieve information for an informant working for the rebellion. It was supposed to be a simple in-and-out mission, but it wasn't. The information was on an old battleship that had wrecked on a planet. They quickly realized that they were not the only people looking for this information. It wasn't hard getting to the ship's main computer and copying the info, but getting out proved to be much harder.
"We have to get out of here," Hunter stated as the clone troopers fired at them.
"Follow me," Tech replied.
They followed Tech through the ship hoping that it would lead them to safety. All of a sudden, the ship groaned and Hunter, Omega, and Crosshair fell through the floor. Tech, Echo, and Wrecker found the Marauder and saw that they were only half a team.
"Where are the others?" Echo questioned.
"I thought they were behind you." Wrecker replied.
"Hunter, Omega, Crosshair, come in," Tech called.
Hunter groaned and looked around. He saw Omega and Crosshair looking around and he sighed.
"We're fine. Just a little dazed. We fell quite a distance." Hunter said.
"We're at the ship," Tech answered.
"Then stay there. We'll be there shortly."
Hunter looked at Crosshair and Omega and then he looked around.
"It's too dangerous to go back up. We have to hope that we can find a way out of here." Hunter sighed.
"I say we go left." Crosshair replied. Hunter knelt and listened.
"Agreed."
Hunter looked at Omega who was very quiet and tense.
"Are you ok?" Hunter questioned.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just sore." Omega lied.
"What is it?"
"I just fell wrong."
"Let me see."
"It can wait. Let's get out of here."
Omega led the way. They found an exit and stopped.
"See anything?" Hunter whispered.
"No. Hear anything?" Crosshair sighed.
"Yes."
"Close?"
"Probably."
Omega peeked out and before Hunter could pull her back, a blaster went off. Omega cried out in pain and fell to the ground.
"Omega!" Hunter exclaimed as he knelt beside her.
"Take care of the kid. I got this." Crosshair sneered as he went to work.
Hunter looked down at Omega and saw that she was clutching her left side.
"Were you hit?" Hunter questioned.
"Yes." Omega cried.
"Let me see."
Omega pulled her hands away and Hunter felt his body panic. There was a lot of blood gushing out of Omega's side. He quickly put pressure on the wound and looked at Omega who whimpered in pain. Omega rested her head on some debris and Hunter panicked.
"No, Omega, you have to stay awake. You can't fall asleep just yet." Hunter ordered. Omega moaned but didn't open her eyes. Hunter gently shook Omega but she didn't wake. "No! Come on, Omega. Come on. You have to stay with me, kid."
Crosshair had killed the clone troopers and looked at his siblings and what he heard left him frozen.
"No! Come on, Omega. COme on. You have to stay with me, kid." Hunter exclaimed. Crosshair could see that Omega was bleeding heavily and he knew based on his brother's response that he was worried and afraid. "No! Crosshair, we need to get out of here. I'm losing her."
Crosshair came out of his shock and rushed over.
"It's safe, but we have to hurry." Crosshair stated.
Hunter picked Omega up and tried to put pressure on her wound.
"Tell, Tech." Hunter panicked.
Crosshair got a hold of Tech and looked around.
"Tech, Omega's been shot. She needs medical help. Now. SHe's unconscious and she's losing a lot of blood." Crosshair stated. Crosshair heard no reply, but he knew his brothers heard the message. He looked at Hunter and knew that his brother was crying. "How is she?"
"She's losing too much blood. She's..." Hunter trailed off.
At the ship, the others were preparing the ship when Crosshair's message came over the comms. All three were in shock at what Crosshair said. Omega was injured, yet none of them could move. None of them could believe this was happening. Echo was the first one to recover from this shock and he prepared a bunk and grabbed whatever they might need.
"Tech, start up the ship, and find a medical base. Now!" Echo ordered. Echo looked at Tech who wasn't moving and he groaned. He walked over and shook Tech who blinked and did as he was told. Echo couldn't stop moving. Everything told him to be ready to save his little sister and that was what he was going to do.
Tech felt Echo shake him and he immediately did as he was told. He started up the ship and he found a medical base. His mind could not believe that this was happening. Omega had been kidnapped and chased, but never injured like this. He couldn't wrap his mind around this fact, but he knew what he had to do.
Wrecker felt many big emotions bubble up inside him. His little sister was hurt and he wasn't there to stop that from happening. Something made him grab Omega's stuffed animals and he held them close. Still in shock over the news.
It felt like hours before they arrived at the ship. Hunter saw Echo waiting and he rushed past him with omega. Hunter laid Omega down on a bunk and Crosshair and Echo rushed to stabilize Omega. Hunter could feel the ship move but he couldn't break his focus from Omega's wound. He felt someone shake him and heard people talking, but he couldn't comprehend what was happening. All he knew was that Omega was hurt and it was his fault.
Echo pushed Hunter out of the way so he could examine Omega. Crosshair was busy trying to stop the bleeding and Echo checked for other injuries. The scanner beeped when it passed Omega's chest and he looked at Crosshair and Hunter. Echo shook Hunter but he didn't respond.
"Hunter, I have to examine her." Echo stated. Echo looked up at Wrecker who was waiting in horror. "Wrecker, grab Hunter."
Wrecker nodded and pulled Hunter away from Omega.
"No! I have to stay with her." Hunter panicked. He started fighting, only to collapse into Wrecker's arms.
Echo examined Omega closely and looked at Crosshair.
"She has a few broken ribs. One is pressed against her diaphragm." Echo stated.
"At least it's not her lung." Crosshair sighed. Echo nodded and looked at the wound. "The bleeding just stopped. Her vitals are stabilizing. She's fighting."
"Good."
Crosshair didn't like children and he wasn't fond of Omega, but she changed that. Now, he'd do anything for her. At that moment, he wished that it had been him who was shot and not Omega. He could see how shocked everyone was and how focused they were on taking care of Omega. Crosshair felt his body relax when the bleeding stopped and he was even more relaxed when her vitals stabilized. Hearing about Omega's broken ribs was concerning, but at least her lungs were safe.
"Tech, how long till we arrive at the medical base?" Crosshair questioned.
"We'll be there in 4 hours," Tech replied. "This is the closest safe hospital," Tech replied.
Tech tried to keep himself busy as he watched Crosshair and Echo patch Omega up. for a moment, he saw the wound and his heart was in his stomach at the sight. The wound would have been nasty on any of them, but on Omega... it was horrendous. He watched Wrecker hold Hunter who was in shock at the state of Omega. Tech knew what must have been running through Hunter's head and he knew it was running through the others. He knew that the chances of Omega surviving were in her favor, but it still worried him as to how much blood she did lose. He walked over and sat beside his brothers and he watched Omega carefully.
Wrecker nodded to Tech who had just sat down beside him. Wrecker could feel the tension in Hunter's body and he could feel the fear and anger. Wrecker watched Crosshair and Echo care for their sister and he knew that if Omega was ok, he'd give her anything she wants. He never wanted to see her like this ever again.
No one realized how long they had been sitting with Omega till the ship beeped.
"We're there," Tech stated as he walked up to the cockpit. When they landed, Hunter picked Omega up and rushed her out of the ship, and saw a gurney waiting.
"You'll be ok, Omega. Just hold on." Hunter whispered. Omega was rushed away and the Bad Batch was lead to a waiting room. The five of them squeezed onto a couch and waited quietly.
After a couple of hours, Echo stood up and walked around and Crosshair joined him.
"The kid will be fine." Crosshair said.
"I know. Why didn't we check? We should have made sure that the rest of you were behind us. If we had, none of this would have happened." Echo sighed.
"You don't know that. I should have seen them coming. I should have known that Omega was right beside us. I should have known that she would look for herself."
"Blaming isn't gonna solve anything, is it?"
"No, it won't. She'll be in there for a while. Let's go get cleaned up. Don't want her to see all this blood on us."
Echo and Crosshair went to clean up while the others waited. tech bounced his leg nervously while Wrecker counted the ceiling tile. Hunter just sat there blaming himself. When Echo and Crosshair returned, Crosshair looked at Hunter.
"You should get cleaned up. DOn't want the kid seeing you covered in her blood." Crosshair stated coldly.
"Not till I see that she's ok," Hunter replied.
"Hunter, Crosshair's right. You need to get cleaned up. It'll only take you a few minutes. It'll be a long while before they're done with Omega." Echo explained.
"Later," Hunter answered.
"Come on, Hunter. You heard them." Wrecker sighed as he took up and grabbed Huner. Hunter struggled but eventually stopped.
"I should have made her stay at the ship. She shouldn't have been with us. What was I thinking?" Hunter blamed.
"Hunter, you and Omega made a deal. You would let her come with us, but she needed to do as she was told. She only did what she saw us do a hundred times. There was no stopping her." Echo answered.
"She should have been protected. Look at us. We have armor and she doesn't. This was our fault. We let her out there without any protection of her own. What were we thinking?"
"We weren't. As usual. We didn't even think to train her." Crosshair scoffed.
"But you weren't with us when we first took her in," Tech stated.
"No, but I was guilty as soon as I came back. I knew better. I knew she needed to be trained, but I never said or did anything."
"Even if we had trained her and kept her protected, she still would have found trouble. It's just like Cut and Suu told us. Children always find a way of getting into trouble. Omega's no different." Echo sighed.
"You're right," Hunter mumbled.
"Let's get you cleaned up."
Hunter nodded and allowed Echo to lead him to the refresher. Hunter cleaned himself up and he followed Echo back to the waiting room where they all paced.
A few hours later, the brothers were sitting on the couch again waiting and waiting. It was obvious that they were tired and hungry, but they refused to eat or sleep till they heard the news on their sister. It wasn't long before a medical droid approached them and they all looked up at him.
"The child will be fine. In time, her ribs will heal and so will the wound. She lost a lot of blood, and she was very weak. She will need a lot of time and rest. We've given her a small dose of a sedative. She'll be asleep for a while. Maybe another day at the most." The droid said.
"Where is she?" Hunter questioned.
"I will show you."
The droid showed the brothers to Omega's room and they walked in and walked over to her. The first thing they noticed was how pale and fragile Omega was. Hunter held Omega's hand gently and he caressed her cheek.
"Her heart is stronger than it was earlier," Hunter whispered. "She's stronger."
The brothers relaxed and sat around the room waiting for Omega to wake. Hunter had found a notepad and pencil and was drawing something. A few hours later, Tech and Wrecker's snoring filled the room and Crosshair sneered. Hunter handed the notepad to Crosshair who nodded and handed it to Echo. Echo smiled and woke Tech up and showed him. Tech looked at the picture and grabbed his datapad and took it from there.
Everyone was asleep when Omega woke up. She could feel someone holding her hand and she looked and saw that it was Hunter. She used her free hand and ran her fingers through Hunter's hair. Hunter sat up and looked at Omega.
"You're awake," Hunter whispered. "How do you feel?"
"Tired, cold. It hurts a little bit." Omega murmured.
"What happened?"
"You were shot."
"I remember that. How did I get here? How long have I been here?"
"Don't worry about that, kid. Just focus on resting."
Wrecker yawned and opened his eyes and saw Omega looking around. He chuckled and pushed Tech who groaned.
"She's awake." Wrecker exclaimed.
"Shh." Hunter hushed. Wrecker walked over and gently squeezed Omega's arm.
"You had us worried, kid."
"I'm sorry," Omega murmured.
"It's ok, Omega. What matters now is that you'll be alright. You'll be here for a few more days and then you'll be able to come home and get your new armor and start training." Hunter explained.
"Armor? Training?"
"We all agreed that it was time you learned how to be one of us. If you had armor, this probably wouldn't have happened."
Hunter grabbed Tech's datapad and showed Omega her new armor. Omega smiled and took the datapad.
"I like it," Omega said.
"It'll be ready when you get out of here," Hunter answered. "And when you're all healed, you'll start training."
"Yes, sir."
Omega watched as Tech, Echo, and Crosshair walked over and watched her carefully. Tech and Echo were smiling and Omega could see a faint smile on Crosshair's face. She smiled and closed her eyes as she tried to rest.
