A/N: This is for Hogwarts assignment 10, Muggle Music task #3 It's Raining Men – Soulmate!AU, and it's also for the Insane House Challenge prompt character Bill Weasley. It's 1445 words.

Hermione sat on her bed feeling anxious. It was the eve of her seventeenth birthday and she would dream of her soulmate once the clocks turned midnight.

She had read many books on the subject of course, but they all said different things. It seemed the dreams varied depending on whether your soulmate was of age or not, and whether they were alive. Some only saw faces and names, and others lived out whole scenarios, but either way you found out who they were.

She had wondered many times over the years who it could be, but each time Hermione came up with a name she quickly dismissed it. The only thing she knew for sure was that it wasn't Harry, or Ron. As much as she loved them, they were only her friends.

The dorm room door opened and closed filling the silence briefly with the noise of the common room. Hermione thought that it was one of the other girls she shared the dorm with until the person sat down next to her.

"It will be okay, Hermione. At least you know that it will be someone who matches you in every way, and that you won't end up with someone like Malfoy," Ginny said taking one of Hermione's hands in hers.

"I know, but I can't help feel nervous. This is going to affect the rest of my life, and I have no control over it. I tried to read about it in the library, but all the books say different things, and then I read that sometimes people don't dream of anyone. What if I'm one of those people, Ginny? What if I don't have a soulmate?" she said panicking.

"Take a deep breath," Ginny said trying to calm her friend down. "You will have a soulmate, Hermione. You're a kind, brave, and intelligent woman. You deserve someone who will love and care for you, and I'm sure whoever they are, they will do."

"Thank you, Ginny," Hermione said after a short silence.

"It's what friends are for," the younger witch said.

The two of them sat side by side in silence for a little while before Ginny saw the clock turn quarter to midnight.

"I will go now so you can get ready for bed. I will see you tomorrow. Promise me you'll tell me who it is?" Ginny said.

"I promise."

"Night, Hermione."

"Goodnight, Ginny," she said as her friend left the dorm.

It wasn't long before Hermione returned to her bed after getting ready for the night. She closed her curtains as much as she could before turning on her side and closing her eyes.

It didn't take long for her to fall asleep, or to start dreaming.

Hermione looked around and realised that she was standing in one of the fields at the back of the Burrow. She stood still for a moment admiring the view before something tugged at her heart and told her to head right towards the pond they had all swam in during the summer.

She walked quickly not paying much attention to what was around her as she went until she passed through the line of trees to the pond. The sight that greeted her was one which Hermione would not forget in a hurry.

A shirtless and wet Bill Weasley turned and stared at her before making his way over.

Hermione admired his toned chest and the way his muscles rippled as he walked towards her. She had always thought he was attractive since she had met him, but seeing him like this stirred something inside her.

"Hermione," he said before crashing his lips to hers.

The kiss was fierce, demanding, and full of fire. Neither of them wanted it to end but after a few minutes they pulled apart desperate to breathe.

"I've waited for you for a long time," he murmured after a few moments.

"Why did you never say anything?" Hermione asked.

"I wanted to tell you, but you were so young. You needed time to grow up and get used to the idea. I nearly blew it when you went to the Yule Ball with Krum though. Charlie had to stop me from doing something stupid. I didn't think that you would appreciate it finding out like that," Bill answered.

"What about Fleur?"

She had heard from a number of people that the two had dated, but she wanted to hear whether it was true or not from Bill himself.

"Fleur is my colleague and that's it. She tried to persuade me to date her when she first started, but I said no. When I told her it was because of my soulmate she backed off. It's the one bond everyone knows not to mess with," Bill told her.

The dream, that Hermione was sure wasn't just a dream, had not ended there. They had spent what seemed like hours by the pond talking and getting to know one another.

She had woken up smiling and got ready in a trance like state which lasted until Ginny sat down next to her.

"I'm guessing it turned out alright if you're smiling like that," Ginny commented.

"Yes, it certainly did."

"So...who is he?" she asked.

"I can't tell you right now, Gin. You know him and he's a great guy, but he wants us to tell his family all at once and we can't do that until the next Hogsmeade trip," Hermione answered.

The two of them had agreed in the dream that they would wait until they had everyone altogether to tell them.

"Oh, okay."

"I know you're disappointed, but I promise as soon as we've told his family then I will tell you," Hermione assured her hoping that it would appease her friend.

"It's alright, Hermione, I understand. If it was Bill or Charlie who had finally found their soulmates then I would want to know before one of their friends," Ginny said.

Hermione looked into the full length mirror on the inside of her wardrobe trying to work out what to wear. She usually didn't bother dressing up if she was only going to Hogsmeade but this would be the first time she would see Bill since she found out they were soulmates and she wanted to look nice.

"You should wear the black leggings with the green V neck," a voice from behind her said. "It will look smart but not formal, and they should be comfortable."

"Thank you, Lavender," Hermione said taking the clothes she mentioned into the bathroom with her.

It was strange that the other girl would give her fashion advice, but Hermione was thankful she did after conjuring a mirror to see how she looked. The leggings made her legs look a little longer, and the top showed a hint of cleavage. The ensemble made her feel and look good.

Maybe I should ask Lavender for help more often, she thought.

After her, Harry, Ron, and Ginny had breakfast they made their way to the Three Broomsticks to meet Bill. Although it wasn't the most private location to tell the family their news, it was the only one all of them could meet at before Christmas.

Ginny had asked outright if Bill was her soulmate after she had received her letter, but Hermione didn't say anything.

As she walked into the pub, Hermione noticed that Bill was sitting at the end of the booth talking quietly to his father as Molly reprimanded Fred and George for something. The sight brought a smile to her face.

"Gin-Gin!" one of the twins shouted.

All of them looked over to where the four of them stood and Hermione's eyes connected with Bill's.

The whole world melted away until it was only the two of them. Nothing else mattered except each other.

"Yes! I was right!" she could hear Ginny saying beside her.

"Right about what?" Ron said sounding confused.

"Bill and Hermione are soulmates. That's why she's not said anything about it because they wanted to tell all of us together," Ginny said happily.

"Bill?" Molly said.

"It's true, mum. Hermione is my soulmate," he answered never taking his eyes off her.

"That's wonderful!" she exclaimed.

The afternoon went by quickly and soon it was time to return to Hogwarts.

"I don't want to go back," Hermione said sighing as she rested her head on Bill's shoulder.

"I don't want you to go back either, but you have to," he murmured.

She turned towards him, lifted her head, and captured his lips in a kiss.

The kiss was chaste and full of longing and neither of them wanted it to end.
