Repairs
Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by Celtic maiden 14. ENjoy.
While the team had stopped for repairs and supplies, Omega was left to wonder. Hunter was busy in town and wouldn't let her come so she walked over to Tech who was repairing the ship. She watched him repair one of the consoles and Tech looked over.
"Ah, Omega. I take it Hunter wanted you to stay." Tech said.
"Yeah. Can I help?" Omega wondered.
"Of course. This ship requires major repairs after all of our ordeals. I have to rewire and repair almost every part of this ship."
"What can I do?"
"I'm afraid my hands are too small to grab these wires. Come here."
Omega laid beside Tech and saw the wires.
"Pull the wires closer so we can see them better," Tech stated. Omega did as she was told and Tech handed her wire cutters. "See this part of the red wire?"
"The part that's all burnt?" Omega wondered.
"Yes, simply repair this wire will not work. We have to completely replace it. I need you to help me remove it. The wire cutters will be to disconnect it from the panel. It's safe."
"Ok."
Together Tech and Omega replaced the wire and when they were done, Omega smiled. Tech and Omega repaired the console and Tech ran a program.
"Well, this console is fully operational. Now, I must repair the cockpit." Tech sighed.
"Can I help?" Omega wondered.
"Of course."
Omega and Tech spent the next several hours repairing the cockpit's many problems.
"Pliers," Tech said as he held out his hand. Omega handed him the pliers and watched as Tech repaired the door. When he was done, he tested the door and Omega smiled.
"You finished the cockpit. Now what?" Omega wondered.
"Now I must repair the gunner's nest. Meaning you will have to temporarily move out of your room."
"I'll go clean my stuff."
Omega moved her stuff out of her room and helped Tech bring over their tools. Tech lifted the tools up into the gunner's nest and Omega watched him start to repair the gunner's nest.
"You're good at repairing everything," Omega said.
"Not everything. I'm good at fixing mechanical problems and tactical problems, but when it comes to problems between people... that's more Hunter's expertise." Tech replied.
"But you try. I know you do."
"Perhaps."
Tech and Omega repaired the nest and then sat on the steps taking a break.
"I know Hunter and Crosshair had it hard on Kamino, but what about you?" Omega wondered. Tech sighed and looked at Omega.
"My ordeal on Kamino was not like Hunter and Crosshair's. They were abused by the Kaminoans while I was bullied. I suffered some abuse from the Kaminoans, but it wasn't as extreme. I actually enjoyed it except when I was separated from my brothers. The others were bullied, but it wasn't as extreme as what I went through. I was always a target for the regs. They saw me as a nerd and they would take their anger out on me. HUnter said once that they were jealous because of my exceptional mind. I'm not sure if I believe him." Tech explained.
"It must have been hard. It hurts whenever someone calls me a bad name." Omega replied.
"After a while, I learned not to take it personally."
"Liar. We may not be the same, but we are alike. All of us feel things differently from the other clones. All of us take things personally. It's who we are. We're different and it hurts. We want to be like everyone else but we know we can't be so we try to put up with the bullying. We try to laugh it off, but deep down, we wish they understood."
Tech looked at Omega and smiled softly.
"You're right," Tech stated. "We should get back to our repairs before the others return."
"What do we have to fix now?" Omega wondered.
"Various areas in here and then tomorrow will be the exterior."
"Can I help?"
"I will need everyone's help."
Tech climbed down the next and opened a panel next to the ladder. Tech held up his hand and Omega handed him a tool. Tech smiled when he saw that it was the right one. Tech handed Omega the tool and Omega handed him the pliers. The two worked liked this for the next few hours as they repaired the ship. When they were done, they sat on the ground outside the ship and looked at the fauna and flora surrounding them.
Hunter and the others returned and heard chuckling and giggling. They looked to see Tech and Omega lying on the ground being tickled by the planet's native cat.
"Get the repairs done?" Hunter asked.
"We were done a while ago. Thanks to Omega." Tech replied.
"Good. We should get inside before it's dark."
They loaded their supplies into the Marauder and then Omega got ready for bed. She walked over to Tech who was reading on his datapad.
"Is everything alright, Omega?" Tech wondered.
"I'm fine. I was just wondering if I could sleep next to you tonight. I don't like being alone cause of the nightmares." Omega replied. Tech looked to Hunter who nodded.
"Of course."
Omega climbed onto Tech's lap and Tech wrapped the blanket around them. It wasn't long before Omega was out and Hunter smiled.
"You wore her out," Hunter stated.
"She is a very good helper and a good learner. She's even a good listener." Tech replied quietly. "I enjoyed having her help today."
"I'm glad she had something to do here. Wrecker managed to get into couple of fights and we almost got into trouble."
"Typical."
The next day, Omega stayed by Tech's side and helped him with the various repairs around the outside of the ship. Whenever Tech needed help with repairs, he would always call on Omega knowing that she would willing help him.
THE END
