Bonding

Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by Hunterangel14. Enjoy.

Rex and the Bad Batch had just finished a mission together and were on their way home. Everyone was tired including Omega. Hunter was having a sensory overload so Omega offered her room and Wrecker threw Hunter up there. Wrecker was sleeping in the top bunk while Echo slept on the bottom. Tech was sleeping on a sleeping bag on the floor while Crosshair cramped in with Hunter knowing it'd be the quietest and darkest place on the ship. Rex decided to take watch and Omega decided to sleep in one of the chairs.

Rex looked out into hyperspace when he heard Omega walk in. She sat down beside Rex and looked at him.

"Shouldn't you be in bed?" Rex questioned.

"I'm fine," Omega answered.

"That doesn't answer my question."

"I wanted to sit here with you."

The two sat quietly and Rex felt Omega watch him.

"What was the war like?" Omega wondered.

"It wasn't easy. Every day, we went into battle wondering who was gonna survive. We used to serve side by side with the Jedi." Rex explained. Then he chuckled. "We had one Jedi by the name of General Anakin Skywalker. He was reckless but he was brave, loyal, and a good leader. He led my battalion through many battles, but we never had to worry about abandonment and we never had to doubt. His padawan was just as reckless as he was."

"What happened to them?"

"Well, I'm not sure about Skywalker. No one knows, but his padawan left the Jedi order a while before the order went out. In fact, we had been sent to help her and a group of Mandalorians regain control of their planet and defeat an enemy by the name of Darth Maul. We succeeded, but... after a turn of events, everyone died except for myself and Ahsoka."

"I'm sorry. It must have been terrible."

"It was, but I remember those men. I always will. I fight for them. I continue to fight for the ones we've lost."

"I've never met a Jedi."

"And you probably never will."

"Are all Jedi good?"

"I'm not really sure. If they're not, then they're not a Jedi."

"I hear Echo talk about Fives. You knew him, didn't you?" Omega wondered.

"Yes, I did. I was there when he... died. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have known about the chips." Rex sighed.

"It was hard when Hunter was gone, but he wasn't gone forever. It must be hard to lose a friend and a brother."

"It isn't easy."

Omega sat quietly for a little while and Rex chuckled.

"What is it, Omega?" Rex wondered.

"I was wondering if you had any stories about the others," Omega replied.

"Well, I have one."

"What is it?"

"Well, shortly after Echo joined the team, we all got leave for a week. Somehow, we all ended up on Naboo. I didn't have a place to stay but the brothers did and Hunter invited me to stay with them. The place was nice. Only problem was that there were three rooms with only one bed in each. Well, we decided to stick Tech and Crosshair together, Wrecker and Echo together, and then I had Hunter."

"What happened?"

"I was asleep for barely an hour and that brother of yours kicked me out of the bed."

"Hunter?!"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Rex chuckled and faced Omega who was now on the edge of her seat.

"He said that I was snoring in his ear and I had kicked him in the back one too many times. Then we heard Echo yell. We ran into the other room and found Echo being crushed by Wrecker. We managed to wake Wrecker up and get him off of Echo only to hear fighting between Tech and Crosshair. Apparently, Tech stole Crosshair's blanket and pillow and most of the bed. When everyone finally calmed down, we decided to stick me with Crosshair. Hunter took Wrecker, and Tech and Echo got the other room. So we all go back to sleep and an hour later, I wake up to once again hitting the floor." Rex explained.

"Let me guess, Crosshair and Hunter are a lot alike." Omega guessed.

"You'd guess right. Crosshair and I had a fight and then heard fighting coming from Wrecker and Hunter. Hunter said he didn't mind Wrecker because he knew how to handle him, but what he couldn't handle was Wrecker stinking up the room and then shoving his feet into Hunter's chest. Then Hunter rolled over and pulled on Wrecker's ear."

"What? Hunter would never do that. He's not mean."

"He is when he's half-asleep."

"What happened after that?"

Rex thought for a moment and then chuckled.

"Tech and Echo woke up to the fighting and they had to stop it. That's when Tech suggested that he sleep with Hunter. Echo would sleep with Crosshair and I got the big guy." Rex recalled.

"Tech and Hunter? Even I know that's not a good idea. The two are very close when they're awake, but Tech snores like you would not believe and Hunter cannot handle that." Omega said.

"Well, then you probably know what happened. An hour later, Wrecker rolls over and starts crushing me. I shove him off and he wakes up. Then we hear Tech and Hunter yelling at each other. Then we hear Crosshair and Echo fighting. APparently, Echo snores and he shoved his right arm into Crosshair's side. He was also sleeptalking. He yelled at Crosshair in his sleep and sneezed on him. Hunter decides that he'll take Echo. I got Tech and Crosshair got Wrecker."

"I bet those barely survived 10 minutes."

"Actually, they survived a little longer. Tech sleeps like a rock. He was out in two minutes and he was snoring really loud. I rolled him onto his side and he stopped. Echo and Hunter were fine. I heard Hunter groan once but that was it. 2 hours later, Wrecker and Crosshair start yelling, and then Echo and Hunter started fighting. I slapped Tech to help me stop the fighting and then he yelled at me for slapping him. Wrecker had um... gassed off in Crosshair's face and that caused their fighting. When they started Echo jumped and jammed his right arm into Hunter's private spot. So it was more or less Hunter blowing off some steam. When we all calmed down. Crosshair decided that he'd take Hunter. We shoved Tech and Wrecker together and I got Echo. It was fine. I told Echo to sleep on the left side so his right arm was off the bed. Tech didn't even feel Wrecker crush him at first. Crosshair and Hunter were finally asleep. It was fine. Until two hours later."

"What happened?"

"Tech's alarm when off and you could hear Hunter and Crosshair groaning and cursing Tech's alarm. Echo and I groaned but ignored it. Then Wrecker crushed Tech's alarm and Tech didn't even wake up. We slept half the day away. At least Echo and I. We woke up and made lunch for everyone. Wrecker smelt the food and was awake. He crushed Tech causing him to wake up."

"What about Hunter and Crosshair?" Omega wondered.

"Tech predicted that they'd wake up a few minutes later. Hunter's senses would smell the food and hear the commotion and he'd wake up and wake Crosshair." Rex replied.

"But?"

"Well, Hunter woke up, but he wasn't hungry and he could handle our noise. He went back to sleep and Crosshair never woke up. That evening, we were all trying to figure out what to do. Then I get a communication that Cody had gotten leave and wanted to stay with us. He came in and asked where Hunter and Crosshair were. We explained the night to him and he barged right into their room and started barking orders. He thought the two would fall for it, but the next thing he knew, Crosshair and Hunter were throwing pieces of their armor at him. Hunter almost threw his Vibro blade. After that, we just left those two monsters alone. When it came time for bed, Cody decided to bunk with Wrecker and Tech thinking he could handle it. 30 minutes after we all went to bed, Cody walks in and pushing me into the middle. Apparently, he could not handle those two."

Omega laughed and Rex chuckled.

"Whenever we stay someplace, it's always Tech and Echo, Hunter, and Crosshair, and then Wrecker," Omega said.

"Where do you sleep?" Rex wondered.

"Usually with Hunter. I have nightmares when I'm off this ship."

"I see. I don't blame ya, kid. This galaxy is a scary place. Even I have nightmares. I dream of my brothers and generals dying. I dream of innocent people suffering."

"I dream of being separated from my brothers."

"From what I can see, that'll never happen. You're lucky. Your brothers are very protective of you."

"Yeah, I am."

Omega yawned and curled up in her chair. Rex chuckled and picked Omega up and set her on his lap.

"I don't think Hunter would like it if you slept in a hard, uncomfortable chair," Rex said.

"No, he wouldn't." Omega yawned. It wasn't long before Omega was asleep and Rex was left keeping watch. As he looked down at this sleeping figure, he could see why the others would do anything and everything for her. She was indeed precious. Rex thought of Ahsoka and he sighed. He hoped that maybe one day, he'd be reunited with his sister.
