Hermione's brow furrowed slightly as she heard a knock at her front door.

It was ten thirty on Christmas eve and most people she knew were at home putting their children to bed, or out partying. She certainly wasn't expecting anyone to come and visit her.

When she opened the door Hermione was surprised to see Sirius there.

"I hoped you were in, Hermione," he said softly.

"Is everything alright, Sirius?" Hermione asked concerned that something had happened to her friends.

"Yes. No, I don't know," he said as if he was trying figure something out.

"Why don't you come in and we can talk about it. You must be getting cold out here," she said whilst wrapping her dressing gown tighter.

"No, it won't take long so there's no point," Sirius replied as he shook his head.

Hermione stood waiting for him to tell her why he was there. She had an inkling, but didn't dare let the thought form fully in her mind

"You know how they say that Christmas is a time for family and for being honest with them?"

"Yes," Hermione answered.

"I love you, Hermione. I have done for years but I never thought you would want me," Sirius confessed.

"Your a silly man, did you know that, Sirius Black? I have wanted you for years too," Hermione told him as she stretched out her hand to caress his cheek.

"You never said anything," he said as he looked at her face intently.

"I didn't think you would want me either," Hermione confessed.

"Then you're just as silly as I am," he said smiling as he pulled her close to him.

"You look beautiful," he murmured as he leant in and kissed her.

Hermione knew in that moment that they had crossed a line that they could never go back from, but she didn't care. The only thing she cared about was the fact the man she loved was now hers.
