Acceptance
Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by Celtic maiden14. This is set just prior to Hunter and Omega's little scene together in Bounty Lost. Enjoy.
After Hunter explained what they had found out, Omega asked to know more about Jango and Boba. Many questions ran through Omega's head.
"Did he know about me?" Omega wondered.
"Who?" Tech questioned.
"Jango Fett. Did he know about me?"
"Possibly. Chances are, you and Boba were created at the same time. He most likely did know about you, but he probably did not want a daughter."
"Oh."
Omega looked down at her hands and sighed.
"So, I was worthless to him?" Omega wondered. The brothers looked at each other and Hunter knelt in front of Omega.
"To be honest... I have no idea how to answer that question. We're just an altered clone of him. We're not really him. It wouldn't be right for us to answer that question." Hunter admitted helplessly.
"Hey, I guess you're right."
"Huh, this is going to sound harsh, but I'm glad he didn't want you. I think we all can agree that we like having you with us. You're worth a lot to us. You give us a new purpose and you've made us see things differently."
"And I like being here with you."
"Yeah, kid, you're the best thing that ever happened to us." Wrecker chuckled. Wrecker and Omega hugged and Omega looked at her other brothers.
"It is possible that Jango Fett didn't even know about you. The Kaminoans can be quite deceptive." Tech suggested.
"Yeah, I heard Rex, Cody and some of the other first clones say that Jango Fett had a questionable lifestyle, but he was an honest man. HE found out that a couple of other bounty hunters were abusing some of the clones and he put an end to that. A permanent end. When asked why, he said that yes, we were created for war and we had to be strong, he said that torture was not the way to build soldiers. It only created men afraid to do what needed to be done. He never knew about the batch. He never would have approved of your experimentation." Echo explained. Omega nodded and Hunter placed a hand on her back.
"Why don't you go lie down?" Hunter suggested. Omega nodded and went to bed.
She tossed and turned for a few hours as she thought about what her brothers had said.
(This is set after Crosshair returns.)
It had been a rough few months as Omega's body grew and struggled against her. She would often find herself having dark and painful thoughts and nothing was as it seemed. Omega often thought that she wasn't loved and that she wasn't pulling her own weight and would one day fail her brothers to the point that they would forget about her. So she started distancing herself and working harder. She would do everything she possibly could and no one could stop her. Over time, Omega burned herself out and everyone could see it.
Omega walked into the kitchen and saw Hunter cutting veggies.
"Here, I can do this." Omega volunteered.
"No, I got it. Besides, I'm almost done. You should go take a nap. You haven't been sleeping like you should and you've been working yourself into the ground." Hunter answered.
"No, I'm fine. Besides, I want to help. I don't do enough around her."
Hunter stopped what he was doing and looked at Omega.
"Omega, you try to do almost everything around. If anything, it's the other way around. Is something wrong, kid?" Hunter wondered.
"No, I'm fine. I just don't want you guys to feel like I don't pull my own weight." Omega replied. Hunter walked over to Omega and knelt in front of her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and sighed.
"Omega, you do pull your own weight and we love that, but all of us are worried. You're acting weird. At first, we thought it was your age, but... Omega, what's wrong? You can tell me. I want to help."
"Nothing's wrong. I don't want to be a burden."
"You could never be a burden."
"I was to..."
Omega trailed off and looked away. Hunter looked at Omega in confusion and worry.
"To Nala Se? Omega, we all were a burden to them. All we ever did was cause trouble, but you will never be a burden to us." Hunter stated.
"I should go do my homework," Omega answered. She ran upstairs and Hunter sighed.
Omega was very quiet that evening and it obviously worried everyone. After supper, Omega rushed upstairs to her room and sat on her bed reading. She looked up at Jango Fett to see if maybe she could figure out how he felt about her, but came up with nothing. She even looked up Boba Fett. When that came up blank, she sighed and buried herself under her blankets.
The next morning, Omega woke up and saw that it was late in the day. She gasped and jumped out of bed.
"Oh no. I missed school and I missed breakfast and chores." Omega panicked. She quickly changed and ran downstairs and saw her brothers eating lunch. "I'm sorry, I missed school. I don't know why I didn't wake up. Here, I'll clean the dishes and put away the leftovers."
"Omega, we... uh... we turned your alarm off." Echo confessed.
"But... why would you do that? Why would you purposely make me miss school? Did I do something wrong?"
"Omega, you're wearing yourself thin. You do way more than you should and you haven't been taking care of yourself." Tech stated.
"Yeah, we're worried about you. You're not yourself." Wrecker admitted.
"Look, I'm just fine. I just don't want to be a burden to you." Omega exclaimed. She grabbed a knife and started getting veggies. She couldn't stop the tears from falling and Hunter walked over and stop her hands. Omega dropped the knife and fell to her knees crying. "I'm sorry. DOn't send me away." Omega cried quietly.
"Omega, what is this about? We would never send you away." Hunter wondered.
"It's just... I've been thinking a lot about Jango Fett and Boba and why they never took me with them. I thought maybe it was because I wasn't good enough."
"Is that why you've been doing all of this? Omega, you are our sister. We love you. You're stuck with us in the long run."
"I'm sorry."
"Oh, will you stop the waterworks?" Crosshair scoffed.
"Crosshair!" Hunter warned. Crosshair crossed his arms and glared at Hunter.
"I know we can all be a pain in the rear, but I didn't know living with us was that unbearable for ya. Look at you, crying over a man who probably didn't even know of your existence. He didn't about us, why would he have known about you? But at least you have brothers and a home. What would you have gotten with him? He died the day the war started. Like he would have been able to take care of you and the other kid. Heck, I hear he's been in and out of trouble and he's good for nothing. We tried our best to give you a good home, but I guess if you're crying over a dead man and a life you could have had then, I guess we're not good enough for you." Crosshair explained.
"No, you are good enough. It's just..." Omega trailed off.
"It's just that you want something different. You want a father. Look around, kid. All of us want a buir. Like we're gonna get one. We're grown now. It's too late for that. Besides, if he did know about you and he didn't care, then he doesn't sound like a man to be crying over. And neither does the kid."
Omega rushed over to Crosshair and hugged him.
"You're right, but I can't... I can't stop thinking about what it would be like to have a true buir. Not just brothers who are like my buirs." Omega sighed.
"We all thought about that when we were your height. I guess it's normal for orphans. But there's nothing we can do about what could have been. What we have now is all we'll probably ever have. Time to let go of those fears and dreams and start living life the right way." Crosshair stated.
"Ok."
Crosshair placed his hands on Omega's shoulders and looked at Hunter who nodded at him.
After that day, Omega knew that she might never know the truth about Boba and Jango, but it didn't matter. What mattered was that her brothers loved her and she would always be one of them.
THE END
