Unknown

Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by The Generic Ficer. Enjoy.

Tech wasn't known to be afraid of anything and out of all his brothers, he had the least nightmares and night terrors. But what he would never admit was that the one thing that scared him to death was the unknown. When he was doubting his knowledge and abilities, that was when those dreams crept in and wreaked havoc on him. After order 66 and Crosshair and Wrecker's chips activating, Tech's nightmares grew much worse leaving him obviously distraught.

Tech watched as HUnter slashed his brothers with a blood-thirsty look in his eyes. Tech wanted to stop Hunter, but as he watched Hunter take Wrecker down with little trouble, he didn't know what to do. He listened to the screams of his siblings as he hid trying to think of a way out.

"Why did you save me?" A quiet voice asked. Tech looked up and saw Omega.

"I tried to, but..." Tech trailed off. "I don't know how."

"SO much for being clever. Should have known your 'exceptional mind' would fail us when we needed you most." Wrecker scoffed.

"I tried, but it's Hunter. He's been trained to adapt!"

"DO you think I wanted to do this? DO you think I wanted to kill my family? I needed you, Tech. I needed your help. You're supposed to know." Hunter exclaimed.

"We all needed you, Tech, but you hid to save yourself. I hope you can live with yourself." Echo huffed.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know what to do." Tech murmured.

"Liar. You knew what you had to do, but you were a coward. You didn't have the guts to do it. Echo's right. I hope you can live with yourself." Crosshair sneered.

"NO," Tech exclaimed as he covered his ears. The voices of his siblings screaming in his mind. He could see each of his siblings killing each other because of these chips. He could watch, but he couldn't do a thing because he didn't know what to do.

"NO!" Tech exclaimed as he sat up quickly. He looked around, but without his goggles, he couldn't tell where he was. He felt hands lay on his shoulders and he fought the person. "No. Don't touch me. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to let you die."

"Tech, it's me. It's HUnter. It was just another night terror." Hunter assured calmly. Hunter handed Tech his goggles and Tech put them on. He relaxed slightly when he saw Hunter watching him in concern.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For not knowing about the chips and what they were programmed to do. I'm sorry for not knowing how to get out of situations. I have not been the most useful as of late." Tech murmured.

"Is that what your nightmares have been about?" Hunter wondered as he sat beside Tech. Tech nodded and sighed.

"I have been having them more often since..."

"Order 66? Yeah, I know."

"Of course, you knew. Why do I even bother hiding it from you? You always know."

"Unlike you?"

"Yes."

"Tech, you have the most knowledge out of all of us. Because of your knowledge, you are useful in most situations. But even the smartest don't know everything and to be honest, they shouldn't. It takes the fun out of learning."

"But our lives are full of life and death. I have to know."

"But if you knew all the answers, what would happen if you were dead? Who would help us then? Tech, it's ok to not know and it's ok to be wrong. It means you're human. It allows you to have the benefit of the doubt. "

"But I was enhanced to know everything."

"How can you know everything if the people that enhanced you didn't know everything?"

Tech looked at Hunter and huffed.

"I did not think of that. I don't know why." Tech huffed.

"Because you're too hard on yourself." Hunter chuckled.

"And you are one to talk Mr.-I-have-to-lead-this-squad-and-every-failure-is-my-fault."

Hunter chuckled again and nodded.

"I guess we both have a lot to learn. No matter what, it's ok to not know, Tech. We all may tease and pick on ya about your mind, but we don't expect you to be perfect." Hunter assured.

"Thank you, Hunter." Tech thanked.

"Need anything?"

"Maybe..."

"Yes?"

"Could you stay with me tonight? I don't think I want to be alone."

"Sure, Tech. ANytime."

Tech laid down and moved over so Hunter could lie down next to him. It wasn't long before Tech was sound asleep and Hunter smiled softly when he heard his little brother's snores.
