A/N: This is for the rarepair_shorts prompt 'severe repercussions', and for the 'Up to 50 Pairings' challenge.

I watched as the woman my brother and I loved was dragged before the Dark Lord.

Her pale skin was marred with bruises and cuts, and her clothes were torn and dirty.

I had to fight the urge to go to her and take her away from this place.

Rabastan and I always knew this day would come, but we hoped it would be many years from now.

Hermione was one of the biggest targets in the war as she fought for the Order, and because she was said to be the brains behind Potter's operation. That's why she had a sizable bounty on her head and was wanted as much as Potter was.

"Rodolphus, teach this mudblood a lesson. Don't go too far though. I still want to question her," the Dark Lord commanded.

My stomach dropped.

The last thing i wanted was to hurt her, but if i didn't then he would kill us both.

If you hesitated even for a second then not only will you be punished, but your loyalty will be questioned.

"Of course, my lord," I said, bowing to him before walking to where she stood.

Hermione looked beautiful even with tear streaks down her dirty face and a split lip. Her face wore a fierce expression but I could see a flicker of fear deep in her eyes.

"Crucio," I said, trying to muster the hate I needed to cast the spell.

I thought of Bellatrix and everything she had done to make me hate her. I knew it had worked when I heard a scream slip through her lips.

The sound tore my heart apart, but I didn't stop.

Hermione had specifically told him and Rabastan that she would rather go at their hands than any other because she knew that they would give her the mercy of a quick death unless ordered otherwise. It seemed as if she would get her wished, and it would kill him in the process because there was no coming back from something like this.
