Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by Roscava Sliena Natasha. ENjoy.
Hunter spent his life looking over his shoulder because of who he was. He had many secrets. Secrets that only his batch and the kaminoans knew and a secret that only he and Crosshair knew. One that could get him killed if he was ever found out.
On one mission, when the batch was in trouble, HUnter knew that something had to give in order for them to get out safely. He saw a structure above them and signaled to his brothers.
"I need everyone to move well away from the area. I know how to save us, but it could risk all of you getting hurt." Hunter stated.
"Hunter, don't do this. You know what will happen if you do." Crosshair warned looking over the situation.
"I have to, Crosshair. Get out of there and meet everyone at the ship."
"Yes, sir."
Hunter watched as his siblings wordlessly did as they were told. Hunter focused on the structure over him. He held out his hand slightly and with a move of his hand, the structure fell around HUnter killing the TK troopers but leaving him and his family unharmed. HUnter felt a wave of dizziness pass over and he grunted. This was an overload in the making. He looked up at his family and saw them looking at him in shock. He rushed to them and panted.
"Let's go home," Hunter stated. IT was a quiet walk to the Marauder. When they arrived, Hunter set his helmet down and Tech and Echo flew them out of there. Everyone looked at Hunter and then away except for Crosshair.
"You shouldn't have done that." Crosshair sighed.
"I had to. Besides, they would have found out eventually." Hunter sighed as he rubbed his forehead.
"Overload?"
"Yeah. It's worse now without the Jedi."
Echo glared at the two and stood up to face them.
"Why didn't you tell us? The Jedi are being hunted and you're basically one of them." Echo exclaimed. "How long have you known?"
"Since before I met the others. I found out accidentally and when I realized what I had done, I did all I could to hide it. When we started training, Crosshair… he saw me use the force. HE promised not to tell anyone. No one knows." Hunter explained.
"That you know of. The Kaminoans probably knew and that means that you're probably the real reason the Empire's after us."
"Why didn't you ever tell us?" Omega wondered.
"I didn't want you to get hurt. Besides, it was like an advantage that we had. I only used it when I had to. I never dared use it beyond that. It hurt too much." HUnter answered.
"Your overloads." Tech realized.
"Yeah. Look, I'm sorry. I understand you're angry. Just… don't."
"DOn't what? Don't be afraid? DOn't push you out when you've pushed all of us out? You lied to us and now you expect us to ignore this and move on? You're the reason we're in this mess. I can't even look at you." Echo yelled.
"I…" Hunter swallowed and looked around.
"You're not fit to lead us. You never were. You couldn't trust us so you lied and hid from us." Tech replied. Hunter felt his heart drop and he looked at his batch.
"Please, I'm… I'm sorry. I didn't want to lie. I just… I was trying to protect you."
"You would have been protecting us better if you had told us the truth. We could have helped ya better. Could have taken better steps to keep the EMpire off our backs. Tech's right. You can't lead us." Wrecker stated.
"The inquisitors have been after us for the past several months. Here we thought it was because Crosshair had returned to us, but… it was because of you. They can sense you here with us. You're putting us in danger." Echo exclaimed.
"I swear. No one knows about me." Hunter swore.
"How can you be sure? You don't know a thing."
Hunter looked at his siblings and lastly at Crosshair who was looking away from everyone. Crosshair finally looked at Hunter who was begging him not to reject him.
"No one knows about Hunter." Crosshair stated.
"Ad how do you know? You probably told them." Wrecker scoffed.
"I would never have told them about Hunter. I didn't tell them a karking thing about any of you. I have all of my memories from my time with the EMpire. They are all real. I never said a thing and I never would have. Hunter has led us out of danger and taken care of us even when it's too much for him. His abilities come from the fact that he can use the force. Can you imagine what he could have done, but choose not to do? He could have prevented me from joining the Empire quickly and easily, but he didn't." Crosshair explained.
"Because he didn't want to. To save his own neck." Echo spat.
"HE DID IT TO SAVE ALL OF US! Can you imagine what the Empire would have done to him and to us if they knew about his abilities? They would have killed us and used us against him. They would have kept us hostage and made him kill many people and do many horrible things against his will. They would have easily broken him and us. I survived with the Empire alone. I had to and I hated being there, but I was there."
"By why didn't he use the force to save us?" Omega wondered. "Think of the things that could have gone differently if he had."
"Think of all the things that could have gone wrong. HUnter may have an advantage, but it's one that he wasn't meant to have. Because he has to hide it day in and day out, when he does use it, it nearly kills him. When he does use the force, he's vulnerable. The EMpire would have ample opportunities to capture him." Crosshair explained. "We're a family. A family protects each other and accepts each other. Regardless of the lies. Nothing changes that. Nothing ever should. We love each other no matter what. Hunter has done that day in and day out. He has protected us and nearly killed himself time and time again and this is the love he gets in return. This is the appreciation that he gets. He shows each of us love and appreciation and acceptance when we've hidden a lie from him, but you can't do the same for him? What good is any of you? If Hunter can't lead, then we're as good as dead. If you reject HUnter and he leaves, I leave with him."
Crosshair took Hunter out of the cockpit and left the others alone. He helped Hunter to a bunk and took care of him.
"Did you really mean what you said?" Hunter wondered.
"I never say something I don't mean and you know it." Crosshair sneered.
"Thank you, Crosshair. FOr everything."
"Get some sleep before you become a basket case."
Hunter nodded and tried to sleep. Omega walked out and looked down at Hunter.
"Is it really hard for him to use the force?" OMega wondered.
"Yes, it is. He's not trained and he spends his time hiding it." Crosshair sighed.
"Would you really leave with him?"
"Do I ever say something I don't mean?"
"No."
An hour later, Hunter woke up feeling slightly better, but still very weak and tired. He saw his brothers and sister sitting around and he swallowed the lump in his throat.
"How do you feel?" Crosshair asked as he handed HUnter a canteen.
"A little better, but not much," Hunter replied.
"Perhaps you should try meditation and using your abilities a little more often and training them as normal force users would," Tech suggested.
"It's worth a try, I guess."
"We can set your room up when we get home."
"Thanks."
"Here, you should eat something. It'll be a while before we get home." Omega said as she handed Hunter a ration bar. "I'm sorry I was mean to you. I know you had no choice and I know you only hid the truth to protect me."
"Thanks, kid," Hunter replied. "I accept your apology." Hunter shoved Tech and chuckled. "And yours."
"I… did not apologize as of yet, but I do offer my apology. I was wrong for how I behaved."
"I was wrong too. I know you would never try to hurt us or lie to us. I'm sorry I said what I said." Wrecker said.
"I forgive you, Wrecker."
"Oh, thanks."
HUnter turned to Echo who was looking away.
"I know you've been through a lot. Lost a lot of people. I'm sorry, Echo." Hunter said.
"But it doesn't excuse my behavior. I was wrong for what I said about you leading and I was wrong about you being the reason the EMpire's after us. I'm sorry I was so hard on you." Echo apologized.
"I forgive you, Echo."
"I know the Jedi I served with meditated and practiced daily to help with their abilities. Maybe it'll help you."
"Yeah. Tech's gonna help me."
When they arrived home, they did all they could to help Hunter better understand and better control his abilities. Hunter never had quite the abilities that the Jedi had, but it was good enough for him and he was happy.
