Family

Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by Locitapurplepink. ENjoy.

Omega sat in her classroom writing down her assignments.

"Class, I have a special assignment for all of you. You all will write and recite an essay about your families, mainly your parents. You have two weeks to complete this assignment." The teacher stated.

Omega watched as the kids around her whispered and cheered in excitement. She heard them whispering about how great their parents are and what they'll write about, but Omega had nothing to say. She didn't know what parents were. She didn't even have parents. After school, she started walking home.

"Hey, Omega. What are you going to say about your parents?" Hera wondered.

"Huh, clones don't have parents. They have donors. Little Omega here is just an orphan. She'll fail her report. I bet she won't even come to school." Jemla scoffed.

"Leave her alone, Jemla."

"Why should I? She's not even a real person. She's less than a droid."

Jemla pushed Omega to the ground and walked away.

"I'm sorry, Omega." Hera apologized.

"It'[s not your fault." Omega sighed.

"What will you write about?"

"I'll think of something."

Omega walked home sadly. Hunter saw her walk up and he went to greet her.

"What's wrong? Did something happen at school?" Hunter questioned.

"No. Nothing happened." Omega lied.

"Wrecker made your favorite. Mej fruit cookies."

"I'm not hungry."

"Omega, what happened?"

"Nothing."

"You're lying to me. Did that Jemla girl say something?"

"Yes, but it doesn't matter.

"Omega, if it didn't matter then why are you upset?" Hunter wondered.

"I don't want to talk about it." Omega replied. She ran inside and upstairs to her room. She placed her books on her desk and then sat on the floor and cried.

A few days later, Omega was sitting at her desk looking down at her datapad. She sighed and searched what parents were, but it wasn't much help.

"Hhm, my brothers do all of this for me, but they're not parents." Omega sighed.

"Omega. Time for dinner." HUnter stated.

"COming."

Omega walked downstairs and grabbed her dinner. She sat down at the table and started to eat.

"Tech, what are parents?" Omega wondered.

"Parents are people who care for their child. They nurture, discipline, teach, and much more. WHy do you ask?" Tech replied.

"It's for a school assignment. We have to talk about our families. Mainly parents."

"Well, technically speaking, our father was Jango Fett, but he didn't want anything to do with any of us. He only cared about Boba."

"So, am I an orphan?"

"Well, Boba is dead and we're only your brothers, so I guess so." Echo sighed.

"Oh. I guess I'm not going to pass this assignment." Omega replied.

The next day, Omega was playing with her friends.

"Omega, you should be the mom." Yi said.

"How can I be the mom when I don't know what a mom does? I don't have a mom or a dad." Omega replied. "I don't have much of a family."

"AT least you have brothers. I only have sisters."

"True."

For the next few days, Omega would try to work on her report, but nothing sounded or looked right. One evening, she huffed and set down her datapad. She looked outside and saw HUnter and Marla walking to the house holding hands and talking. Omega sighed and walked downstairs. She saw Marla sitting on the porch while Hunter helped Wrecker fix the shed roof. Omega sat beside Marla and looked at Marla.

"Marla, did you have a family?" Omega wondered.

"Yes, I did. WHy?" Marla replied.

"It's homework. We have to write an essay about our families. Mainly our parents. All of my friends have parents and I feel like my family's incomplete because I don't."

"Omega, my parents died when I was little. Pirates came to my homeworld and turned my parents into miners. When my parents couldn't keep up with the demands of the pirates, they were killed. I had good parents that loved me. I was lucky. Some kids have parents and they're good parents, but the child doesn't like them and some have very horrible parents who abuse them and all they wish for are parents who loved and nurtured them. Besides, I don't think families should only consist of a father, mother, and children. You and your brothers. You're a family. A complete family. They love, nurture, discipline and care for you. They protect you and help you. In a way, I think everyone has someone in their family that is like a mother and a father." Marla explained.

"Who would be like my parents?" Omega wondered.

"HUnter and Echo. Echo fusses over you like a mother would and Hunter disciplines and helps you like a father would."

"They do act like my parents."

The girls giggled and Omega smiled.

"So, I could write about the moments Hunter and Echo cared for me like real parents would and how we all work together to create a complete family." Omega realized.

"Yes, you could. Now, go get to your essay. I bet you have a lot of thoughts to write down." Marla answered.

"I do. Thanks, Marla."

Omega ran inside and started on her essay. When it was time for the assignment to be turned in, Omega was ready. She stood in front of her class with her essay in her hands.

"Unlike most of you, I do not have a biological or adoptive mother or father, but I do have many brothers. I am lucky because I have a brother that is like a mother to me. His name is Echo. He fusses over me. He makes sure I have clean clothes, clean room and bedding, and lunch for school. He makes sure I do my homework and he makes sure that the house is clean and fresh. When I'm sad or sick, he takes care of me. I also have a brother that's like a father to me. His name is Hunter. He's there to correct me when I'm wrong. He makes sure that the house isn't falling apart and he fixes whatever needs fixing. He teaches me how to survive and he protects me when people try to hurt me. When I need help with my homework, he's there to help. He's also there to listen when I need to vent to someone. In the evening, he plays games with me or watches a movie with me. He makes sure I go to bed and do my chores.

"I am very grateful for my family. I love how my family works together when we're in danger on a mission and when we're here at home. I love how my family plays and teases each other. When one person is sad or sick, everyone cares for them and helps them till they are better. My favorite memories are of my brother Wrecker falling down the stairs and putting a hole in the wall. HUnter fixes the wall while Echo cleans up after him with Tech lecturing Wrecker and Crosshair teasing him. Many times, I watch my brother Hunter try to teach Wrecker, Tech, and Echo how to cook and bake only for them to nearly burn the house down.

"I enjoy working with Hunter whether it be in the kitchen, in the yard, or in the woods hunting. I learn how to try new hobbies and how to stay calm. I enjoy helping Echo repair our ship and shopping with him. I learn how to behave and how to understand people. I enjoy getting candy and playing with Wrecker. I also enjoy learning to to disarm and set bombs. I learn how to have fun and how to be kind. I enjoy sitting with Crosshair and watching the world around us. I also enjoy target practice with him. With Crosshair, I learn patience and silence. I enjoy learning and researching with Tech. I also enjoy flying with him. Tech makes me learn everything I possibly can about ships and controls. With Tech, I learn how to identify and understand technology and cultures.

"My family may not be normal, but that's ok because every family is different and should be different. I would never trade my family for anything else in the world. I love them very much and I know they love me." Omega read aloud.

Omega went home with an A- on her report. Everyone was happy for her and Omega had learnt a few helpful and meaningful lessons about family.
