Imperial

Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by SliverJedi17. Enjoy.

One minute, Hunter was fighting alongside his brothers with Depa and Kanan. The next, he was alone with Rampart and Tarkin. He had faint memories of a girl and his brothers, but what he did remember were the tests and the missions and his new squad.

Crosshair was keeping watch. They had barely managed to escape after Ryloth. He looked to see Omega sleeping. He hated to admit it, but the kid made an impression on him. Crosshair didn't know how he was going to get his brother back, but he knew that he had to save Hunter.

The first thing Hunter saw when he woke was his brothers waiting next to him. He had no recollection of what had happened, but he did know that whatever had happened was over.

"You're safe, Hunter." Echo stated. "Take your time."

Over the next few days, Hunter's memory returned and all he remembered was the horror he had inflicted. The batch could see it tearing HUnter apart and it broke their hearts. They watched as Hunter would be playing with his blade and then he would set it aside as though he was ashamed of what he had done with it. One minute, he would be talking and getting to know Omega, and the next, he would be staring off and would go off on his own.

One evening, Hunter paced the ship rubbing his head trying to calm his stormy nerves.

"Why is Hunter sad?" Omega wondered.

"He's ashamed of what he did." Echo sighed.

"But he didn't want to hurt people. He had no choice."

"He doesn't see it that way."

Omega walked over to Hunter and handed him a ration bar.

"Here, you need to eat," Omega said.

"I'm not hungry," Hunter murmured.

"Why are you ashamed?"

"What?"

"The others say you feel ashamed for doing things that you had no control over."

"I could have tried harder."

"Rex said he tried harder, but it didn't matter. In fact, it made it harder."

Omega walked away and Hunter shook his head. He walked out of the ship and watched the sunset. He sat on a boulder trying to calm his anxious heart.

"None of it was your fault. You never wanted to hurt those people. We should have rescued you sooner." Crosshair stated.

"Is that all I have to tell myself? That it wasn't my fault?" Hunter wondered.

"It's a start." Echo sighed. "Talking about it is another thing you can do."

"I don't want you guys to deal with this."

"Hunter, we want to help you. But we can't if you don't let us." Wrecker said. He placed a hand on Hunter's shoulder and Hunter sighed.

"I feel like I'm drowning. Everything seems foggy and distant. I don't know what to do?" Hunter sighed.

"Consider what you endured. That is not surprising. I have read about the effects of brainwashing. We can help you. if you let us." Tech stated. Hunter nodded and the batch helped him through his painful and horrendous memories.

It took a long time for Hunter to finally come to terms with his grief and pain, but when he did, it was worth it. The batch helped him every step of the way and never did Hunter feel alone or unloved.
