Hell must be frozen over by now. Frozen solid. No way it can't be, right? I mean, God, I don't remember ever being this cold. Beyond teeth chattering and into fetal position, the only though going through your numb brain being that of how to get warm, how to get to someplace that is warm. Listing the places that you'd like to be instead of here. I'm sure he's cold, too. Everyone's cold. All bundled up, but still freezing. I have half a mind to scoot closer to him, if I didn't know he'd kick my skinny ass all over the place. Maybe he's too cold to do that right now. Forget it, I'll never hear the end of it.
Whoever's bone headed idea this was surely hasn't been here in winter. Maybe not at all. I know it wasn't Cragen because he's standing about ten feet away. From my experience, bald men don't voluntarily go somewhere this cold and not have a hat. That's just pure stupidity. So I lent him my hat. I've got hair, it'll keep me warm enough, right?
Wrong. My ears feel about ready to fall off, and my nose has seen better days. I can't really tell, but I'm pretty sure I look like Rudolph. And besides, even if I dared take my glove off, I probably wouldn't feel anything anyway, as the gloves have failed me miserably and my fingers are icicles. Definitely a bad idea. Bad, bad, bad idea.
"Would you go already, Munch?"
I turn around and face Elliot, who I must say looks quite comical on skis. Then again, I have a feeling I look even worse than he does. "If you're in such a hurry, go ahead. I've no inclination to speed down a hill with the possibility of breaking my neck along the way."
"It's the fricken bunny hill!" Despite the cold, I want to laugh at hearing the word 'bunny' coming out of my partner's mouth. He'll hear from me later, though, no doubt about that.
"Have you looked at it lately? Just twenty minutes ago, while getting our skis, I watched a little girl fall at the bottom of the hill."
"You know, I saw her, too." Just as I think he's about to agree with me, Elliot continues with, "She got right back up, laughed and went back to the top. Now, go!" And before I can stop him, he gives me a good shove on the back.
Oh, shit.
