Illusions
Hello, everyone. This prompt was suggested by SliverJedi17. Enjoy.
The Empire had bombed a facility that the batch had been in. What had started as a simple mission was now rubble. The batch made it out alive and unharmed.
"We should get ourselves checked out when we get back to the ship," Hunter suggested as they rushed to their ship. When they got in, Tech piloted them off the planet and to hyperspace. Hunter grabbed the medcanner and examined everyone, but not himself.
"Is everyone alright?" Tech asked.
"I just finished checking. Everyone is clean including us." Hunter replied.
"Good, but we should still take some time off. We may be in good shape, but the ship could use some work."
"Sounds like a plan."
They arrived home safely and they began to repair their ship. Hunter was in the refresher taking his shower when he saw the large gash on his back. He took care of it the best he could and then changed into clean clothes. He walked downstairs and helped his siblings repair the ship.
Over the next couple of days, he kept an eye on his wound and saw that it wasn't getting better. He rewrapped it and sighed. He walked downstairs and saw his brothers cleaning up the kitchen while Omega sat at the table catching up on some homework.
"I'm almost done with my homework," Omega said without looking up.
"Good," Hunter replied. He walked over to make some caff when all of a sudden, he collapsed. Omega rushed to Hunter's side.
"Tech, it's Hunter. He's hurt." Omega exclaimed. Tech rushed over with a medscanner and examined Hunter.
"It seems he had a gash that he forgot to mention. It's infected. He needs to go to the hospital." Tech explained. They rushed Hunter to the hospital and they waited as he was treated.
"Why didn't Hunter tell us he was injured? He said he had checked himself over." Omega said.
"He lied. He didn't check. I watched him. I should have said something." Crosshair scoffed.
"He wouldn't have admitted that he was injured," Tech stated.
"Heh, I still could have said something."
"It doesn't matter now. What does matter is that Hunter's being treated and he'll be just fine." Echo said.
A little while later, they were allowed to see Hunter who was still being treated.
"Infection's almost gone. Then I can go home." Hunter said.
"Why didn't you tell us about the wound? It was large and deep. You had a high fever and were very weak." Omega explained.
"I didn't want to burden you. It seems like one of us is always getting injured on a mission. Thought maybe it would heal without anyone knowing it was there. Guess I was wrong."
"Yeah, well don't do it again. Some of us would like to keep our hearts in place." Wrecker stated. Hunter chuckled and nodded.
"I won't do it again, Wrecker." Hunter chuckled.
Hunter did not keep his promise, but he tried the next he could. There were times when he had to hide his injuries so that he could protect his family.
