Omega and Hera Kept talked on their way home from school.
"I wish we could have a night where we could stay up and talk." Omega sighed.
"We can. It's called a sleepover. I can come over to your house for the night and we can do all sorts of girly and fun things." Hera replied.
"Do you think your parents would say yes?"
"I don't know. Think your brothers will say yes?"
"I guess we'll see."
The girls ran home with their idea. Hera ran home and told her parents her idea.
"Well, we wouldn't mind, but what do Omega's brothers think?" Mr. Kept questioned.
"She should be asking them now," Hera replied.
Omega had just finished telling Hunter and Echo the idea.
"So, can I?" Omega wondered.
"Where would you have this sleepover?" Hunter asked.
"Well, Hera's house is smaller and she has her two siblings. We were thinking about having it here."
"I see. I guess if it's alright with her parents, you two can have the day after tomorrow."
"Great. Thanks, Hunter."
Omega and Hera planned their sleepover and when the night came, they had a lot of fun. When Hera arrived, she got settled into Omega's room which luckily had a bunkbed in it. Then they played outside till it was time for supper. After supper, they watched a holomovie and then got ready for bed. They talked in Omega's room for a long while.
"What's it like when you're off-world?" Hera wondered.
"It depends. Sometimes it's like here, but most of the time it's really dangerous and there's a lot of fighting." Omega replied.
"What about the planets?"
"Well, there are some like here. Then there are desert worlds and ocean worlds, and all sorts of planets. Each one with unique cultures and ways of life. Why do you ask?"
"I just… there's so much to this galaxy and I've only seen 1 other planet. I just feel like I'm missing out."
"You'll get to see the galaxy one day. Hopefully, when you do this war will be over. It's getting harder for us to complete our missions. It seems like the Empire is always one step ahead of us. Each mission seems more dangerous than the one before it. You're lucky. You don't see what I see."
"If you don't like fighting, why do you do it?"
"Because I can and for those who can't."
An hour later, the girls heard groaning coming from the bathroom. They peaked out and saw Hunter wearing a silk cap. He was on his way to bed and they could tell he wasn't too happy. They closed the door and tried not to snicker.
"Why does he wear that when he obviously hates it?" Hera asked.
"He has something going on with his scalp. The only way it goes away is if he wears that." Omega replied.
"I wouldn't want to be him."
"He doesn't look great in it."
"No, he doesn't.
The girls talked for a little while longer before hearing more noises.
"What's that?" Hera asked.
"I don't know. Usually, I'm asleep by now." Omega replied.
"Want to see what it is?"
"Let's go."
The girls opened the door and crept into the hallway. They walked downstairs quietly and saw the commotion in the back room. They peeked in and saw someone moving around.
"Tech? What's he doing down here?" Omega wondered.
"Let's go see," Hera suggested.
"No. He's sleepwalking."
"How do you know?"
"Hunter and Echo talked about it a while ago. Tech works on projects in his sleep. He has since he was our age."
"What are you two doing down here?" A voice questioned. The girls jumped and looked to see Echo coming out of the kitchen.
"What are you doing down here?" Omega questioned.
"I couldn't sleep so I decided to do some midnight cleaning. Now, what are you two doing down here?" Echo asked.
"We heard you and Tech making noises."
"Yeah, he's sleepwalking again. Go back to bed. I'll make sure he doesn't kill himself."
Hera and Omega walked back upstairs to Omega's room.
"Well, tonight has been eventful," Hera said.
"Yeah, who knew my brothers had such weird sleeping habits."
"Weird is an understatement."
The girls went to sleep and the next morning, they woke to the batch making breakfast. After breakfast, Hera helped Omega with chores, and then they played in the woods. They pretended that they were exploring other worlds and seeing new creatures. Lunchtime came and the girls ate quickly before continuing their game.
"Hera, it's time to go home." Mrs. Kept said.
"Aw." Hera groaned.
"You two have played a whole day. You'll have other chances to play."
"I know. See you Omega."
"See you, Hera."
Hera went home and Omega walked inside to clean her bedroom.
"SO, did you have fun?" Hunter asked.
"Yeah. It was a lot of fun." Omega chuckled.
"Glad to hear it. Maybe you two can do it again."
"Uh, not till you get rid of that nightcap. You look… not so great in it."
"Heh, tell me about it. I'm giving that thing up. It isn't helping."
Omega and Hera had other sleepovers and each time, they had a lot of fun and got to know each other even more.
