The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
They have been back on Earth now for seven months. And within that time, things were slowly getting better for the small family. Or shall we say, getting better for Frieza. The others still didn't talk with him all that much since he came here with Mia and their daughter.
Of course, he didn't blame them. After all, you cannot erase years of malice and animosity between the Z-Fighters and one of their biggest foes. The only one who really ever talked to him was Goku whenever he saw him. Bulma would try and be civil as well. Videl who never witnessed his heinous deeds would also chat with him from time to time.
There was some good news at least. Sorcha and Yamcha started seeing each other. And about a month and a half ago, started dating. Mia was happy for her friend. It was nice seeing the alien woman finally having a life after so many years in servitude. Fingers crossed it keeps going well for the couple. She's hopeful they could make it work. If not, for Sorcha's sake, since Mia can't recall the last time, she has ever seen her this happy.
Lord Beerus and Whis would hold conversations with him whenever they came down to Earth. Whis would seldom ask how he's been adjusting to Earth. In which Frieza has been giving him the same response so far. That everything is fine and he's taking it one day at a time. In truth, the former tyrant did grow to like living on this world and didn't have a problem with it.
It was just a slow process with the rest of the Z-Fighters that made it a bit awkward. At least they still had good relations with Mia and the baby. After Mia explained how she met Goku and Bulma, it's understandable how years of friendship wouldn't be strained because of her involvement with him.
"I know you are busy taking care of your child at the moment. But if you really want things to work out with you and the others, you really should take up training with Goku and Vegeta. I feel that is what will help you cement your alliance with them and everyone else here." Whis explained.
Whis and Lord Beerus were currently at Frieza and Mia's Home. She was in the kitchen making everyone lunch. Frieza offered to help, but she shooed him out of the kitchen and told him she was fine and to go chat with the Deity and his Attendant. Mia placed Liana in his arms before he exited the back door. He brought his daughter out onto the nice patio they had in the backyard.
The Destroyer and Angel were sitting at the rectangular wooden picnic table by the flower beds. It was a nice little area that was half shaded by a large tree and Mia planted a bunch of flowers a month prior. She planted them around the edge of the cobblestone ground where the picnic table sat. It was a decent size area with a couple lounge chairs and a small fire pit off to the side.
Frieza approached them with his baby Liana in his arms. Birds flew by chirping overhead through a bright sunny sky. They couldn't have picked a better afternoon for an outdoor lunch. The temperature was quite warm, typical for a mid-June day.
They both were drinking tea and enjoying the scenery. Whis smiled and gave Frieza a nod in greeting. While Lord Beerus sat there with a slightly bored expression on his face. The former Emperor took a seat not far from Whis. And they started conversing, eventually their conversation turned to the topic at hand. Which was about his training and possibly combining his with the saiyans. In other words, training together.
The former tyrant sighs, "It's not that easy, Whis. You can't mend years of animosity and hate just like that. This is something that will take a lot of time. And even then, I doubt they will ever fully trust me. And I don't blame them, given all the atrocities I subjected them to. Vegeta especially. I killed his father and made him serve me since his youth. I made him execute all forms of chaos on other worlds in my name. And let's not forget that I killed him on Namek and threatened to do so again after I was resurrected the first and second time."
"And yet, you all worked so well together at the Tournament of Power. Don't even try to say you did it to save yourself either. There was more to it than that. Despite stating that you didn't care about anyone or anything then, I believe you did care. Otherwise, you wouldn't have fought as hard as you had. Why else do you think I asked Whis to revive you afterwards? Because I knew there was so much more you could do in life. And look where it led you. You met someone special, had a child with them, and live in a nice home on a nice world." Lord Beerus stated, as a matter of fact.
Frieza arched an eye ridge.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you predicted this outcome for me, even then." The former tyrant pointed out.
Lord Beerus shook his head.
"No, I may have a few prophetic dreams here and there. One of which that led me to a Super Saiyan God, or close to it at least. But nothing that would've led to what your future would be. I just been around for so many millennia that I know a dedicated fighter with heart when I see one. Yours just happened to be under many layers of ice for most of your life up until recently. And all that was curtesy of your overconfident arrogant father." The Destroyer implied.
"I don't know, My Lord. I think the biggest turning point in his life is when he crossed Goku's path. Once everything was set in motion on Namek, that's when everything started to change for him. All events are what eventually led him to this point. It's only coincidence that he crossed paths with Mia who happened to be an old friend of Goku and Bulma's." Whis chimed in.
"Now you're just making it all sound like it was fate." Frieza said, as he continued to cradle Liana in his arms.
"And it may as well be. Think about it. If you hadn't met Goku, you really think this is where your life would be now?" Whis inquired.
"No, though as much as I hated the fact of ever running into Goku, I am happy where life led me to now. And I wouldn't change it for anything. It's just as far as training goes, it will be a very slow process. I'm well aware that Goku would jump at the chance of training with me and that's not the issue. The issue involves both how I feel about it and Vegeta.
I was so used to either training solo or using one of my Elites for sparring that the mere thought of training with those monkeys made me want to wretch. It is something that still feels odd to this day to even think about. I can only think of one reason why I would be willing to agree in doing so. And that reason is so I can continue to grow stronger so that I may protect my family as well as this world from any threats that may occur." Frieza explained.
"Those are some valid reasons. And speaking of getting stronger, are you going to tell us a little more about this new form you reached in your training recently?" Whis asked.
Lord Beerus gave Frieza his full attention too. Eager to hear some more about this new and powerful level he reached.
Frieza started from the beginning, when he took up training full time again both before and during the many months Mia was in his company aboard his ship and at Home Base. He explained that it wasn't easy at first getting there. But the end results did eventually have him shattering his limits once again. And that once he managed the new form, he found it surprisingly easier to hold and master than his golden form. It also didn't drain him as much or as easily as his golden form either.
The conversation continued on for another ten to fifteen minutes. Until Mia started bringing out the food. It wasn't a huge buffet that they tend to have whenever they ate over at Bulma's. It was a couple of Mia's own recipes including dessert.
The food ended up being a big hit with Lord Beerus and Whis. That the Angel ended up asking for one of the recipes afterwards. Frieza still found the pair humorous, as far as their love of food goes. Hard to believe someone with the power to erase you from existence and decimate worlds with the snap of his fingers has a guilty pleasure when it came to gourmet foods and cuisines.
Mia rather enjoyed the company as well. And here she used to be a bit fearful and on guard around the divine beings that once almost annihilated Earth. Now she can see what Bulma and the others see in them.
Though it caught her off when they mentioned Liana's power. Commenting how she is still getting stronger as she gets a little older. Of course, Frieza already knew about this. He was well aware of his daughter's high power level before she was even born.
"I must say, Frieza, I think your daughter truly has a lot of potential. She may very well surpass you one day. With the proper training, she could reach divine territory. Especially, with her latent abilities." Whis informed him.
He looked down at his baby girl. Who fell asleep a few minutes ago and was curled into his chest. He runs his fingers through her soft hair with a small smile. Frieza really doesn't have a doubt in his mind that with her, it was very possible.
"I know. I had a vague idea that that would be the case right before she was born. Though I guess it shouldn't have come as a surprise. My blood line always seems to have a tendency to produce very powerful warriors. Still, I won't push her. Whatever Liana decides to do with her life, we will always support her." He says.
A soft smile appears on Mia's face. She recalls having this conversation some time ago when it came to their little girl. Even though she has the talent and potential to be a gifted and powerful warrior, it doesn't mean they will force her into that role when she's older. They will be happy with whatever profession she chooses.
They all continued chatting until mid-afternoon. Until Lord Beerus and Whis decided to say their goodbyes and leave. The divine pair thanked them for the delicious lunch. Before Whis tapped his staff on the ground and they disappeared in a flow of iridescent lights. Afterwards, the small family decided to head inside to their airconditioned house to cool off. Seeing as the afternoon grew hotter as time went on.
"That was a nice visit. Hope to have them over again someday." Mia said.
"Agreed, plus they can be quite comical at times. It's certainly amusing when Whis does things to rattle Lord Beerus." Frieza says, with some laughter in his voice.
Mia winces, "I don't know about that. Lord Beerus can get a little chaotic when push comes to shove with him. It certainly wasn't all that fun when he got mad at something Whis said while they were at Bulma and Vegeta's, and in his anger, Lord Beerus sent a shockwave out that knocked over all the tables on the balcony and made the ground rumble."
"Yes, I can understand how that could make one nervous. But I also happen to know that Whis won't let things get out of hand and makes sure everything stays reigned in." Frieza replied.
She shakes her head with a smile, before reaching over to take Liana. Mia rocked her gently, which put a small smile on the baby's face.
"They do make a point though." Mia says.
Frieza tilts his head slightly.
"About what?" He asks.
"When you're ready, you should talk to Goku and Vegeta more about training together. We both know Goku would be all for it. Otherwise, he wouldn't have asked you in the past to train with him sometime. I know at the moment we have been busy taking care of Liana. But in the future, it wouldn't hurt to take up his offer. I believe it is key to getting them and everyone else more used to having you around. That and time." She stated.
He closes the distance and lightly places his hands on her hips, and slowly runs his hands up and down her sides.
"A couple months. I promise I'll bring it up to them then. For now, I still wish to be a full-time parent and help you as much as possible with our little one. Plus, it gives us time to work around schedules. I know you were thinking of taking up work again at some point. You even have an interview next month. Lets focus on arrangements first." Frieza informs her.
By this time, he has led her to the couch in the living room. They both sat next to each other as he explained these future plans to her. So far, Mia likes his proposal. She does plan on working within the next month or two. But even then, she will be starting off part-time. It will work better that way for all of them. Then when Liana gets a little older, she will gradually go into some full-time work.
The tricky part was working it around Frieza's training, when he was ready to start that up again. This is also partly why she wanted to start off part-time. That way he would only have to take care of Liana and watch her for a few hours a day. And then when she came home, he can go train and she will care for the baby.
Something she explained to him during their conversation about future plans. At first, he told her that he didn't mind being home alone with the baby and that she could go for full-time. But even Mia knew that after a while that could become old after a while and it wouldn't be fair having Frieza watch their daughter all day, five days a week. He'd barely be able to do things he'd want to do if this were to become their arrangement.
Eventually, he agreed to her idea of going part-time. She figures it will be a good way to split responsibilities during the day between them so one of them wasn't doing more than the other.
"Looks like these arrangements could work. If not, we still have some time to add adjustments within the next couple months until then." Frieza said.
"Yeah, little by little we're getting there. One day at a time. Eventually, everything will fall neatly into place." Mia replied.
The couple spent the rest of that afternoon on the couch enjoying each other's company and relaxing. They also played with their daughter a bit and read her a couple books. This was just another chapter in life they were enjoying.
I know these last couple chapters seem to make the story drag a bit. Though in truth, we are getting pretty close to the end of this story. I'll probably add in one or two more surprises before the Epilogue. Until Next Time ;)
